Knowles-Kelly Sutherland-HJ Joubert- KTZ English - Ned Henry- HD There are an awful lot of Great Coaches in SE TX!!!! Hard to pick one because each has different situations in which they work....(facilities, budgets, # of kids, 2nd sport duties, etc..)

Coach Lee (HJ 9th Grade) also has many years as a Varsity Head Coach!

I normally don't comment on polls, but westbrook is much better than their record suggest.... they are all healthy now....Maybe not top ten, but definitely top 15,,,

40-37 Very good game from start to finish.... HJ's defense was pretty darn good. HJ JV won by about 30... District starts Friday.....

Come on HJ that was not necessary. I understand your competitive nature and support for your team. You are venting because HJ is not ranked and should be but who cares about TABC rankings. It is what you do at the end of the season and I promise you the lady Bobcats will have something to say about that. In girls basketball, classification means nothing. There are bad 4A and 5A teams. Just because you play up in classification means nothing. Our world? Come on man. I will say this 3A rules. I am sorry if I misread your post HJHawks. That happens a lot on here. It just sounded like you were taking a shot at us. If I am wrong let me know because I am man enough to say I was wrong. Bleed, you know me better than that.... I had a baby in my lap and was responding to a pm about officiating....(I apparently hit the wrong button.) we have had some strangely called games this year.... it was not meant as a shot at all... As far as this time of year goes, conditioning, focus (finals, hollidays, etc) and conditioning and conditioning have alot to do with the flow of game at this point in the year...

I have said for a while that overall, our officials really do a good job.... some complain they call too loose / but at least as a chapter they are consistant.

hahaha actually, I read it every year.... It is amazing the number of coaches who gripe about officiating yet do not know the rules... You never know when a rule like this would bite you in the rear....

Same exact result. Basket not allowed as it was not a legal shot... however, a foul did occur... so a 1 and 1 would be awarded... (actually it would be one shot with the Ft lane cleared.....)

Would this be a one and one awarded? A legal shot can't occur with .02...... however if a foul occurred before time expired, it would have to be a non-shooting foul (one and one)...(and the time keeper fired...) (A basket could be scored on a tap, but to catch and shoot, would not be a legal shot.)

The hidden issue is that many kids will ride the bus home after school in the spring.... This means less kids staying afterschool and going to the weight room!

I want to send a personal "Thank You!" to the Kelly basketball players and their coach, James Knowles. My wife and I are making Christmas gift baskets for kids at Texas Children's Hospital, and this group of young men stepped up to the plate and donated a large amount of money to help fill these baskets. What a wonderful example! My thoughts will definately be with you guys as you have helped make the Christmas season a little bit more enjoyable for some folks going through a pretty tough time! I had the pleasure of working with Tony a few years back when he volunteered at Kelly.... What a great guy.... he had stories of those days in the NFl and at Lamar that were classic!

You are right... running it up is bad..... running your offense and defense is not though.... offense can have limits..(passes, time, etc.......)

How do you know he couldn't turn it around? I don't know, anything is possible. Look at Dodges record before he went to Southlake Carroll( not real impressive). Long just hasn't done anything to impress me other than the 1998 and 1999 PNG teams which were loaded with talent. As far as all the talk that he will develop QB's, I didn't see proof of any other QB's except his son that was that great. He hasn't done anything at Kelly except beat a team that was one of the top in the country the year before, which doesn't mean much. Take a look at the 99 Indians and then 2000 Indians. I just don't feel we will be any better off than we are now. I think we can get much better. By much better ,I mean someone with a proven record. Long doesn't have much of a proven record yet.I'm not sure our school board is really trying to get the best we can get so who knows. Now with all that being said, if we don't get much apply and Long ends up being the one with the best resume' then he will have my support.I just don't see us not getting a better applicant. Look at Fazio and Prewitts numbers..... his last two qb's at kelly..... for their skill level, he developed them into pretty darn good players....
