#5 Nederland @ #3 Angleton Predictions
Puma42 replied to PhatMack19's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
Big statement looking to be made by both teams here. I'm a Nederland fan and my pick may be viewed as biased, but I'm picking Nederland in a close one. There is just something special about this team. No doubt this will be both teams' toughest test yet. I'm willing to bet Angleton will be the toughest offense Nederland will face this year in the regular season. I'm looking for a game similar to last year's Nederland vs. Pearland Dawson playoff game. Nederland - 27 Angleton - 21 -

ESPNU Tonight at 8pm Sealy vs St. Pius
Puma42 replied to Mr. Buddy Garrity's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
I have a feeling Seals-Jones will be in maroon and white next year after A&M BTHO Florida on Saturday, and with this help from Stewart 8) ;D: Like many elite players, there's a mutual respect that exists between Sealy (Texas) receiver Ricky Seals-Jones and Houston St. Pius X quarterback Kohl Stewart. They've played each other before, both are highly-ranked recruits and they're each among the best at their respective positions nationally. While there is a healthy respect, there's also a bit of a friendship between the pair: they text each other on a regular basis and have since they first met last year. [+] Enlarge Tom Hauck for ESPN.com Top-ranked wideout Ricky Seals-Jones will be one of several prospects in College Station this weekend. So you can bet that Stewart, who is committed to Texas A&M, has been in the ear of Seals-Jones, the No. 10 player in the ESPN 150 and the nation's No. 1-ranked receiver, about the Aggies. "He knows I'm trying to get his butt over at A&M," Stewart said. "I'm trying not to be to harsh on him and let him make his own decision. He's a special player and he has a lot of ability." Seals-Jones has offers from countless schools but is considering Texas, Texas A&M, LSU and Baylor for the time being. Like Stewart, Seals-Jones is among at least two dozen highly-regarded recruits that are expected to be in attendance at Kyle Field on Saturday when Texas A&M makes its Southeastern Conference debut against Florida. The pair also play each other tonight at 9 p.m. ET/8 p.m. CT on ESPNU as Sealy travels to St. Pius X. They met last season, a 33-25 Sealy win in which Seals-Jones ran for 143 yards and a touchdown. "Me and Kohl text a lot," Seals-Jones said. "We text on a daily basis. Me and him are cool guys. I met him last year at St. Pius and he hit me up on Facebook and ever since then, we've just been keeping in touch with each other." As for the weekend, Seals-Jones said he's looking forward to taking in the game in College Station, Texas. "I'm excited," Seals-Jones said. "First I have to take care of my game first. But other than that, I'm excited to go check it out." Stewart, who is the seventh-ranked pocket passer in the country and 91st overall in the ESPN 150, knows that Seals-Jones would be a huge addition to the Texas A&M recruiting class. "Oh no doubt," Stewart said. "I'm going to let him make his own decision, he's got to do whatever is best for him. But he knows how we feel and how he'd fit into the system at A&M. If we got a player like him, it'd definitely help us out." Stewart, too, is looking forward to attending the Florida game and using his sales pitch on Seals-Jones in the process -- though not before taking care of business on the field. "From Thursday to Sunday I'm all over Ricky after we beat his a--," Stewart said with a laugh. "We're ready. Hopefully he can get over it by Saturday and buddy back up with me again, but we'll see." -
So that I understand the rules properly, you pick a team each week to win. If your team wins, you advance to the next week. If your team loses, you are eliminated from the contest. You are not allowed to pick the same team twice in this contest. Correct? Ok, for this week I will take CE King.
That is correct

Goose Creek Memorial @ Nederland Predictions
Puma42 replied to GoDogs27's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
Come on guys, this is getting silly. You can't compare teams from what you see in a scrimmage. Nederland was not playing some select starters on D cause they were banged up and I think I remember hearing they put some D-linemen on the O-line to experiment. On top of this, coaches experiment with different packages and stunts in scrimmages. I'm sure Dayton was doing this too, and they obviously found some success. If you guys are really trying to compare Nederland and Dayton from that scrimmage, that's downright stupid. People can say Nederland this and Dayton that all they want, no one will get anywhere until these 2 teams meet on a football field for a real game. I'd like to think that'll happen this year in the playoffs, but since both teams are likely to finish near the top of their districts the chances are slim. Good luck to both teams this year, and here's to hopefully meeting up in the playoffs so this issue can be put to rest. 8) -

Just hope you dont have to play us in the playoffs. Those people you mock gave nederland their worst beating in school history. 63-0 scoreboard couldnt turn off fast enough.
I don't think Dayton has had an athlete of the same caliber as A.J. Dugat since that season, including this season.
considering the score was 63-0. I dont think we really needed him that night. Dayton has plenty of athletes this year but your right parade all americans dont come around to often.
If I remember correctly he scored probably 6 or 7 of Dayton's 9 TD's that night. I know for a fact he scored 3 different ways that night via rush, punt return, and reception. I can't remember if he had a passing TD that night or not. Without him, the scoreboard wouldn't have been near as bad a sight to Bulldog eyes.
