BREAKING NEWS | FOOTBALL TEAM REFUSES TO PLAY VIDOR CITING RACIST "PAST" | The Vidor Pirates will NOT play on Friday night after a remarkable turn of events that boggles the mind. 1813 called Vidor Athletic Director Jeff Matthews to confirm the story relayed by other sources. Matthews had to confirm its authenticity.
Bay City backed out of a game with Vidor on Friday after Tropical Storm Nicholas impacted the team's ability to practice. Vidor hustled around and got an agreement with Fort Bend Christian Academy to play in Vidor on Friday. But after learning of the arrangement the Athletic Director of Fort Bend Christian Academy NIXED the idea. The AD reportedly told Vidor officials they were UNWILLING TO PLAY VIDOR FOR THE CITY'S "PAST." Coach Matthews told us he is sick about it because of what it does to the players and fans at Vidor. Matthews said after serving in some coaching capacity for 29 years he has never seen one thing indicating racism on the part of Vidor players and says he HATES IT for the team. The lack of an opponent strips Vidor players of the ability to get valuable practice with an opposing team but it does NOT work against the team's schedule or playoff potential.
