I don't know what I had done that was wrong, but I posted this when we got back from the tourney, and it has since been removed. The boys had a great week battling rain the entire week. They were the only undefeated team, and it was a bitter pill to have the tourney cancelled with clear skies and in the semi-finals. Thanks to Coach Morgan Walker, Wes Koch and James Bergeron for a great season.

GSF placed five on the all-state team. They are: Luke Lozoya - Jr - First Team, Conner Stevens - Jr - First Team, Matthew Moore - Sr - Second Team, Shane Standley - Fr - Second Team, and Daniel Bean - 8th - Second Team. The boys played outstanding all season, and GSF finishes the season 18 - 10. Here is the Game-Changer narrative for the state championship win: Jake Lozoya drove in three runs as the GSF Hornets took home a 9-6 victory over Harvest Time CA in seven innings at Erath, LA on Saturday. Jake Lozoya drove in three runs as the GSF Hornets took home a 9-6 victory over Harvest Time CA in seven innings at Erath, LA on Saturday. He singled in the fifth inning. Luke Lozoya was a workhorse on the hill while bagging the win for the GSF Hornets. Luke Lozoya allowed two earned runs, five hits and three walks while striking out 13 over seven innings of work. The top of the first saw Harvest Time CA take an early lead, 1-0. A double by Aaron Coon, scoring Peyton Duke started the inning off. The lead stayed with the GSF Hornets after the fourth, when they scored five runs on three singles and a walk by Jacob Duhon. A four-run fifth inning helped bring Harvest Time CA within one. An error and a three-run double by Caleb LeSalle sparked Harvest Time CA's rally. Finally, Luke Lozoya induced an inning-ending ground out from Luke LeBlanc. The GSF Hornets added three more runs in the bottom of the fifth. The inning got off to a hot start when Jake Lozoya singled, plating Daniel Bean and Matthew Moore. One run in the top of the seventh helped Harvest Time CA close its deficit to 9-6. An error fueled Harvest Time CA's comeback. Finally, Luke Lozoya got Cris Gathers to to end the game. -
GSF won the ACE state championship 9-6 over Harvest Time Christian Academy. We placed 5 on the all-state teams. Post more when I get back home.

The Good Samaritan Fellowship Hornets will play for the ACE state championship on Saturday at 2:00 in Erath, Louisiana. GSF beat Baton Rouge CHEF 12 - 8 in their half of the semi-final bracket. They will face the Harvest Time Christian Academy Lions in the championship. These two faced each other earlier in the season at Silsbee with GSF taking it 12 - 11 on March 16. Association of Christian Educators (ACE) is a group of home-school and small Christian schools. It is based primarily out of Louisiana, with roughly 37 schools/groups participating. GSF is the only school from Texas. The roster for GSF is as follows: 2 - John Kilpatrick - Sr - Silsbee, Texas, 5 - Aaron Standley - 7th - Silsbee, Texas, 10 - Conner Stevens - Jr - Beaumont, Texas, 11 - Shane Standley - Fr - Silsbee, Texas, 13 - Jake Eason - Soph - Warren, Texas, 15 - JR Overstreet - Fr - Warren, Texas, 22 - Jacob Duhon - Soph - Fred, Texas, 31 - Daniel Bean - 8th - Bridge City, Texas, 34 - Matthew Moore - Sr - Fred, Texas, 35 - Luke Lozoya - Jr - Beaumont, Texas, 40 - Titus Bean - 7th - Bridge City, Texas, 48 - Jake Lozoya - 7th - Beaumont, Texas, 55 - Tyler Holland - 7th - Kirbyville, Texas. Here is the Game Changer narrative for the game tonight: The GSF Hornets outlast CHEF Baton Rouge in high-scoring affair, 12-8 The GSF Hornets and CHEF Baton Rouge lit up the scoreboard on Thursday as they combined for 20 runs. In the end, GSF Hornets won the offensive battle 12-8 in seven innings. Hitters on both sides were strong at the plate as the teams combined for 15 hits, including three extra base hits. Matthew Moore had two extra-base hits for the GSF Hornets. He singled in the second inning, tripled in the fourth inning, and doubled in the sixth inning. Moore got the win for the GSF Hornets. He allowed four runs over four innings. Moore struck out three, walked four and gave up one hit. The top of the first saw CHEF Baton Rouge take an early lead, 2-0. A single by Joseph Landry, scoring Stephen Normand and Trent Kinchen started the inning off. The GSF Hornets posted one run in each of the first, second, fifth, and sixth. In the first, the GSF Hornets scored on an RBI triple by Luke Lozoya, plating Jacob Eason. The game was never in doubt after the fourth, as the GSF Hornets scored eight runs on three errors, a groundout by Conner Stevens, and three singles. A two-run fifth inning helped bring CHEF Baton Rouge within six. A passed ball and a passed ball fueled CHEF Baton Rouge's comeback. The GSF Hornets stopped the rally after Daniel Bean got Steven Haley to strike out. The GSF Hornets scored one run in the fifth inning, and then followed it up with one more in the sixth. In the fifth, the GSF Hornets scored on an error, scoring Shane Standley. Four runs in the top of the sixth helped CHEF Baton Rouge close its deficit to 11-8. A walk by N, an RBI single by Patrick Hardy, a fielder's choice, and an error set off CHEF Baton Rouge rally. Finally, Shane Standley got Steven H to ground out to end the threat.

Boys are looking forward to it. We have a very young team, and I sure hope to get more involved in playing during the summer. Looking forward to Thursday and hope the boys pack their bats with them, and leave their errors at home. 2 games left, and gotta keep their minds right and motivated toward the goal. GSF beat Riverdale (Baton Rouge) Christian Academy 22 - 1. This was the ACE quarterfinal game, and propels GSF into a semi-final matchup on Thursday. GSf will play Baton Rouge CHEF (Christian Home Educated Families) on Thursday in Erath, Louisiana. Great job Hornets. Here is the Game Changer run-down: The GSF Hornets blew out Riverdale CA 22-1 on Monday at GSF after pouring on 13 runs in the second inning. Jacob Eason racked up seven RBIs on four hits for the GSF Hornets. He doubled in the second and third innings and singled in the second and fourth innings. Daniel Bean pitched lights out for the GSF Hornets. Riverdale CA managed just one hit off of Bean, who allowed no earned runs, walked two and struck out four during his 2 2/3 innings of work. The GSF Hornets hammered Riverdale CA pitching as nine hitters had a field day, combining for 17 hits, 19 RBIs and 19 runs scored.

We would like to encourage all to come out and pack the stands. We try to provide a family-fun atmosphere, and an exciting brand of baseball. The quarterfinals are played 1-8, 2-7, 3-6, 4-5. The 4 winners will convene on Erath, Louisiana on Thursday for the semi-finals and the state championship will be played on Saturday.

GSF Travels to Marshall, Texas to play East Texas Christian Academy on the campus of ETBU on Thursday. This is a warm-up game for the playoffs for both teams. Hornets lose 6 - 4. The Hornets close out the season at 10 - 3 in conference play, and will not know their final playoff seeding until Friday. They will host a playoff game Monday at 6 at Silsbee LL. I will post the information as soon as I get it. We have a coaches meeting Friday in Lafayette to go over the post season and vote on all-state selections.
