1. p.s. i just pulled out my program... What is Dayton Smoking? We do return 11 Starters even according to the program.
 2. Can we get this back on topic. Please and Thank you.
 3.
Man, nothing against the coaches, but that's a weak final 5 for a 5A school.  Is it really that bad of a place to coach? So Flannigan is the only head coach to have head coaching experience at 4A or above?  He just left a bad campus with obvious racial tensions on the board. Not to mention people in the area had to have seen his Cougars play Vidor using a pass defense.  Haynes has won a lot of games, but 2A to 5A?????  Really!
The racial tensions where bogus. Flannigan is not a give you a hundred chances guy he gives u one chance u mess up you have to earn your way back onto the team. Nothing Racist about the man.
 4. Also Crosby Cody Stevens to Tarleton State.
 5.
Recruiting Coach was Austin Flynn.  QB @ Deer Park then 4 year starter @ Iowa State QB/WR.  Then coached DC @ South Houston for 2 seasons.  Half of Grand View roster is from SE Tx.
Yep i believe they pulled 4/5 players from Crosby in 2008.
 6. Clayton Callicut, DL, Crosby, Honorable Mention Gosh did he deserve that! Glad someone got it right.
 7.
Dayton will make the playoffs for sure. We are returning 14 starters and had alot of young talent. Im on the fence with crosby I know they return the twins but not much else. I think they have like 5 starters coming back. Bh lost pretty much everything. I think 5 of the seniors on their team had been on varsity since they were freshman. Its hard to replace kids like that. I dont know much about the other teams in our district but would think humble will field a good team along with kw park and summer creek.
I believe Crosby has 5 Starters on Offense returning, Depending on what you call a Starter. Crosby used 6 offensive linemen last year (1 was consistently injured) we return 3 Twins 2 LB's, 2 DL's 1 Safety, 1 Corner. so that's 11 Starters Returning. Including your best 2 players and a very nifty little center. =)
 8. Flanigan did apply for the job. But it doesn't look like he's gonna get it.
 9.
Ok after some quick research and throwing in what little logic I have  ;D Here is how we placed last year( not sure about 18-4A since it looks like a thre way tie). first number is overall second one is in district 19-4A 1st BH 9-2 & 6-1 2nd Crosby 6-5 & 5-2 3rd Dayton 9-4 & 5-2 6th King 4-6 & 2-5 18-4A 1st Summer Creek 9-2 & 6-1 2nd KW Park 8-3 & 6-1 5th Humble 4-6 & 3-4 6th NC Porter 3-7 & 1-6 7th New Caney 2-8 & 1-6 Of course not really knowing what is returning here is my best guess for next year. 1st Crosby 2nd Summer Creek 3rd Barbers Hill 4th Dayton 5th KW Park 6th Humble 7th King 8th NC Porter 9th New Caney
Buddy there are 9 teams that = 8 district games not 7. Also the Cougars are gonna be scary this year. TONS OF TALENT. That very good JV squad full of Sophs are all on Varsity. The O-line will be much improved and according to sources. Crosby might play some players both ways... what a new thing. Also 2 Good looking receivers out there. Word is 2 coaches are coming with the new coach. a D Coordinator and a Receivers coach. (I think it's the brother in law of the coach.) Twins are a year older a year stronger, a year quicker. You'll be amazed. Regardless i think we can call this murders row. looks like the whole 24-4a splitting up left a void for a super district. This might very well be the most competitive district in the Area. Although Humble is coming off a pretty bad season. No clue how summer creek is. I'd go in no order Crosby Dayton Kingwood Bh/Humble/Summer Creek Not dishing BH, i just don't think they will have the athletes to play in this district.
 10.

King has some athletes but I don't think the administration has any kind of grip on that school over there.  The school is pretty rough. It has such a strange mix of kids. It is about 60% Hispanic and 25% African American, and the few whites that are left are from the "Backwoods of Sheldon" and many would fit in nicely in a remake of Deliverance.  King is a wealthy district though because of Lyondell (which is like 2 miles from Channelview HS) but still in the eastern corner of Sheldon ISD, so this will be a nice paying job and they have a separate A.D. I don't know of any other 4A schools with only 1 HS in the school district that wastes their money on a stand-alone A.D.
Not sure i am understanding that comment.. But until Jerry Stewart retired from Head Football Coach last year, He was AD and Head Football Coach. And we only have one high school in the district.
My understanding was that it was a 1 year deal and at a very low cost to the district.
He's talking about king. and i believe they still have an AD but no HC.
 11. Honestly i think a Baytown to Humble district would be a ton of fun but that's just me. KP, Crosby, Dayton, (Humble/Atascocita 5a?), Lee, BH... now that would be a hell of a district. the 4 teams out of that would be battle tested.
 12. No Offense to Sterling but if i as a parent had the opportunity to send my kid to BH instead of Lee i would do so in a heart beat.
 13. If anyone can remember that far back... the Crosby v. PNG game was an absolute thriller this year, and the Dayton Crosby game was decided literally on the last play.
 14. yeah it doesn't make much sense to put porter and new caney in a district with Crosby and BH and send Dayton to the north. I suspect 19-4a will stay pretty close to how it is now, just minus a team.
 15.
so more talented. what makes them more talented???? 40 times??? height???? shuttle run???? good football players win football games. blocking, tackling, prepared, clutch play. vidor had good football players and a good football team. why shouldn't they win. the big plays against montgomery and the play of the qb/lb were phenomenal the next week. why when vidor wins does it have to be a slap in the face of who they beat. more talented....talented at what????
Bud Crosby fans didn't make excuses we got beat because our team made mistakes and Vidor didn't . The closest thing to an excuse given was the fact that one of our 2 beast on our defense hurt himself and got knocked out of the game in the 2nd quarter. When vidor wins vidor fans will try to rub it in for hours. Dayton was probably more talented than Barbers Hill this year but issues and BH's option offense won vs Dayton Due to matchups. Honestly Vidor is a matchup problem for almost any team without a top notch defense... ala Angleton. It's like this is 19-4a would have gotten the matchups to suit them best it probably would have been PNG v Dayton, BH V Vidor (LB core was very good), Crosby v. Ozen (Very similar teams.) and GCM v Nederland (Mainly because nederland had a great defense vs a pretty good power run game.) However the matchup of Vidor vs Crosby is in favor of vidor because they simply didn't make a single mistake all game, and Crosby is an opportunistic team. I like how 40 times tend to matter to you guys, but honestly the thing that sets Austin Walker apart from other backs is his extreme quickness and his ability to cut back. Some of the better LB's in the region (BH) couldn't touch him let alone tackle him. Dayton had a very tough time with him as well. Vidor played well but we got down and just started throwing the ball so much it wasn't our offense anymore.
 16.
Cougtalk when and where is meet the coach?
The board outside the school said at 7:00pm in the CHS Commons.
 17. Meet the coach night on Thursday.. I'll be there. =0
 18.

Austin Walter should've been the offensive MVP. Hands down most productive offensive player on the district's best offense, with the district's best numbers.
I agree that it should have been Austin or Tyler. Tyler has a better average yard per carry that Austin did and I garuntee thatTyler didn't have as many long break away runs as Austin did. Tyler is my vote for MVP. Denny does a great job running the offense at BH, but his numbers do not warrent the MVP IMO.
So Austin gets penalized for being the every down back? Sorry bud i just think this says it all. Austin Walter - Crosby Rush: 207 att, 1359 yds, 16 TDs, 6.57 avg Recv: 20 catches, 184 yds, 2 TDs 1st Place Rushing 1st Place Points Scored (110) 1st Place All-Purpose Yards (1543) See those 1's that means hes better than anyone else in district. As for the discussion of offensive MVP, if the statement "most important offensive player for his team" where the case then Merka would have won that award all 3 years he played. It's simply fallacious to say that. Austin was the most explosive and exceptional offensive player in the District period. Why would you penalize him because his brother is good too? that makes no sense.
Wrong again ;D It just means that he got the ball more times, not that he was better! The yards per carry says more than the total yards IMO.
It also means he had to carry more of the load, and that he still played effectively for 4 quarters. If the cougars would have had another back to take some of the 3 and 1 runs, he probably would have had a much higher yard per carry average. He didn't have a FB to take the 1 yard run on 3rd and 1, he ran it for 1 yard. Also the statement makes little to no sense when you compare the # of points he had. Or the fact that getting a good ypc on 10 rushes a game when people are geared to stop ur qb, is much easier than getting a good ypc when your the guys everyone in the district is trying to stop. Simply your ypc crutch is the only argument you can make, and when also comparing the # td's, the dual threat nature of Austin, and the fact that he is 1) a better back, and 2) more explosive than any player on the BH squad. Stop being a homer and recognize the immense talent that is Austin Walter.
 19.
;D
I think liltex has been the most productive poster. The rest just make ad hoc assumptions, liltex gives you a reason he believes what he believes.
 20.
can't someone file an open records request to see who applied?
You could but those normally take 14-28 days to process, and we would know who the coach is by then. Also i'm not sure if you can do that for applications.
 21. [Hidden Content] all i found on starks
 22. Crosby will not make a decision until Corsicana gets knocked out of the playoffs. Wasn't that obvious?
