I have heard Hooks accused of alot of things before but hiding a kicker would be a first!
maybe he had a concussion and hooks is hiding him in the shed lol :D -
Nederland @ Dayton scrimmage updates

sounds like the defenses showed up.. which is pretty normal early in the season.. takes offenses longer to get clicking and hit a stride.. -

Coaches have fond memories of Astrodome
GoDogs27 replied to KFDM COOP's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
That game will haunt me for the rest of my life.. I still think we scored on the play before that and got robbed.. I specifically remember having an ice cream in my hand and jumping up and down when everyone thought Nederland scored.. needless to say the ice cream was no longer in my hand.. As far as what the call should have been? Well I think Barrow decided to stick with the philosophy of "dance with the one who brought you".. the only problem is, ramoin didnt stand a chance.. I dont know that a QB sneak stood a chance either.. Bay City had their goaline set in and their line backers were stuffed in each gap up the middle.. the smart play wouldve been a play action pass to a back or TE in the flats.. it wouldve been wide open.. -
Looking Back Over The Years And Your Team
GoDogs27 replied to skipper's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
i can remember one offhand.. 2006 Nederland @ LCM.. I think Ned was down by two or three td's and out of nowhere Micah Mosley turned the switch on and just ran wild on the bears.. -
1. Beaumont Central (Lot of good pieces here. Young gun QB and D. Heard who averaged 9.5 yards per carry last year. Not to mention we will have a good defense as usual.) 2. Port Neches Groves (They are the champs with a great system in place will come down to the last game of the season) 3. Little Cypress - Mariceville ( Gonzalez is back and another year under Coach Crouch's system. Also, the hotshot all district reciever comes back) 4. Beaumont Ozen ( Been hearing rumblings in the street that Ozen will do their thing this year) 5. Nederland ( May do better if they can get their QB situation under control) 6. Livingston ( Seems like the talent well maybe down over there) 7. Vidor (Best chance of success was last year. Now, I just dont know) 8. Lumberton (back to you 'normal')
ohh come on soulja.. no love for the dogs this season? after all the injuries last season we still made it to the playoffs.. as far as our QB situation being 'under control'.. i love the fact that we have two, maybe three Qbs competing for the job.. they are all different qb's which means Barrow (OC) can really open up that playbook and use several packages.. cant see LCM getting in there before Nederland, but then again I am biased :D as far as me ranking them second to last, its not that i dont think they are talented, but ive been hearing they are going to have some problems in the trenches.. and folks, whether we want to admit it or not, the trenches are where games are won.. you can have the most talented backs or receivers, but if they cant open up holes or protect the QB, you are looking at big problems.. but at any rate I do wish all the teams the best of luck and to stay healthy.. I like playing other teams when they are healthy..
-
I would much rather be on the bottom of that list than the top... When Nederland started gaining notoriety in the late 90's, we were also picked to lose games in the playoffs and we surprised teams year after year.. now we are on the other side of it and its a lot harder to keep expectations high when you are expected to win all the time.. i love being the underDOG

isnt this the football forum?
-
Call me biased if you want.. but I am shocked nobody has thrown out Larry Neumann.. what he does with the talent he gets, is pretty outstanding.. Nederland never really has the type of athletes that some other schools have.. Its amazing what he's done over the years.. Faircloth is a good coach, but before we put him in the hall of fame, lets see a few more years first.. hard to imagine putting him in front of Neumann this early on..

If you could have one rematch for your schools team...
2001....Nederland vs. Bay City in the playoffs.....Nederland whipped them in every category except the scoreboard. Lost 7-0. I would dearly love some stats from that game.
It was 2000. And yes this would be my pick as well. I dont have exact stats in front of me, but If memory serves me correctly, Nederland was in BC territory like 12 times that night, and inside the redzone like 5 times. Instead of taking field goals when we should have, we opted to go for it and got stuffed everytime. I still think we scored on the second to last play of the game but I guess only that one official will ever know for sure.. -
Well it depends on how you look at it... that is kind of open ended. Are we talking about best player in high school ball, or best player that went on to play college and pros? There are players who are tremendous in high school but cant really mesh into a college or pro athlete. then you have your Jamal Charles's out there.. As far as best players for high school ball, I would have to put Troy Sumrall and Micah Mosely at the top of the list (for my era).

Although I was on the bitter end of the stick for this one, and it still haunts me to this day.. The 2000 Bay City - Nederland game in the state quaterfinals was as dramatic as they get.. the game ended 7-0 BC, after a hugely controversial call in the final seconds of the game. It appeared that Nederland got into the endzone with just a few seconds left on a pass to the sideline. To everyones surprise, the referee spotted the ball short of the goal line. Nederland had one more chance to score on the final play, but ran it straight up the middle and Ramoine got stuffed by the BC lb's.. BC went on to demolish its next two opponents. That was really the State championship game right there... Now, i wasnt there, but in 1994, Plano-East and John Tyler were playing in Texas Stadium. The video is on youtube and if you havent seen this comeback, you need to check it out. It has got to be the most gut wrenching last few minutes of a football game i have ever seen. Plano East was down 41-17 with 2:42 left in the 4th! They scored a TD and then successfully recovered an onside kick and scored again. Thats impressive enough, but they did it two more times for a total of 4 td's and 3 onside recoveries to take the lead with 24 seconds left. Then you wont believe what happens... just watch the video..
Honestly Soulja, we all know that the past means absolutley nothing, Ozen beat Nederland last yr and PNG the year before.. and if you want to get technical Ozen in the Past has put some pretty nasty numbers on the JAGS.. The JAGS are still on TOP of 20 4A with 4 rounds deep under their belt but thats all in the PAST....
Well it depends on how far back we are talking nederland made it to the semifinals in 2001 but that really doesnt mean squat right now.. to be honest with you, the past is pretty irrelevant when dealing with school football teams.. the thing that IS relevant to the past is your coaching staff and coaches' past performances.. that being said, anything can happen, any year..

Returning players for Nederland and thoughts?
GoDogs27 replied to ReadOption's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
i look for mixed packages using both smith and forney.. Barrow generally has a few new plays every year and the last couple of season has been no exception. look for some spread, some power formations, some wildcat. I am sure he will mix it up quite a bit.. -
PNG to construct Multi-Purpose Student Activities Building
GoDogs27 replied to PNGFan's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
I was shocked at the vote from the last bond proposal.. it was shot down like 75% to 25%. I agree with what others have said, the nederland community seems to be full of older people. Not to stereotype or anything, but typically that type of crowd is resistant to change. I went to Langham 14 years ago and it was in bad shape then. C.O. Wilson was in bad shape also. The high school is hanging in there but i dont understand the philosophy of throwing money over and over again into a bottomless pit instead of building something new that will last. I will be a dog until I die, and I am one of those dogs that hates the colors purple and white; but the PNG community supports their schools and athletes. It could be an 0-10 season and the stands are packed. Nederland? we lose two games in a row and our season is down the drain and people decide to stay home and watch dancing with the stars. It's irritating and frustrating the people in Nederland are so bandwagon. -
Beaumont Central vs Huntsville Predictions

Take it to 'em Jags. This Dog fan is rooting hard for the Cats tomorrow! ;) -
Well I was really looking forward to a PNG-Angleton matchup this week, but what happened tonight confirmed my belief that I had earlier this week that Brenham would pull out the upset. I have only seen a couple of PNG games this season and was not overly impressed by either. Obviously to go 10-0 in the regular season, then you must be doing something right, but I had a lot of doubts about a deep playoff run.. Nothing to hang their heads about, they accomplished a lot of things this year and can build on that next year..

Why PNG will beat Brenham like a drum...
GoDogs27 replied to Thunderlicious's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
PNG better not be looking toward Angleton next week.. Brenham is no pancake.. I have only seen two PNG games this year, and I gotta admit, they didnt impress me enough to make me believe that they are legit contenders for a state title.. That being said, they are 11-0 so they are clearly doing something right. This is going to a be a lot closer game than some people think. Pulling for PNG in this one. I want to see them and Angleton mix it up next week, but if I am a PNG fan, watchout for the upset. Brenham takes this one. -
Whats that I hear in the background...... sounds like some growling .... go get em Dogs
I'll be there with quite a few other Nederland fans that I have talked to. My only question is, Do I have to wear purple?
Mack.... Its one thing to support, Its another thing to break the law... Never wear that hideous color that they shouldve eliminated from the spectrum.. Good luck NDN's! lol
