Why can't this rivalry just be about football? Wouldn't that be a novel idea? Eagles this will be a tough one no doubt, but dig deep and make it a war. Win or lose, I'll tip my hat to them and move on. Make it a game and last weeks mud bowl will only matter to GCM. We'll deal with them next year. Right now it's about them purple shetland ponies!

To the Eagle team players: Keep your heads up, try to stay positive and keep working hard to get better. Try to keep your minds and hearts in the right place and stay focused on one game at a time. I know it's hard to trust and respect your coaching staff when the self appointed experts that sit in the cheap seats are trashing them win or lose. Rise above the negativity and enjoy playing the game, be the example for them, they're too busy tearing down the people who try to teach you how to play the game. I'll admit I can and do gripe about what I might think are bone head plays, play calling and strategy during the game in the heat of the battle, but then I realize I am not the one who is responsible for the W' & L's and get over myself. People talk about the coaches losing the team during the season, and the players giving up and packing it in. Well with all of that positive feed back they read about on here (sarcasm intended), that is just shocking how that could happen. GO Eagles get ready for the Broncos!

Ditto for me, Congrats to GCM on the big win regardless of conditions. Let the Rivalry begin. As for all of you great coaches out there, grab you a whistle and get yourself a team and lets see how you do when you venture out of the cheap seats and onto the sidelines. You can not be serious! You really think that someone who puts in the time and energy to be a high school football player does not want to win! That's the most asinine thing I have ever read (or posted) on this forum! They my not know "how" to win, but I assure you that they "want to" and "care" about winning! You are saying that they get their butts kicked and it does not bother them! BS! Welcome to the forum Tiger38. I just noticed that you are our newest member. Didn't take long for Ranger83 to jump your on case did it? You'll learn that there are some real self-appointed experts on the forum with you. You'll also learn who they are and who are not. That's the fun part. Anyway, welcome. In no way am I claiming to be an expert. But I will guarantee you that not one young man is practicing and preparing day in and day out to lose! In GCM's defense, they are a young squad and it takes time to develop that bond, tradition, comraderie etc...

Overrate verb overestimate, glorify, overvalue, oversell, make too much of, rate too highly, assess too highly, overpraise, exaggerate the worth of, overprize, think or expect too much of, think too highly of, attach to much importance to Let me use the word in a sentence for you: Barbers Hill football is overrated. Are we ranked in any polls? Not to my knowledge( maybe there is a poll that I haven't seen yet) so how are we over rated? Is it because we've won a few games? Or is it because some us get on this forum and try to sell our team, all in good fun. I don't think any of us here at the Hill, that are SERIOUS fans, think that we have a powerhouse football team. What we have, is a great group of kids that are working their butts off, they want to win and they are playing as a team. I don't think any of us, have some idealistic view, that our team has turned into some kind of football gods. So again, how are we over rated? If we were ranked in the top 10, then I'd say yes, we may be overrated...as far as I know, that isn't the case. I'll take our hardworking, over achieving, good attitude kids, over super talented jerks any day...even if we never win a State Championship again. Oohhh! I thought he meant we ate to much. ;D ;D ;D

I agree, and I also wouldn't mind seeing #11 in there on D with the game on the line and you just had to have a stop. But these games are character builders for the team, not so much for me though, I like the 2 or 3 TD wins. ;D ;D
