1.
The Crosby superintendent is a football guy. He won a national championship at the school he played, so I'm guessing it'll be a coach from where came from. But we see........
See i was wondering if this was just another way to bring his network in there.
 2. Guys Flanigan was basically givern the option of staying as a non-head coach or leaving he choose to leave. No firing was placed in the mix. Regardless telling ur AD we don't want you to be the head coach is as close to firing as possible. But officially it was a resignation.
 3.
I do not wish to take away from your post are the point are very valid.  However, I, too, wonder that if the matchups had favored 19-4A and the bi-district play showed 19-4A to be 3-1 if this thread would have ever been started.
Honestly WOS, prolly not but that's just because the side of the fence i'm on. However if it would have been Nederland/PNG had both lost i guarantee you you'd see similar stuff, not this because i have a point.  FYI I have nothing but respect for Vidor, they are the best defense Crosby has played this year (Minus Dawson), and they executed perfectly all night. I said that Crosby' weakness was a big pounding offense, and BH's was speed. Vidor's biggest weakness would be a large front 7, because that would be able to stop them (Nederland.) Bh can't handle speed at all it looks like hints they lose. It's whatever but i'm just pointing out that the matchups do matter more than the districts. Vidor is a better team than Crosby Ozen is a better team than BH however that doesn't mean PNG/Nederland are better teams than either. BH beat nederland who went undefeated in district? does that mean they're better than 20-4a? Absolutely not.
 4. The biggest problem is we have 2 communities represented, and there is relatively even representation between those two regions, and they have distinctively different views on things like athletic entitlement.
 5.
I understand the seemingly sudden resignation of Coach Flannigan may shock some. What's even more shocking is the ineptitude with which he and his staff meander through the season and try to mitigate ridiculous losses with a playoff run that lasts a couple of weeks. There's no hidden story or failure to play someone's child behind his dismissal. It's the 33-32 loss to baytown lee after being up 10 points late in the fourth, the continous shortcomings with heated rival dayton who often has less talent but superior coaching, and the most stomach churning which is losing to vidor who runs a pop warner offense with players who wouldn't even start at crosby. I think what sums it up is the 49-7 2009 home playoff loss to dayton in which the post-game hand shake heard jerry stewart tell kevin flannigan, "If I had your team I would win it all." You have to remember, Haynes did more with less. It's about winning over here, and not just winning district games. There should be a conserted effort to win them all, and undoubtedly the school board feels the same way most of us do. Overall flannigan is a good person and decent leader of young men. . . . He's just not the coach for crosby.
I have no clue who you are but this was a 100% political decision with the exact words of the board member being something like "he couldn't connect with Barrett" Vidor fans have nothing on my hatred for our school board. Hopefully we get a Sumlin type, but i doubt it. If the Walter twins leave i bet its further west not east. Kingwood, or Woodlands would be my guess, hopefully these kids stay because we love to watch them here in Crosby. Crosby School Board is the largest hindrance to Crosby Athletics.
 6. didn't they give up 0 points? how are you overrated if you give up 0 points.
 7.

Don't feel bad Brenham fan its a 17-4A thing. Any outsider input seems to upset the natives. I think the most - karma might be a good thing cause you probably hit on something +.
No wonder mine has gone up so high.  It's gone up almost 30 in 3 weeks.
Do you have a brenham site, so I can draw negativity there?
No, sorry we sure don't.  That's why I'm here.  I enjoy sports, and I find this site very interesting/entertaining.  Sorry if you don't care for my post, but I'm always going to say how I feel.  This is friendly smack, mixed with sports....  I love it!
Yeah but your normally right. Brenham should have 0 problem with Ozen, you guys have the athletes to keep up with them, no question.
 8. This has been bothering me. Ozen beating BH doesn't make your district better than anyone elses. Ozen is a horrible match-up for BH because BH lacks speed at the corner and safety position. They have an ok d line, very good line backers and a poor secondary. BH lined up and beat nederland, but BH's weakness is speed. Vidor beat Crosby because they used a size and power running game to pound the rock. The cougars would have much rather played Nederland, PNG, Ozen because those teams don't line the ball up and smash you over the head. However BH is far better equipped to handle a team like Vidor because they play a similar style of football. BH will lose to very fast teams as their 2 losses show. (Crosby, Ozen) Probably the fastest 2 teams in our two districts. this also explains why PNG plays well vs BH. 2 reasons 1. They play Vidor every season so they see that offense. 2. They are actually more atheltic than BH and can throw the ball effectively against them. That is all. 3-1 for 20-4a and in all 3 wins your teams the match-up favored that team.
 9. so i heard bh lost, and Dayton won... peaking at the right time i guess =p.
 10.
.
To be fair about the attendance, there was about 8,000 on the home side (Vidor) and about 1500 on the visitor side (Crosby).
Good post AAW... I figured the 200 comment was a gross underestimation. I realize that Crosby ISD takes in a lot of surrounding areas, but has anyone bothered to take a look at the disparity in population between Crosby proper and Vidor?  Vidor is much larger and I'm sure take in some surrounding areas as well. But, this is a big factor for Crosby's crowd size. We know all the reasons Vidor had a big crowd, but I'm not sure throwing Crosby under the bus is necessary, at least not without looking at the facts.
+1
 11.

What happened to the brothers running all over vidor last night? Just sayin
i think they did pretty well.... got their yards for sure. Can't beat a TEAM with yards though. gotta stop em and put some in the end zone. sounds like crosby lacked the discipline to keep it close.
we ran all over vidor, but then decided to throw the ball =/, i was just really dumbfounded. Defense is what lets us down today not the offense, well the penalties didn't help either. but anyways see you next season i'm off to see the wizard
 12.

We had well over 200 fans that's a huge stadium, but it wasn't the normal showing mainly because a huge core of our fans work shift work, and can't go watch a football game on a Thursday night, unless they have a kid.
Shift Work?? Yeah right and nobody from this area works shift! Did you not notice the chemical plant and refinery that were right behind you last night...They were still running! Didn't shut'em down for the football game.  ;D
Exactly! I have begged, borrowed, traded shifts, burned vacation over the years to make PNG games. What a lame excuse! Vidor fans have always supported their team win or lose. Over the years I always remember them showing up to support their school.
So how many times have you had to take 2 days off to make it work? I know 3 people who missed the game because it was THURSDAY, this was a friday game everyone would be their, just saying its very difficult to judge people when you have a 5 minute drive.
 13.
It wasn't #11 that took off his pads and stormed of the field. #11 just sat on the bench and didn't shake hands with Vidor. When the Crosby coaches were talking to the team he sat on the ground way behind the team and pouted. I wouldn't normally mention anything like this but Crosby coaches better fix this type of attitude if they want to be successful in the future. Mathews would have lit that kid up if he were wearing Black and gold.
He's a senior. he's gone after this year. But your right, first time hes acted this way all year.
 14.
you guys have d1 talent where as vidor probably does not. Call it like you want. They were out COACHED, out played, out everything, not to mention the stupid personal fouls which should have resulted in an ejection. Don't have a dog in this fight, I just call them like I see them...Keeping it real...Word...Out
That QB is a d1 talent, hes a beast.
 15.
Great atmosphere at the game with all the area support, Vidor side was full.  (Would like to know the attendance total).  The twins are the real deal and are elusive and super hard to tackle.  The Cougars have a very explosive big play offense, but seem to let emotions get the best of them sometime, several personal foul/roughing penalties throughout the game. I can see where they will be a force in 19-4A for the next couple of years.
no 11 had something wrong with his head it looked like.
 16.
every one plays with injuries...vidors starting tailback was out...poor excuse...while the twins got their yards crosby was still held to only 20 points...Bottom line got your arse kicked...I admit when it happens to my team maybe you should to.
Tupac, they won the game i'm not questioning that but i will defend my coaching staff. It's like if you plan to throw the ball and Your QB goes out, we planned to slam the QB/FB with 46/47 and then force the half back to beat us, 46 goes down that gameplan gets shifted to a less talented player and the FB kills us all game period. Reason we lost? perhaps not, that would probably be a muffed kickoff down by 8 that lead to a vidor score. Vidors starting Tailback? how the hell do you determine who the starting back for Vidor is? they have 3 of them, The QB, FB, RB the QB and FB are just as important if not more. FYI they played with there first string running back.
 17.

Was told tonight that no matter who wins both coaches have agreed to play Vidor @ Galena Park Next Friday....
Montgomery will probably win by 4 TD's or more.  Them, Dawson & Angleton are probably the best D1 teams in the region.  Vidor will be in for a real test.  If you can get by the Bears, y'all have a chance at beating anybody in the region.
Disagree. I think Angleton and Dawson are a couple of steps better than Montgomery, but that's my opinion.
 18.
OK, last post for the night. However, I'm really enjoying this....a very long time coming. 1. Jeff Mathews and the Vidor coaching staff. Great game plan and those kids were prepared to play that game. Controlled the clock and controlled the game. Kept the twins on the sideline. Anybody attempting to hire any of our coaching staff will be met with a volley from our deer rifles (there's one in every pickup). 2. Our Offensive Line. We only gave up like 30+ lbs. per man but our execution was flawless. They have been the unsung heroes of this season. Remind me of PNG from the 70s. 3. Crosby's defensive coordinator. ??? 4. Heart. We flat out played them. They didn't lose the game, we won it. We CREATED the turnovers and frustrated the heck out of their offense. Blitzing that quarterback was the right call. Our defense has stepped up all season and refused to quit. There is no doubt those Walter kids can flat out play but our kids wanted this way more. 5. Finally and most importantly, the fans of Southeast Texas. There was 6000+ (?) on our side and it was crazy!!! In my wildest dreams I would have never expected this. The Crosby side may have had 200 max. I believe there were more Dayton fans there than Cougars. I'm sorry, but this is a playoff game and it's less than an hour's drive from here, I do it all the time. I really felt sorry for their kids. No one will be able to explain to me how you can't support your team especially if you have a child on the field. I know my Pirates felt the electricity in the air and it motivated them to play their best. Thank you again SE Texas.
I agree with you doesn't seem that biased at all. 1-3. Honestly the loss of 47 destroyed the gameplan and they didn't adjust at half time. We had well over 200 fans that's a huge stadium, but it wasn't the normal showing mainly because a huge core of our fans work shift work, and can't go watch a football game on a Thursday night, unless they have a kid. Also don't kid yourself you had a ton of 19-4a on your side as well, tons of blue on your side of the crowd, plenty of purple. And nederland in black. It's easy to say "why didn't you travel?" but it was a Thursday night at 7:30 with an hour car trip home, i highly doubt Vidor would have had a third of the crowd they did if we would have played this game in Deerpark
 19.
Guess BH offense is not that good as we thought lol
No we lost a corner stone to our defense tonight on the 3rd drive. 47 was playing really well until he got injured and from that point on the Vidor offense ran the ball effectively. Anyone who says they weren't impressed by the twins tonight is a lier that torched that defense. We made mistakes that lost us this game, and a tough loss of a very good linebacker means a vidor win, congrats. 46 can't do everything, need his buddy 47 to help him out. But honestly our defense was just so bad tonight our offense couldn't bell them out. GL vs your opponent Vidor.
 20.
This thread has me wanting 7:00 to hurry up and get here..good luck to both teams tonight!
7:30 = game time.

Should be a good!
Stuck here in Virginia till tomorrow, so many thanks for the effort guys.  Looking forward to the broadcast and especially can't wait till your partner says, WOW.......20-4A is in trouble if this is 19-4A's their 3rd place team.  ;D ;D
Good one, Jody! ;D But I don't anticipate that coming up in conversation. ;)
Well you'll have to have something to talk about in the 4th quarter. =p/
 22.
Those 5 listed will win.  How in the world did Brenham make that list?
by losing to kp last year.
 23. I believe we busted out the big boy claws last week. Time to get Vidor then its revenge time against montgomery!
