Division 1 District 11-2a (UIL draft Football realinment)2010
mudcat replied to a topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
UIL Web page has all the Division 1 and 2 District Realignment's IT is just a preview right now it is going on last years enrollment, so this thing could go a different way. Newton only turned in 307 for 2010-2011 enrollment that want change this lineup, but it will make them almost smallest team in this district. Anyways what is your opinion on this district alignment, if they do go through with it for the 2010-2011 season? Division 1 District 11 [glow=purple,2,300] [glow=red,2,300][/glow]Anahuac Buna Hardin Kirbyville Kountze Newton East chambers[/glow]
Woodville and Warren will both be larger than Newton, so Newton may go north or may be a small school district. -

I mean if you beat someone 48-0 it is not the same as 14-0. Most of the time a lesser team will score on your back ups late in a game. It happens all the time when you see a 48-6 game. I would have to see the scores of every game and the opponents of these games for shut outs to factor in. I mean if Coach Johnston shuts out Jasper and West Hardin , these are not the same. No more than Coach Thompson shutting out Jasper and Hampshire Fannett. I believe if you are comparing DC's that you would have to measure on State Championships only.
You WT proponents brought up shut outs, not me. But, I disagree with you. I think over 122 games, points wash due to the law of large numbers. Also, you can't measure State Championships because it takes more than defense to win a title. It takes defense, offense and special teams. So no, that's not a good measuring stick. I've seen teams with NO defense win titles because their offenses were just that good. In 2000, we went to the title game in 4A and our offense was terrible. But, if you think in the terms you are, you would say that we had the second best offense in the state... LOL Ask anyone who saw our offense that year and ask them if we had the second best... ;)
Most special teams are your defensive starters (if you're smart). If the other team doesn't score as much as you, you win. Bottom line.

2A Moving to Split-Conference Alignment
Wish they would do this for all sports
Usually whatever is done, as far as district allignments go, in football is done in all the other sports as well 2A-5a. Only in 1A have districts been alligned different for basketball, baseball, etc... This is done in 1A because there is a large number of schools that don't play football. -

That is, practice and play some position other than kicker during the game? Or do they just kick all practice?
Can anyone answer my question!
The kicker from Woodville gets my vote. He also starts on offense and defense and plays very well.
I agree that we need to bring the championship trophies to southeast Texas. The game has to be played, but I hope that both teams come out with all their players healthy. The winner I don't think is that important as both clubs will need their guys in the weeks following to make a run at bringing those trophies home. Personally, I could care less who wins. Let's make 22 2A a district to be respected by all others.
Look up. I don't believe it. And I don't think Coach Barbay has ever gone in to a game not trying to win at all cost. I am pretty sure in his state championship runs that he tried to win every game and thats the way it should be. Good luck to every team in Southeast Texas except when they play the Wildcats.

*Kirbyville vs. Woodville Updates/Kirbyville wins/Comments

Kville looks like they are starting to click on all cylinders. It was good to see lights out defense for the third week in a row. Good luck this week against the Wolves and I wonder if the train whistle will be allowed in SA? (probably not) -
*Kirbyville vs. Hemphill/Kirbyville wins 49-0/Comments

You might be bitting off more than you can chew. Arp haven't played the caliber teams Kirbyville has played. Yall were lucky to keep a close game last year considering all the muffed punts on Kirbyville behalf. uhmm let me think you guys had 2 muffed punts, went up 15-0 with less than 3 min into the 1st qtr and was up 22-6 at half. Yet, Arp was still there with a chance to win taking the lead in the 3rd 26-22. I don't know man maybe it was you guys are who got lucky sounds like to me. I mean both TD's in the 1st qtr were TO's by Arp and 1 on the first snap of the game inside the 5 the second was the next pos by Arp the second snap of the drive and Kville int's the ball. Arp also threw an INT at the end of the game after marching 54 yards and looking to move in for the out of reach score nail in the heart drive. Kville was 4th and 16 when they threw a 20 yards pass when Cooper missed the int through his hands and the ball landing in Kvills reciever's hands and he was wide open for the score. So yeah I say luck was against Arp in that game but Arp will make it's own good fortune this year I have to jump in on this. Even though some of your information on the game is correct, the last part is not. I'm pretty sure it was 2nd and 10 and the ball did not go through Coopers hands (he was the free safety in the middle of the field) when Hazlewood hit Musgrove on about a 10 yd curl , and then Musgrove ran across the field for about 60 yds and your #7 didn't even try to catch him, he quit on the play(maybe he was hurt?) Either way get your facts straight. -
***SETXSPORTS.COM WEEK 7 HIGH SCHOOL FOOTBALL RANKINGS***
mudcat replied to WOSgrad's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
Don't wink at me...lol ;D Maybe I moved us up a little far, even though we are that good - but we shouldn't have dropped out entirely. OF is definitely up too far - reminds me of Texas Tech...they can score but cant stop anybody (besides HF & Tarkington). Corrigan & Coldspring while good, shouldn't be in the ranking - maybe east tex ranking REALLY??? ;D ;D I believe the Anahuac fan spoke to late. Maybe they should have been higher, but they will probably move completely off the page after losing to EC. and yes keep CC andColdspring off this SOUTHEASTTEXAS Site. -
I would think you would pick Kville knowing that you want the unbeatable Arp Tigers to play a district champion on your way to a state title.
-
Kville 42 - 7 even with the penalties
-
Arp haven't played anybody, If it wasn't for the muffed punts last year this game wouldn't have been close. True
-
This years Arp team is a lot like watching Muleshoe. They run basically the same offensive stragety. Arp's gain in size is almost unreal for a 1 year change. They have an avg at 259 lb on the Oline and 245 on the Dline. I really expect to see Muleshoe there waiting on Arp this year. They have there studs back. That # 44 from muleshoe is a dang fast kid with good size. I got to say I hope to see Kville again. It was such a great game last year. I live so far away it's hard to get a good vibe on how good Kville is from east Texas. I was told that Muleshoe lost their three "studs" to graduation, QB(Wood), RB(Wood) and WR(Rodriges). I am sure they reloaded but these guys are suppose to be gone.

If anybody a panzy it would be the Wolves of San Augustine. We know how to take a lose and show good sportmanship unlike San Augustine. Your team was gettin murdered last year 54-0 in the 4th quarter with 7 minutes to go and they decided to leave the whole field and got dress and left Kirbyville. What kind of crap is that? This year we come to San Augustine and it will be the fans that early this time. ;D ;D ;D Maybe cuz the people of KVille are all punks... You couldnt put Shelbyville away, then you cant put SA away like that. KVille doesnt have what it takes this year, Newton has you covered. Take that Jenny's Friend Chicken and stick it where the sun doesnt shine. You're an idiot.

Nice to see a Arp fan supporting our wildcats. I have to disagree with you on the point spread because of k-ville talented team and well coach. Do not worry yourself jjspeed arp will see daddy k-ville in the third round of the playoffs to secure our parenthood over Arp tigers. GO BIG RED ;D Trust me when I say i am your biggest supporter till you get to the 3rd round then game on. I have never wanted to see a rematch so bad. But I am sure you guys are praying for Jefferson to lose so we have to knock the champs out. We will win either side. don't matter Who does Arp have to go through to get to Kville?

Silsbee @ Jasper/DOGS WIN ON LATE TD!/COMMENTS
mudcat replied to AggiesAreWe's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
Why? What going to change when they start district? Listening to the broadcast left me with a really bad feeling for the players in Silsbee. Lose a close one to Newton and a close one tonight. And they both came down to poor game management IMO. -

Does anyone have the stats on this game? I would like to know how many fits the HJ offense actually gave the Kville defense. -
'Wildcat' formation catches on at high schools
mudcat replied to KFDM COOP's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
I think this is hilarious. I new this comment would be made sooner or later about the "wildcat formation". Colleges and high schools have been doing it for years and the NFL finally caught on. Look at your college and high school teams that run the "wildcat/spread offense" (and yes they are basically the same thing). Most, not all, but most of them have a running back that imitates a QB taking the snaps. -
Amen. catch the ball... make the tackle... throw good passes... hold on to the ball... block somebody... duuuuuuhhhhhhhhh
-
I believe you tell your son that it happens even to the best. Watching alot of fb on the weekend you will notice that it happens to millionaires also. Keep your confidence and you will catch most of the balls if you have the talent and skill to do so.

Obviously not a fumble. I believe the machanics of officials these days are hurting the game. I've talked to some coaches who say that all the referees on the sides of the line of scrimmage are worried about is keeping coaches off the field (some with good reason). Most of the time these refs. are out of position to make the correct call and to keep the player jawing to a mininum. If the refs. would get a little closer to the game like back in the day, they would be more efficient and would not blow as many calls.
