Good Samaritan Hornets: [Hidden Content] Home field is Silsbee Little League: 8165 Bryant Dr; Silsbee, TX 77656. -
The Good Samaritan Fellowship (GSF) Hornet basketball teams have made both the varsity girls and boys playoffs. We are a small group of home-schooled students who participate in various varsity sporting programs. We play in ACEL, which is a private / home-school league based in Louisiana. The varsity boys will be hosting their very first playoff game this Saturday night at the Silsbee HS gym. The game will start at 7. They will be playing our rivals, Southwest Home School from neighboring Lake Charles, La. We would appreciate any support we could get, and look forward to the opportunity of hosting a playoff game. For more information, see our web-site at: [Hidden Content]; Thanks to the Silsbee ISD for their support and the use of their beautiful facility.

The Hornets are proud to announce that our new home is the Silsbee Little League Senior League field. We are very appreciative to the Silsbee LL board who voted last night to allow us to play all of our home games at their facility. We will have seven home games this season. If you are interested in providing any type of sponsorship please see our web-site ([Hidden Content]) for more information. Our first two road games were cancelled against Sabine Pass and West Hardin due to our boys making the ACEL state playoffs. Looking forward to traveling to High Island for our first game.

Please remember the mini-camp / tryout is this Saturday, February 9, 2013. It will be held at Marauder Park in Lumberton / Loeb, Texas, and will run from 10:00 - 2:00. This is a home-schooled athletic program that competes locally on a varsity level. For more information on the program visit our web-site at [url=[Hidden Content]]. As of now we have approximately twenty-five (25) games scheduled, beginning February 19 at Sabine Pass. As far as I know this is the only program like this in the entire SETX area. Home-schooled athletic programs are growing, and our program has grown exponentially over the last year. We look forward to seeing all athletes from 7th to 12th grade that are interested in participating in an up and coming baseball program.

The GSF Lady Hornets lost their first district game 45 - 42 in triple overtime. They traveled to CHEF Baton Rouge and gave them all they could handle. We are very proud of them.

Looking forward to Saturday night. Play hard and push on.

Looking forward to whole season of Good Samaritan Hornet 6-man football next year.

I think Coach Franklin has the team headed in the right direction. I think the cheerleaders were not a distraction, but an inspiration. I look forward to seeing what they can do with a whole season to prepare for. Best of luck Kountze.

Good Samaritan played High Island's JV. I apologize for the confusion earlier. -
My nephew is on the team, and I wish the Pirates best of luck. We were able to make one of the games and Joey had several nice runs. Strong line, great running game, and opens the pass up. Groveton will be a stiff test, but you've prepared yourself for it. Be anxiously awaiting the updates as we will be in Houston for a baseball tourney.

Not sure, any guess I make would simply be an assumption. -

From friends that still live there, they tell me the younger groups have more students. They have told me the jr. high has a pretty good group. It is disappointing to see, but I have faith the 'Jackets will get through this. -

Good Samaritan is playing High Island tonight at High Island. This is a 6-man warm-up game for High Island. It is only the second game ever played by Good Samaritan, who played Chester earlier this year. -
Gotta go with the Cardinals winning it this year. They are loaded for the next 3-5 years.

Nice post Rod. Very glad to hear ya'll will be back and in full swing. It is wild how many stories swirl out there. I guess in the absence of truth, rumors will fill the void. Tim Bean -

You're right JWB. Those that were on the team last year haven't been contacted in any way. Very frustrating. -

The following is just my opinion, Forming a new team is something that is thought of, but it gets harder the older the boys get. The majority of the tournaments are somewhere other than the Golden Triangle. Marauder Park has some, but that is it locally. Plus, to be competitive, you have got to have pitching. Well, as the teams get funneled down, pitching is at a premium. Younger teams are more participative, and having just an athlete can get you through. As they get older though, skills and abilities are a necessity. Additionally, you get into practice facilities as they get older. You have to have a larger field, and you really need an indoor cage to work the team out and get ready for the season. You have really got to have committed parents in addition to the boys. It is a long season, and having to travel plays havoc on families and finances. Additionally, when the boys were younger everyone got to play. It is hard for a family to pay upwards of $150 a month, and have their youngster sit for tournaments at a time. My opinion is, the older they get, the more you see the funnel working. Those that are really interested will find a place to play. Best of luck to those out there. -

I think Marauder and Franchise are one in the same. I am not sure though, and there could be several others I'm not aware of. I was going off of the teams we played last year. -

The following are the teams I am aware of (in no particular order): 1. Gladiator Baseball (Beaumont), 2. Gulf Coast Storm (Orange), 3. Demolition Baseball (Orange), 4. Prospects Baseball (Mid County), 5. Xtreme Baseball (Anahuac), 6. Franchise (Hardin County), 7. Louisiana Prospects (Moss Bluff/Westlake), and 8. Bullet Baseball (Lake Charles, La). I know the Gladiator's have already posted their tryout, and most of the rest should post soon. As they continue to post I wish you the best of luck on finding a team. -

From the megatropolis that is Chester, 1982 graduate Bo Stanley. He was a beast in every sport, and was a senior when I was freshman. -
Looking forward to it. Going to get D registered tonight. I always love the laid back, teaching atmosphere that fall-ball brings. Hope we get a good amount of players registered for another successful season.
