In ways it seems like a lifetime ago and in others like it was just yesterday. I was working midnights at BPD. I got home to our house in Mauriceville and was getting ready for bed. I normally watched SportsCenter but every channel was covering what was going on in downtown New York City. I woke the wife up and sat on the edge of the bed watching in disbelief, horror and anger all at once. Our country was instantly brought together. Church rolls skyrocketed as people turned toward God. Sadly, people forget and memories fade. People turn squarely away from God and depravity, separation and divisiveness take back over. As real as “Remember the Alamo” was to our forefathers, “9/11 - Never Forget” is as real to me. Prayers for our country, prayers to those families who paid the ultimate sacrifice that day and prayers for healing, unity and revival. God bless America. 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸

Chester 3 / Colmesneil 0 (25-10, 25-11, 25-15)

Way to go Lady ‘Jackets. Girls are having a great season so far. Chester, Tx, population 317, and one of the smallest 1A’s in the state.
-
Be pulling for those Bulldogs.

Everyone else hyping their school up - How ‘bout them Yellowjackets!!!!! Taking on Galveston O'Connell this week down on the island.

Chester wins 51-22 over the Penelope Wolverines.

I personally am okay with a little cool down right now. They have a very tough stretch with the Orioles/Phillies/Royals. They split with the Orioles, and if they can win one from the Phillies and split with the Royals I’ll be happy. Hopefully we’ll get some people back, get them acclimatized and back in playing shape, the pitchers who have been slumping can get hot and we can make another deep run. Lots of ifs - but I like our chances.

Chester won the Lufkin Silver Bracket defeating the Orangefield Bobcats 2-1 in match play. Great job by the Lady Yellowjackets!

We shall see in November. All I can do is vote, and then I have done my part. Then the only thing left to do is pray to the Father. Time will tell. Monday, October 21st is the first day of early voting.

This side of the site is like a train wreck - you can’t look away. I haven’t looked this way in a few weeks and I was just looking at the thread titles - my goodness!!!! It’s like you can see the tongue’s sticking out - “Oh yea, well you’re (candidate, party, enter whatever divisive term you want) did this!” I think Rodney King said it best.

[Hidden Content]# Congratulations to Chief Tim Ocnaschek.
-
According to 12NewsNow he was #5, and just outside the final 4. They are saying that Plunkett was passed over due to an old law suit. Now, that law suit had no merit, but that (according to the article) was the reason he was passed over. I believe Plunkett would have done a great job, but if this is the compromise that makes all sectors of council and the community happy, then this is the best case scenario for all. I don’t look for there to be too many changes to the upper administration. Tim Ocnaschek will do a fantastic job.

Congratulations to Chief Ocnaschek. I know he will do a great job of maintaining the standard of excellence and even push it further. He is a fellow USAF veteran, and is a very intelligent person. I am very happy they kept it in-house, as I know that BPD does a great job of growing great leaders and managers. Any of the BPD candidates would have been a great hire.

If (and I say if) they hire someone from outside the final 4 applicants, that is local: 1) How much money was wasted on hiring a recruiting firm to run this process? 2) Does that not open up litigation from the remaining local candidate? I will wait to see what happens, but this process has ran smoothly for years. There are always 3-5 people at a minimum who have worked their career to excel at leadership and management and that position themselves for a run at the chief’s spot. It has been successful with great chiefs who served the community well. Why deviate from success? Why the sudden need to change all of that?

Butterfly Effect - powerful video (and thought provoking)

1970 to 1983, and was a sergeant. When I was growing up, besides Roger Staubach, he was my hero and why I went into law enforcement.

Amen!!!!! I would actually prefer the government to stay out of my business.

Was it Prince who said, “You say you want a leader but you can’t seem to make up your mind, I think you better close ‘em and let me guide you to the Trump Train” Powerful words indeed.
-
That would be my thought too. I figure they’ll draw it out and hopefully the right decision will be made.
-
Article says they will focus on a local candidate. What that means we do not know. [Hidden Content]#

Mayorkas - okay I feel completely confident now (sarcasm intended).

😧 Some liberal company will scoop her up. That is truly classless.

I know that I lean toward the conservative side, and I know that I do not necessarily discount conspiracies. However, if you are sitting around and waiting on the government to spoon feed you the answers you are part of the problem. Awaiting the FBI to tell me this wasn’t a political assassination attempt, or that it was is pointless. Be a free thinker. Look at what is out there and decide for yourself. President Trump is very fortunate that he was not struck by a bullet that missed by mere centimeters from being fatal. Do not let the media inflame you and stay informed.
