1. I am not cry at all, I dont care if they lift a ton of weights at HF. But the fact is still the same, the teams in the area that have a winning BB program or not in offseason football weight lifting classes during BB season. And that is what this topic is about, you have no prof that it helps a BB program at all.
 2. Unless they are shooting free throws and hiting curveballs during football season they are not getting the same practice time.
 3. Be carefull Speechless you will be labeled as being UNTexan if you go against the Football gods ;D
 4.

You have pretty much summed it up, But some AD football coaches have the attitude of their way or the highway. If you wont to play anything at school you will go into the offseason football workouts. Some schools wont even let kids in the gym if its not BB season. And most of those schools dont go very far in the playoffs.
If they are the AD then how is that wrong?  Universal strength/speed training benefits the entire athletic program.  Even those schools that do it usually give the basketball guys some "out" here and there.  THe ones I know only make them lift a couple days a week.  I just don't see the problem in getting stronger, faster, and quicker.  East Chambers is an excellent example of how universal offseason can help you.  Evadale is another.  Both schools are very successful at all sports.  Woodville, Buna, Newton are even more where they are successful in more than one sport.  Being sport specific is simply being selfish.  The AD should give the kids the best chance to win and it ain't gonna happen if he can't move or lift a pencil.  Universal strength/speed training is not powerlifting.  Its to make kids quicker/faster/and stronger.  Its great for the kids.
IF you can run a4.1 and benchpress 265 but cant hit the 15 ft jumper and shoot 80% from the line you will be playing 7on7 as soon as the BB playoff start.
 5. Some coaches think that not all, just ask the coaches that consistently take teams deep in the Basketball playoffs. But if you are one of those, that think that, what are you doing on the BB site. The FB site is 3 up ;D
 6.
Don't know anything about that, but isn't Evadale playing in the Kountze summer league? If so, could anyone tell me who and what time they play on Mon?
There or not any games Mon. Their next game will be July 1 at 8 Pm against Sislbee

 8. You have got it all wrong I am not bashing the FB program at EC at all Just dont see why one programe has to suffer in order to help another one. I am sure that the BB coach is totaly supportive of the FB programe Just wish that the football (AD) coach, felt the same way about BB. And that is not just at EC but looks like other schools also. I am not trying to make it personaly about EC, but that is a program that I know what was going on. If I was at HF I would fell the same way as some other people on this site

But if they would have spent Wen practing BB and not offseason football they could have placed 2 and made a good run in the playoffs. But  we will see how all the offseason football practice pays off this year when they play Newton :o
2010 is absolutly right, and TB is off base here. EC has a FINE BB program, but primary focus is on football. EC has by far been one of the best BB programs around the past 15-20 years. Thats indisputable. EC also went 3 rounds deep in the 2A football playoff, too, only losing out to state champ Daingerfield. TB, I am sure no one at EC wants to emulate a "BB first" program, like HJ or Kountze.
You are right Sorry I forgot about the Buy but they only won one game that they played. But JMO I dont see any reason For a Basketball player to drag a tractor tire during BB season.  But maybe EC should look into emulating the BB first program I cant remember any FB state titles But they have gotten close in BB. And HJ and Kountze have State Titles to show for their effort. But go and ask those coaches that made EC a good BB program in those 15 to 20 years and see if any of their teams were doing any offseasion FB workouts during BB season. I have Their #s if you need them
 10.
I believe East Chambers has established themselves over the years as a very successful basketball program in this area, no disputing that fact. Only clueless and foolish people would think otherwise. ::) I do agree though, IF ;) there were lifting on game day, that's not helpful.
You are right EC has been a good basketball program before the new AD football coach and young Basketball coach got there. But like Wildcatter said I would like to see the basketball coach to come in and tell the football coach that they are going to shoot free throws on  Thur. during school. Just make a few calls and find out if the winning highschool BB programs( Sislbee HJ Kountze Ozen) have football offseason drill during BB season.

 12. Just ask the players at EC how the UNIVERSAL OFF SEASON worked for their team last year. When most schools that were getting ready to play in the playoffs they were draging tires on Wen. on the football feild instead of  being in the gym.  ???
 13.
trueblue why is Blaine not playing summer league? Did he do any serious damage to his knee a couple of weeks back?
No he did not hurt it that bad I think it scared him more than anything. He is at camps the next 3 weeks, SFA, Texasprep, and Im not sure were in week3 .But he should be there tomorrow night in Kountze. And the real reason I have picked WOS so high I might know who their next coach is going to be. Cant say for sure but if the rummer is true they will be better than some people ( Aggie) thinks.
 14. Well lets see WOS and Silsbee score last year 44 to 58 then 49 to 59 and Sislbee won both but that is not what I would call a dominating score. And no one cares what happen 10 years ago. And I think you have not watched HJ s JV play they are playing in the summer league games and they are pretty good They played HFs V and played them realy close.  But you are right they prob. cant beat that many Vrs teams  but that pick makes as much since as picking HJ last
 15. Like I said that is JMO from what I have seen this summer. Silsbee looks to be a one man team, but they might have players not playing in the summer games. And I also know that summe games or just that summer games but you can see if they have talented players, and sorry I have just seen one in Sislbee , he is real good but it is hard to be a one man team at the 3a level. But no were have I said that Silsbee would be week I said that there will be good games between all three teams. And Aggie you never heard me say that he would not see the floor ;)  But Kelly I am basing my pick on seeing Sislbee play but looks like maybe not all of their players. That is what I love about this site If you make a pick that is not what Aggie thinks is right you get attacked or they deleate you acount ;D Just hope that one of these days he makes that attack face to face :o
 16.

HJ WOSSilsbee OFBCHF
Silsbee brings back a talented group headed by Stallworth, and WOS loses their coach...not sure I understand this one
If Silsbee is bring back a talented group they must not be playing summer league I have seen them play 3 times and have not seen much. And WOS had a few real good Jr last year. That is what I am basing my pick on. If Silsbee has players that are not playing this summer, I might be wrong. But just like everyear it will be close between these 3, and they are just a little better then the rest of the teams. JMO And ST413 is a fool HJ can play their jv and beat most of these teams.
 17. HJ WOSSilsbee OFBCHF
 18. Went to Kountze to watch games tonight, Evadale beat Lumb. in first game, Silsbee beat HJ by 3, then Evadale beat Kountze JV in 3 game. Over all good games. Kountze JV looked to be all comming Fr. very small.
 19. Ok most of you younger guys prob. dont know that Wilt was the only player, that the league changed the rules to stop him from scoring. The rules were changed to help Jorden and others to help them score points. Whether or not you put Wilt in your top list He was the only player to have that happen to him. And never forget that when he put up his 100 point game that was with 2 points at a time, Kobe has gotten close a few times but alot of his points were 3s.
 20. That is good news, that it not your heart, I know we have not see eye to eye on many things, But ever check need a balance and you,try to keep me in check.  I hope you get to feeling better, and  cant wait for basketball season to start.
 21.
What inning?
bottom of 5
 22. Man that was a killer but they need to just get one run at a time the still have 9 outs left if they can just score one
 23. What happen to reb. He  must not have brought two batterys Must not have ever been that far from the river bottom before ;D
