The Silsbee Tigers (9-10, 0-2) travel to Orange County for their two game district series with the #25 state ranked Orangefield Bobcats (13-2, 2-0). The Tigers lost their two game district series to #8 state ranked Bridge City last week 8-1, 12-8. The Bobcats won their two game district series last week over H-F 16-3, 13-3. The Tigers own a 19-6 record against the Bobcats since 2007 winning the last three games. The Bobcats last beat the Tigers in 2016.
The Silsbee Tigers (9-9, 0-1) will travel to Orange County to take on the #8 Bridge City Cardinals (12-6-1, 1-0) in the second game of a two game series. In the first game the Cards where able to get an early lead then pull away late in the game on some untimely Tiger errors. The JV starts at 4:30 and Varsity starts around 7:00.
Corbin Johnson (Soph) was the JV QB last year until the last couple of games when he got moved up to varsity. Him and Jacob Collins would go through QB drills every day at practice with the QB coach. From what I saw he has a good touch on the deep pass and can throw the outs and slants, ok on roll outs. Not as strong of an arm as Collins but strong. Best thing about off season is you get to improve. If he is the next QB we’ll see.
The Silsbee Tigers (9-8) will host the Bridge City Cardinals (11-6) on Tuesday, the JV will get kicked off at 4:30 and then the Varsity will start at 7:00, the first of a two game series this week. It's the opening series for 22-4A. The Tigers are on a three game skid, last losing to the Hardin Jefferson Hawks 13-0. The Bridge City Cardinals are on a three game skid of their own, last losing to the Jasper Bulldogs 14-7. The Cardinals own a 18-7 record against the Tigers since 2007. The Tigers swept the Cardinals in district last year and the Cardinals swept the Tigers in the Regional Quarterfinal playoffs last year. Big series to start district.
The Silsbee Tiger (9-7) will host the Hardin Jefferson Hawks (6-5) Friday night in Silsbee at the Tiger Diamond, the game is set to start at 7:00. The Tigers are coming off a quick, long road trip to East Texas the past two days losing their two games, one to Kilgore 8-6 and another to Whitehouse 6-5 in extra innings. The Hawks played Hampshire-Fannett Thursday and won 6-3. The Tigers have a 15-8 record over the Hawks since 2007, but the Hawks have won the last two games including a 13-1 win in the Silsbee Tournament earlier this year. This game between the Tigers and Hawks is a future match up of district teams next year.
