Fayetteville wins the top half of the semi bracket 19-6 over Abbott. Chester vs Ira in about 45 minutes. Let’s go ‘Jackets!!!

Fayetteville gets 1 back and after 4 complete leads 19-6. Abbott down to the last 3 outs.

Abbott gets a few back in the top half, 18-6 Fayetteville. Abbott won the 1A state championship last year.

After 3 complete, Fayetteville is up 18-3 over Abbott.

Seeing a pretty good turnout from the Chester community. Got to visit with an old teammate of mine who is an uncle to one of the players on this year’s team. Even have an old coach in attendance, Rusty Minyard.

Still in the 3rd, Fayetteville has gone up 15-3, and still batting. Looking like this one will be done in 5.

Looks like delays in game times due to weather. First game will start at 11 am. Chester will be playing at 3pm now.

It has been frustrating seeing the lack of coverage from virtually EVERY media outlet. We (Chester) are in the SE Texas coverage area. There are no radio broadcast from our area, and Ch 12 is the only one that has even mentioned it. I know I could have gotten donations to cover a SETX Sports broadcast. Oh well, water under the bridge - we aren’t as big as Silsbee, WO-S or PN-G.

They put him back in the box. Luckily we won anyway, but I don’t think I’d ever seen that before. That’s one of the things I love about baseball - you NEVER know what you’ll see.

It is officially game day!!!! Let’s go ‘Jackets!!! I’ll be starting a game thread when I get to the field and provide updates. It helps keep my mind focused. This is a big day for our small community. I was gone for about 30 years (military, career - working in Bmt) and fought hard to get back. Legget has always been tough!!!

Man - we were horrible my HS years. Had 2 guys I worked with that played at Burkeville. They said they loved playing us to pad their stats. We had fun, but competing was not there. It’s funny - you look in the stands and there are some hosses, but only happens after we graduate. I never broke 135 pounds until I was like 22 and in the military. Thanks for the encouragement for the boys - we are proud of them.

Chester, a small town in NE Tyler County. A town that is seeing growth with the addition of a national chain store and a new school being built. If you travel 287 toward Dallas from the Golden Triangle you have probably passed through Chester. Things tend to stay pretty consistent and it is your typical small town. A trip to state is the buzz around town, and the talk before church services begin on Sunday. This year’s graduating class will number 11. We don’t have a radio station that covers the Yellowjackets. We are never a lead story on any of the news stations that broadcast to our community. With all that said, there is a closeness and sense of pride in our community. Every community rallies behind their kids as they progress into the playoffs. We are proud of our boys as they have represented our community well and with class. We invite you to follow our boys as they go to state. We welcome the greater SETX communities as honorary Yellowjackets. There will be a community send-off and impromptu parade through town on Tuesday at 1:30 to send the boys off. All are welcome to attend and cheer the Yellowjackets on to Round Rock.

Possibly another major point too was the opening up of the economy. The oil exploration and jobs added.

I just don’t believe there are that many people “on the fence”. People pretty much know who they are voting for (or at least voting against).

Man I really feel bad for Warren. My dad taught there for years and loved that school. They have great kids and a great community. I think (possibly naively) that anything can work and be successful if you work hard enough at it. Best of luck to the Warriors on their search.
