I wouldn't get on my high horse until my team won a playoff game. What is it with ADULTS who want to belittle TEENAGERS?? I don't care about the karma thing, I'm not in high school anymore. Why kick someone while they are down?? Especially when the people you are "kicking" are high school football players who still love the game.
You need to understand ,the ones you are talking about are not adults. They are little boys that cant make the highschool football team, so they try to put ones down that have.
Sabine Pass will on once again field a very competitive team. The coaching staff does a great job. Transfers are part of life. If the student meets the requirements of the transfer rules he plays. As far as 1A players getting college offers, they have to be very special. I agree about the statement about the Spurger guard...size will be the question. After watching Evadale play this summer, they return 4 starters and played this summer without their transfer, and he has not played an entire hs season in over a year. And knowing the big man in charge in Evadale, the transfer will have to fit in with the TEAM concept, not anyone else's agenda.
:D :D IF you only new :D :D
Kids have been transferring out of PAISD to SP for yearssssssssssss, it is not new and not because of the storm. Alot of kids from the Port Acres area attend SP as well.
That it the point I am trying to make. You never know what kind of team SP is going to have, untill they play their first game, to see who they have playing for them. I thought that is what this topic was about? ( What kind of team Sabine was going to have this year??)
You guys are missing the boat on this one.........True Blue knows all about transfer rules!!!! He has done it three times in three years!!!! ::) ::) ::)
You know that you realy need to get over were my son played and is playing this year. But I do hope you have as much to say face to face when we get to the HJ tournement. ;)
-
You make great points But if you are sitting the bench not even a Jr collage will get to see them. And yea the kids skill are prob. not as good as the kids in the 3a or 4a teams But if he takes his team to the state game He will get some attention from at lease a Jr collage.
-
Here is my take... The Point Guard for Spuger is the best in 1a and will get plenty of exposure by making the playoff in 1a.. If he was to play at HJ, Silsbee, WOS, he would not be the starter, so playing at the smaller school is in his favor. But maybe super star is not the wright word, but playing at the small schools is still playing and not setting the bench.

Who else other than Memorail are they going to bring up?? There are no schools in the Gulf Of Mexico
most of the kids at sp that are transfers have been there since middle school. once sfa went from being a high school to a middle school kids started going to sabine pass. and blue evadale gets kids from buna, vidor, lcm, and silsbee, heck prolly even lumberton. so it shouldnt be a big deal.
Read my post I said I HAVE NO PROB WITH IT I think a kid should be able to play were ever they wont. Were I said that its not fair to other 1a schools is % of kids transfer. I know Evadale has transfers just not that many. They trun down alot each year.

High Island vs. Milano Game Thread/Milano Wins/Comments

Congradulations to High Island for making it to the playoffs. And Good luck in Basketball this year, I just hate that we dont get to play you all this year. I all ways like coming to High Island and looking up my dads and uncles names in the trophy case in the gym ;) -
Please dont get me wrong I for ONE see nothing wrong for moving to get more playing time, or a better chance to get seen by a collage coach. I was just posting on a question that someone else asked. I think it is great that SP is still trying to be a indepentent school Dist. and not sending there kids to PA.
-
Yea just think about it 7 kids from each school trying to make 1 team ??That is why I cant understand why PM is not a power house in there Dist??

SO the rules for any kid living in the Dist. was changed after the storm. That is the difference in transfers and kids that live in the dist. And it is not a misconception about a kid that could not make the starting team in PM playing a big part in a smaller school. Dont forget that there were 3 very good schools that were turned into one. So there are some real good players not getting playing time in PA. And with the open door in SP why would a kid not take that chance?? I am not saying anything is wrong with it thats just the case. But I know that there are a lot of coaches that dont like it. ;)
Three schools????? Lincoln and TJ and ..........
Port Acres, Steven F Austin I think they were a 3a team

Most schools in Southeast Texas allow transfers. Some charge a fee for kids that don't live in the district. Here's where you continue to miss the boat, the kids can not be cleared to play any sport unless they live in the district or they are released by their old school. They can file a waiver with the UIL if they aren't released but very few of these are granted. One more misconception is that kids that can't play at Memorial can become stars at a small school. If a kid can play, he can play ,if he can't he will be average no matter where he goes.Sabine Pass will face the same challenges this year as any school that graduates 3 or 4 of their best players and that is replacing points.I think they will be in the same district as they have been in and I don't see them beating Evadale or BS this year. They could play HD and WH pretty close for 3rd.JMO
Absolutely right, all the post about transfers is just ridiculous. It doesn't matter where you come from, if you are enrolled then you can play. It is always these people who grow up in small schools and communities that complain about TRANSFERS. For those who grow up and stay in a small school/community, goodluck in the real world. P.S. The storm had nothing to do with the rule change
I seem to have read were a kid that is TRansfering to YATES is not getting to play And I dont think that Houston Yates is that small of a communitie

Dove Sabine Pass Is a 1a team..And after the storm the UIL has allowed kids that live in PA to transfer. Not realy fair for the reat of the schools in 1a but thats the UIL for you. So if a kid is not quite good enough to make the 5a PM they can go to SP and be a star. So no one knows what they have this year untill the first game ;D But with what they lost last year I only see them finishing 3 or 4 in this dist.

Not sure who he's affiliated with but he's no Rebel. Not a real Reb anyway. No, HI doesn't stand much of a chance in a playoff game, but under the UIL format this year they did qualify. So play the game. And good luck.
No im not retarded i'm just simply saying the truth. I find them going to the playoffs quite funny! ;)
Finding it funny that they are going to the playoffs and saying that a 8th grade team could beat them is 2 different things. Most people know that they dont stand much of a chance in the playoffs. But they did not make the rules. I to think it is foolish to spend all that money and time to take 3 teams out of a 4 team dist. But that is not their fault, it is what it is.
