It is highly unlikely any high school student actually runs a 4.4

Sticking with EC until someone else earns it.

I got your number... teams that seem to own the other?
Hotrodg replied to a topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
For Newton: Own: Kirbyville (really though it is pretty rare for a team of the same classification in the area to beat Newton) Owned by: Marlin -
They will not meet in the playoffs. They will be in different divisions. They do meet in week 10.

Don't get me wrong. 7 on 7 is far from worthless. Great way for kids to stay in shape and to train still developing muscles etc.. But yeah, using 7 on 7 results to predict football success is like saying a school will win discrict in football because they did well in baseball.

Tell us something we don't know :'( There is always next year tough ;D I don't know Folks. The BH-Dayton game well be a very great I believe. Don Price always haves something up his sleeve Realistically, it is a mis-match this year. You never know though..

Uhm...OK.

Ask Georgetown how well 7 on 7 prepares you for football. They won the state championship in 7 on 7 last year and that translated to a season in which they did not make the playoffs. In a division that takes FOUR teams from each disctrict.

That is from THIS very thread!

Newton vs. Kirbyville and whichever game turns out to be the 7th win of the season that will be Curtis Barbay's 300th. (hopefully this will be the 7th game so it can be a home game) Playoff Matchup vs. Cisco - mainly because these two can't meet in the postseason earlier than the title game

Could not tell you. I am going off what the coaches reported to DCTF.

Who Wins The District Title In 21 3A?

22 people so far think a team that is not WOS will win the district. -
District to charge fee to athletes
Hotrodg replied to KFDM COOP's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
I'd rather see fees than programs canceled. There are those that argue all money spent on sports and other extracurricular activities should be redirected to academics. (I am not one of them.) Just wait until any student riding a bus is asked to pay a "Fuel Fee". -
After reading the replies above I have to admit though the counties I outlined roughly encompass "my SETX" I agree with the Trinity being the western border. For example I include Winnie but not Mont Belvieu etc.. So that does include the eastern part of Chambers. I also agree with the inclusion of Bolivar. As a reminder to all: This thread is not intended to be a poll of who should or should not be covered here. The folks running this site do a great job of that already. I wholeheartedly agree teams that share district alignments with SETX teams should be covered. I also think it is silly to exclude SETX teams that get put in districts mostly in other areas. Either way the issue is entirely separate from what is your personal opinion of what comprises the geographic region known as "Southeast Texas". It doesnt even necessarily have anything to do with sports directly.

E CHAMBERS is 27 miles from Beaumont...70 from Houston. Chambers County is adjacent to Jefferson (Beaumont) County, Newton County is not. Good example of how people think differently. You place the "center" on Jefferson, I put it on Orange.

District to charge fee to athletes
Hotrodg replied to KFDM COOP's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
Unfortunate. Also likely to be seen elsewhere more and more. -
I did not. I think of Chambers (BH, Dayton, etc) as Houston. I included Dayton in my SETX top 10 lists because it looked like the consensus was to include them. It is just interesting to me how people have different thoughts. Some folks seem to define the region by UIL district alignments, some by geography, and some by who knows what.

Top 10 SE Texas Teams For 08..Rank Them!!
Hotrodg replied to KFDM COOP's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
I made a new thread for "setx borders" so this one could get back to top 10 lists... -
This came up a few times last season, and a couple times again lately. I thought it might be a fun discussion to see what everyone's thoughts are. This is not a right/wrong thing, nor an attempt to tell anyone where they do or do not belong. It is intended to be just interesting discussion. So..what are the geographic borders for what YOU consider "Southeast Texas". For me it is defined by the 6 counties of Orange, Jefferson, Hardin, Tyler, Jasper, and Newton. AKA.."the part of Texas where you can climb a pine tree and smell gumbo". edit: removed Liberty
