NW might have got a little better, but I see were they fell behind Ana. in there last game before comming back and winning. So if they fall behind EC this game will be over. I have seen both teams play a few times this year and I just think EC has better athletes. So what they like in size they make up for in speed. And I truly dont like NW fans ;)

Silsbee vs PA Lincoln Feb. 1995 at Lamar University
Silsbee could have been overrated. They beat HJ twice and West Brook twice. Not sure to say overrated but maybe go caught up in the hype. Who knows. They hada great year still. HJ will join us on the sidelines tonight. This isn't the same Cleveland team that loses every year. The Indians will go to state.
Well you might be right about HJ getting beat tonight, But I am still going to pull for them, and all the local teams that are still in the playoffs. We all have to play against each other during the year, and we all pick sides, but at this point we are ALL SETX and we are all on the same side. -
6'4" forward (Prudhomme) and a 6'3" post (Persohn) - give or take an 1". Actually, this team is taller than the previous two play-off teams for HJ, although that doesn't equal the height of Cleveland.
I think that Persohn is taller than 6'3'' I know he playes bigger than that. And I think they have another under classman that is 6'6'' or bigger. May not see the floor much but he kid is big. -
Can Evadale make a run to state?

I heard that the Rebs had a good shoot around yesterday, and that #3 was on fire with over 20 made shot from the 3 line. Hope that, that carries over to tonight. They know that Malano is going to try and shut down the inside game, so they should get plenty of open looks from out side, they just have to knock them down. LETS GOOOOOOOO REBS.................. -
True Blue are you saying this years team was overrated? Sealy with its size would pose a challenge for any team in 3A. They have 2 decent players and 1 dang good player in Seal-Jones. I guarantee HJ wouldn't beat them either. I expect Sealy to match up well vs Cleveland if both get that far. If your saying this years Silsbee team was overrated then I disagree. They played their worst game of the year at the worst time. Stuff happens. Travis has more wins over the past 5 yrs than any other coach in SETX including Sutherland. Silsbee will be fine with Gaines, Elam, Wilson, and Holmes returning. No need to talk trash now that their home.
I dont know, you tell me.. At the start of this season it was said they were going to Austin, and at the end of this season, it was already a done deal, that Silsbee would beat HJ in the playoff, for the third time this year. And now they bowed out in their first game, so what do you think, were they OVERRATED?? -
I dont see Evadale getting past Milano ... yes Milano may be undersized against Evadale's bigs ... but Milano can absolutely hit from beyond the arc .. i dont think Evadale's outside game is anywhere close to Milano's ... Milano comes from a heavy 1A basketball area .. Evadale ... well they dont its a very weak basketball district has been for years now .. Sorry im from the Golden Triangle and i support local teams .. and sure ill be cheering for Evadale .. but i do not see them getting past Milano
I heard that Milano shoot the three also. But looking at the stats from the last game, they only made 4 3s and they were made by 4 different players.. -
Aggie, I questionyou as well. You hide behind the truth! I know your the most noteable person from Silsbee since Mark Henry, but dont be scared to say something others won't agree with. It may sound stupid sometimes, but your best blogs are the ones where people openly speak their mind. I know I take it out of context sometimes but people like to debate! True Blue is a player hater and I hate player haters. So in return I player hate back on him. All fun and jokes. [/quote I dont know were you get that I am a player hater??? I have been hearing all year long about how great this years team was and about how great that one for their players was. And JMO but if you have that great of a team, and the best player in SETX you should never go out in the first round. But just maybe they were not quite as good as some people thought. ;D But its all good, Im just trying to pull on your strings. And Look it did not take 5 min. and you were foaming at the mouth.. ;D ;D :D :D -

We honestly could care less that Silsbee is no longer in the playoffs. I do feel for the kids, parents, and coaches. Life goes on. You on the other hand need to focus on weather or not Brookshire Bros. will allow you to work a 40hr schedule in order to keep that tin can you call a home paid up!
Well to start with They Are Still In The Playoffs ;D ;D And just were is yours???? :oAnd as far as my financial state goes. Looks to me that I am doing well enough to be able to go to all the ball games that I wont. And you can bet your @$$ that if I make a bet with Aggie or anyone else on here I WILL BE Able To Pay Off. But You just keep paying rent on that little car that belonges to someone else ;D ;D -
New School Basketball Training vs Old School Training
True Blue replied to BLUEDOVE3's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
My favorite drill to have my team run is 3 on 2 going one way and 2 on1 comming back. Helps kids handel the ball when running the floor, and to pass the ball to the open man on the fast break. Just think how many times this can come up in a game. And it can also help kids play Def. and how important it is to stop the ball.I can not tell you the time that I have seen a kid just run along side the ball then make a foul when the player go to shoot the layup. I make them run this for a least a hour every day. My second drill is to box out and get position when the ball is in the air. I hate for a kid to stand and watch the ball, with a open mouth, then try to get the rebound. -

After reading about Milano, their top scorer is a 6'2'' post player. I dont think he will get many open looks in the paint ,with the size at Evadale brings. As long as Evadales guards can play good Def. I think they have a good chance to win this game. -
What type of brace does he have? Is it going to affect his play much. I say that because Joe can really drive from the free throw line to his left and shoot a lay up with his left hand really well for a big man. On the other hand, if it means Joe won't dribble while he's in traffic in the lane, that may be a good thing. (If I were a coach, I'd make every post run laps whenever they try in dribble through traffic!)
The Dribble in traffic, does not get to me as much as the aircheck by the big men at the goal!!!! Just catch it high and shot it high.. When you bring it down, you go from 6'7'' to 5'5'' >:(
Isn't that the same thing that happens when you rebound it, then dribble, then go back up? Drives me nuts!!!
Me too! I guess X-Box NBA Live does it ???
I know that drives me crazy. I try to teach kids that a dribble is to gain a advantage. What have you gained by just taking the ball from the backdoard ,taking it to the floor just to bring it back up to the backboard?????

That would give you a good start. But if your realy the best player in SETX you should not go out in your first playoff game.
You know you just keep making a bigger idiot out of your self than anybody on here could have ever imagined. Losing one playoff game doesn't say anything about an individual player. The player you are inferring to had a pretty good night but as a team the Tigers had a bad night . How many other players in this area have started for 4 years(15 games as a freshman), been to Austin twice, and made the all state team. It has been said many times anything can happen in one game, unfortunately for the Tigers that was the case. But no matter how good a player is he can't win games by himself it takes a team. I am sure this particular would take as much blame as any of his teammates but this game doesn't belittle the player that he is. Is he the best player in the area this year? That is an opinion but it has been the opinion of many whose opinions matter a heck of a lot more than yours!!
Ok they are the best 2 players in SETX, that are at home watching the best TEAMS in SETX go on in the playoffs.. Is that better for you :)
The two biggest factors in playoff basketball is matchups and adjustments. The Rebels are lucky to have a guys at the helm who has coached at the high school and college level. From here on out the oppostion determines where the ball goes so don't be so quick to say they have to go to the bigs and they have to convert. If the defenses collapse ,and they will, the ball will have to be kicked out and Murphy will have to convert. The ball can take funny bounces this time of year so anything can happen.I hope the Rebels continue to win but I gotta believe they are going to start seeing some pretty good clubs from here on out.
You are right, there will not be anyone left in the playoffs at this point that is not good clubs. And as for as Murphy goes, I have never seen the kid have three off games in a row. I look for him to have a good game Wen. because if anyone was scouting them ,they will try to shut down Dunigan, that should open the floor for Stark, and Murphy. The best thing about this club, is that on any night one of the 4 leaders on this team can have a great game. -

If other teams find out about the guards having decent ball handling, then getting the ball down the court will be a big problem. If they get it to the big men and work the inside outside game with the three and #3, then they will be fine. Rebels are a half court offense type of team, and run and gun will beat them during transitions. Also i am throwing in consistency. Rebels are not very consistent, in the playoffs, you play every quarter like the fourth.
I could not agree with you more... But they are in the 3 round of the playoffs, and not one of these guys have ever been here before. I just hope that the lesson they learned Friday carries over to this week. But everyone knows I have been hard on their guards, but they have came a long way from were they were at the start of this year. In both of their last games Leggett, and Yorktown, put pressure on them in the back court. They beat Leggetts press so bad that they pulled out of it at half and we only had 2 turnovers in the second half comeback with Yorktown. Just lookes to me like they are playing their best ball at the right time. Now they might get blew out Wen. but at least they are at the dance....
I am confused. Didn't Leggett play Evadale a few weeks ago? Evadale's last two games were against West Sabine and Yorktown.
Sorry your right I ment WS, at Lamar. Leggett did not pressure the ball in the back court. But both teams were mostly guards, I got them screwedup. -

I wish Kountze all the luck. But After seeing both teams play I just think Crockett is to strong inside for Kountze. But if Kountze can shoot a high% from the 3 line they might have a chance..
