If you do not go for the win what kind of a message are you sending your team? "We can't win anyways, so we are going to go out here and take the mud stomping and start working next week." Or do you bow your neck, dig in and give them everything you have? Leave it on the field, win or loose your team will be better for it... They then have a measuring stick in which to build off of. Hopefully you win or loose a close one... either way you go in with a never say die attitude and you come out and punch NS in the mouth and you keep hitting them until they don't want anymore... WB has the talent... If they come out and hit on all cylinders they should stay with NS... On Any Given Day ... you know the rest.. 8) ;D

The Fan base will be the key to Lamar Football being successful. Even if local talent is on the team, if they aren't supported they will stop signing here and start going elsewhere... I for one will try to get season Tickets in the first year and hold on until my twins graduate in case they go there.... Is this the kind of message Cardenas wants to send to Lamar? I know I am fixin to get roasted on blowing it out of proportion but, Think about the school and coach fixing to give him a walk and then all of the sudden the young man is giving himself a black eye. Trust me I have seen first hand what this young man and Mr Bellows can do. They are very good athletes I just would like to know if you fully thought this out before making this decision... remember there are consequences for all actions.... I do not think that a 1 game suspension is to harsh... I would of been ok with a half game also.. But coach Nuemann thought it was a good Idea to bench him the entire game. I can not fault him for standing his ground and not giving in just because it was on of his star players... if this was a 3rd string player we would of never heard about it and no one would of said a thing.... but because he is a starter... already verbally commited to Lamar and is headed to the 4A Play-offs we now have discussion. Hats of to you Mr. Nuemann. I hope you understand what is going on here Mr. Cardenas and do not take this lightly. It will help you down the road, Learn your lesson take your lumps and be a better man for it.

Nice excerpt TVC. I did not vote.. There are a lot of factors that go in on a season... yeah some good points were listed but unless you are at practice and are involved in each young man's life you really can not say for certain what the overall problem is. I believe if you walk out on the field and give 100% 100% of the time you can not fail. Giving 105%, 110% 150% doesn't do any good if your only giving it every other play... but 100% all the time you can hold your head up at the end of the day and be proud of what you have done... win or lose... Just my opinion

Rebel, I would like for you to make it to a Vidor Homecoming 1 year. I am taking nothing away from Evadale. But I would have to say our Lights Out Homecoming is 2nd to none. Like yours we shut down 105 in the middle of Vidor. This year there were 96 Floats that were in the parade. I am sure your 50th will be a sight to see but I wouldn't go as far as to say the best in the land. This is of course my own biased opinion ;D Good Luck to you this weekend. I haven't seen a WB game since they used to play Vidor. But from what I read week in and week out about them on this site and the paper, they seem to play up or down to the competition... if they are playing a tough team they tighten up and get after it... they play a weak team the loosen up get the "we got this attitude" and barely slip by or get some trash scoring at the end of the game...... I believe that "Da Brook" will come out fired up and ready to smash "Da Sho" in Da Mouth and will take them to the woodshed... again I am only going off what I have read about them, and I am pretty sure I will get trashed bashed and kicked for even posting this .... but this is my opinion. I know Coach Stump will have these boys in high gear from the first snap... always does in big games..... GOOD LUCK BROOK time for the Brook to flood the "Da Sho" :-D

My "Tea Cup" and I will be watching from the bleachers. I was very proud of my team they fought the whole way and never gave up even when the game was out of reach. They have heart and Pirate Pride. It's even a bit of a statistic lover's paradise because the teams rank 1-2 in district total offense. Kirby Bellow, Jude Vidrine, Asa Cardenas, Ryan Brady, Wareall Grogan and blockers are fashioning a Bulldogs' average of 364.3 yards a game. Vidor's right behind at 345.4 but far ahead of anyone in rushing offense with 2,173 yards in seven outings. Vidor also looks worlds better on defensive numbers, permitting 243.3 yards a night (2nd in the league) to Nederland's much more generous 334.5-yard average (7th). Nederland provides a welcome equalizer with plus 3 in turnovers to Vidor's minus 1. Translation: neither represents a safe bet... it could go either way. "They feature a power running game," Bulldogs boss Larry Neumann said. "And we haven't done a very job of trying to defend that style of attack in the last two weeks." While Neumann frets in his office about containing Vidor's explosives, 10th-year Pirates director Jeff Mathews sounds a lot like Neumann. Vidor has fine defensive numbers to be sure. Bulldogs' offensive coordinator Monte Barrow simply offers Pirates' defensive whiz George Eskue a whole bunch more to defend than most district attacks. Nederland's ability to do so much definitely keeps Vidor from feeling very confident. "The thing that scares me is every team we have played has an offense that does one thing well," Mathews said.
