  2. Saturday at beautiful Aubrey Bradley Stadium, for homecoming, Chester will come out and take a hard fought game. I am thinking 14 - 10, but the score will be less than a touchdown difference. Burkeville put it on us for a lot of years, upwards of 77 - 0, so hopefully the little stadium between the hill and the pines will be kind and let the 'Jackets have a victory.
  3. I love the win Silsbee got last week, but I'm thinking upset here: Cardinals - 21 Tigers - 17.
  4. Looking forward to homecoming next week against Burkeville. I thought HD would take this, just hope we can finish out the season strong against a tough remaining schedule. Would be great to finish better than .500.
  5. Sorry, I left out the Rockies in the National League and the Angels in the American League. Sorry!
  6. I love this time of year. We have football on Friday - Monday (college on Saturday my fave), and best of all the playoffs in baseball. I think back to being a kid and watching the games with my dad, with all our friends over and mom making pizza. Who are you pulling for this Fall? Who are you rooting against? We have the National League: > Cardinal, > Dodgers, and > Phillies, and the American League: > Yankees, > Twins, and > Red Sox. I think I'll be pulling for Torre (can't stand Manny) to face off against the Yankees in the Fall classic. The Twins get my sympathetic vote, but I think they are emotionally drained. Just thought I'd throw the question out.
  7. The word from the coaches meeting last night is the ragball tourney has been postponed a ween due to weather. If you haven't made plans to play and attend, that gives you an extra week to get a team together.
  8. I've got a lot of friends from WO-S, but I'm hoping Silsbee can pull this one out. I'm going to say Silsbee - 21 WO-S - 17. Don't really care either way, but it would be nice to see an upset.
  9. I was close last week on my prediction, bu this week is a whole lot tougher. HD is usually pretty tough, and they were always a bigger 2A back in the day. I know the 'jackets will come out stinging, but this will be a close game. I think Chester strings some wins together, and the final will be Chester 14 HD 13.
  10. The Astros are sort of like the Aggies.....every year I get my hopes up only to have them dashed early and often.
  11. The Tigers will have a long off-season. That had to be one of the best games I have ever seen. I am amazed that you get runners in scoring position, late in the game, and you do not try to squeeze them in. I know there are risks associated with this, but the Tigers didn't score not trying it. I think there were several times in the late innings when they had runners at third with less than 2 outs, so they had the opportunities. I am not sure who I will be pulling for now, because after watching that I am pretty impressed with the Twins organization. Wow, what a game.
  12. # 6 isn't too bad, and I'm sure hoping it will be a little higher next week. That Cardinal line continues to improve, and they will be in for a big test this week from "Stang Blue. Here's hoping that Saturday will be overcast and cool. While your en route to the game you can come by the Little League field in Bridge City, which is right by STJFL Cardinal Stadium and participate in the GTB ragball tournament. The game isn't til 1:00, so get a team together and come compete with teams from around the area in the 1st Annual GTB Ragball tourney.
  13. No information? Anything would be helpful, perhaps something your brother's girlfriend's sister told her aun-t, which was overheard from your preacher's deacon's son up in Fargo, North Dakota don't you know.
  14. We played both last year, as I'm sure everyone else did, and I preferred staying in Texas at Ford Park. For some reason, it seemed like we played more tournaments in Lake Charles, and always seemed to complain when we went over there. I'm pretty easy going though and we will probably try to even it out and play both venues again this year. It is a benefit to qualify for both world series, never knowing exactly which one your parents would prefer playing in. I wish we could have played in both last year, but it worked out that both were in the same week. Last year we stayed close to home knowing that we had so many families trying to recover from Ike, but I'm hoping 2010 sees us taking a trip to let the kids play somewhere different. Personally, my vote will be Omaha so I can watch the CWS, but I'll let the parents make the decision. Can't wait until February gets here, and we can get things going.
  15. Pure luck, but I wasn't too far off.
  16. That's awesome, we were never any good when I was in school, so a win... any win is always a welcomed thing.
  17. When someone gets a final please post it.
  18. Does anyone know about this organization? Tryouts were advertised for several weeks in the local papers and we went to Spring, Tx for tryouts. The guy running the tryout was a scout for the Dodgers, and everything seemed pretty legitimate. He ended up making one of the 12/13 year old teams and we're making plans to go to Puerto Rico early 2010. I have asked several people about it and no one has heard anything about them. I think they are based out of Missouri. I've done what research I can on the internet, and we're excited about taking the trip. I would just like to hear from y'all if you have any information, positive or negative.
  19. Explain ragball to me......I know it's a stupid question, but I'm ignorant on the ways of the world. I don't need the entire set of rules, but give me the quick scoop.
  20. The 'Jackets will take this 34 to 10. This will be played at Aubrey Bradley Stadium in beautiful downtown Chester. Sabine Pass won't know what to do without the mosquitoes.
  21. The flu is running rampant through the area, hope it doesn't play into too many games.
  22. Chester 24 - Colmesneil bull-puppies 10. Sting 'em jackets.
  23. Legacy lost Mister Coach Cobb and Legacy lost football. The young man they brought in is nice, but he is very young and I don't think he has ever played football. I am amazed Legacy keeps their doors open with what they pay their teachers.
  24. Back in the day.....(I graduated in '86) Burkeville would put it on us. I work with Alfred and Tim Spikes, and I told 'em I remembered them....but only ever saw the back of their jerseys as they were scoring touchdown after touchdown. Everything goes in cycles, but I can't remember the last time we were good for any period of time.....unless you talk about baseball. We have some strong teams in our district, but I think you are probably going to be close.
  25. We are rarely competitive in football, but we always have some big ol' boys. They stand around in the stands because when they are in school they weigh lil' to nothing. After they graduate they get big.....gotta haul that pulp-wood. I hope they can make a run, and Coach Franklin is a great coach. Sting 'em jackets.
