  1. Does anyone know if TEA is granting a waiver on days that were missed? If not, days could run longer....
  2. sounds like an ad for Texas City.... trying to get some Galveston kids...
  3. what do you have to do for the verizon discount?
  4. i said this before and was told i was insensitive, but the government should help people in the short term when they are unable to return home due to a government order..(ie: mandatory evac.) Everyone has an opportunity to obtain insurance to protect against these things... other wise it is the same as bailing out a failed bank.. (that is a whole other story) Those without insurance are gambling.... and as happens in gambling you will eventually lose... people who cannot afford to insure their homes, may be living above their means... I just hate seeing our country turn into a bunch of people always wanting the government to take care of them... russia tried that and it didn't work... **** I feel for those that had losses and pray that they are able to recover!!! I just had to get this in here before chad puts another plug for obamma on here.
  5. the floor was warped very badly... they have been trying to find someone to come replace it, but aren't having much luck... get ready for outdoor basketball this winter!!! ;D
  6. I know the people of the Mississippi coast feel our pain.... they were the red-headed step-child after Katrina but recieved much more damage in my opinion... there were many towns wiped off the map. Everyone I have talked to here tries to hug us and most start saying a prayer for all of the people in our area on the spot... It is truly an amazing thing. As far as national attention, there was nothing to sensationalize... had Houston recieved more damage, there would be people running for any office all over the place... but a lower populated area gets hit and the big story is just not there... I would love to see Barrack and Geraldo helping chainsaw some downed trees...
  7. For those of you tired of recordings.... here are some numbers for the regional FEMA offices for texas/louisianna... The guy I talked to several minutes ago knows what is going on... they will try and direct you to the website/hotline, but be persistant and your questions will be answered... Telephone Numbers: Main Number: 1 (940) 898-5399 Congressional Inquiries: 1 (940) 898-5104 Media Inquiries: 1 (940) 898-5104
  8. What about BC, OF, PA, WOS, Vidor? It is going to be tough and frustrating not having all the kids back with other things on their mind....> I hope things can get back to normal quickly..... being out of town right now... all you hear is doom and gloom.. with news stories only showing the worst... hopefully not everywhere is like that.
  9. HJ update Football field- goal posts bent and twisted...home side restrooms had roof blown off school - roof damage - water in building.
  10. many school districts are closed indefinately...(what ever that means) I hope alot of our families (especially orange county) don't enroll elsewhere... It makes it hard to rebuild if people don't come back...
  11. I'm in Bay St. Louis, MS......neat town... Went to watch some of my cousins pop warner games yesterday played at the high school Brett Favre attended.... those little kids can hit! It was a classic wing t vs spread game (By 9 year olds...) both were pretty good! haha -Fogo
  12. I agree with your statement.... Orange County residents should be taken care of immediately! (no questions asked..) What i was talking about was all the people who are inconvienced... The gov't shouldn't have to pay because people are inconvienced... **THe orange county situation (as well as those who live on Bolivar) is a different story. Our prayers are with you guys... when we are allowed to come back, I will be one of the first to come and help do what I can... -Mike
  13. You are right!!! I remember seeing the brigade of rescue/ utility trucks rolling in after Rita..... (I think I started breakdancing...) These guys... especially the linemen work their @#$ off!!!
  14. Coop, I didn't know you were a liberal...... hahaha Not to sound harsh..... but.....for homeowners.... First, we live in a hurricane prone area.... 1. Most of us chose to live here. 2. We can choose to have adequate insurance..(flood, homeowners, windstorm, etc.) 3. The government can only do so much. 4. most personal insurance carries a "loss of use" provision which will cover hotel, etc... check your policy. ** While I hate not recieving free money, I am at least glad that FEMA is not just giving money away with out asking any questions...
  15. word is that hardin jefferson high school had some pretty good roof damage... water in halls and classrooms..... district 21-3A was hit hard!!!!!l prayers are with everyone... the next few weeks are gonna be tough!
  16. Because there is no story when a small town like BC gets wiped off the map. But they are trying everything they can to manufacture a story in Houston. Just like in Katrina. All the focus was on New Orleans, but the storm surge destroyed Biloxi. BC has been basically been destroyed but you won't hear much of that from the national media. I am in waveland / bay st. louis right now..... this was once a beautiful area and has not even come close to recovering and probably never will.... Houston equals more people equals better national news This scenario is the "perfect storm" for our area because all of the resources are in houston... and us country folk have to just wait our turn....
  17. Any news on Sour Lake area? I am in MS and cannot get ahold of anyone.... We live off of 421.
  18. If you put all these coaches at the same school..... who would do the best? Many of these guys are blessed with tremendous athletes... some of that is in part due to offseason programs that the coaches implement, but nonethe less athletes are atheletes. If they were all coaching at the same school.... Say Ozen... who would lead the team the furthest?
  19. I am in Bay St. Louis, MS (an area hit hard by rita AND recently the surge is about 8 feet.) A constant 30 mile per hour wind has been blowing since yesterday.... this one is going to be bad news for the lower areas of the texas coast. It is flooding here and it is pretty high elevation wise. STAY SAFE EVERYONE!
  20. Vidor @ HJ - Cancelled........ Be safe everyone..... Bigger, more important things than football right now.....
