1. Hasn't been officially decided obviously. But got my money on Aston Walter (Sophomore Next Year).
 2.
so to be fair, Harrea not playing in the second half of almost all the district games have any bearing on his stats being lower then Merka?
Simply doesn't matter when factoring who the best PLAYER at the QB position is this is a no brainer Merka by a mile.
 3.

What numbers are you talking about. merka threw for more yards a ran for like 1000 yards.
Name              Comp Att   Pct     Yds   TD  INT Dominic Merka  143    306  46.73   2101 12  10    Name              Comp  Att   Pct     Yds   TD  INT Andres Herrera  125   188   66.49  1642  16  5 how about completion percentage, TDs and INTs QB is less about running and more about throwing. I've stated numerous times.... merka has a case for MVP...maybe even Utility/Ath. Not QB. I know his receivers weren't good, but that's part of it.
If your a PASSING QB and not a true Spread QB Like AH then you need that kind of completion percentage and about 500/600 more yards than Merka to win that award in my opinion, just because completion percentage has so much to do with dropped passes. I guarantee you, you factor out drops and Merka's completion percentage is in the high 50's and he still has more passing yards. But to be fair when factoring in QB's you have to take all thier stats. add 147 rushing attempts for 995 yards and 12 TD's and your left with Merka has 3096 total yards 24 total TD's and 10 PICS Herrea has Less than 2000 total yards and 14 td's and 5 PICS Look at those lines and tell me 1st string all district QB let alone Offensive MVP should be MERKA.

Bronco stadium but Stewart Field. I got a thousand to put down for a bronze statue or bust of Coach Stewart.
x2
Largest waste of Bronze  in Human history.
maybe we could bronze a pair of merka's cleats and you could put those on your mantel, next to a picture of the 42-3 SCOREBOARD
The difference is I could get an Autograph if i wanted one. Merka was a little brother of one of my good friends my defense of him is because he's a great kid as much as he's a great athlete. I don't want a bronze anything of Merka. The only things that get bronzed shape the world, not a small podunk community like Dayton.

 6. I will point out thier are certian district in Texas that Dayton would be the 3rd or 4th team this year... 24-4a, Brenham/Montgomery district (granted i think they'd be third because everyone else blows), the Brownwood district, thiers others aswell just pointing out closer ones.
 7. To be fair according to the official he wasn't flagged for the jester but for keeping the ball, rules are rules.
 8.
Crosby's run is done for awhile have mercy ;D
sure is we have 0 talent or coaching at crosby. absolutely no stars on the rise, we were in last in every district contest i mean gosh dayton decided to play their 2nd team freshman against our.... because they weren;t scared of locking horns with our first team, or anything.
 9.

What the haitees?Merka on the 2nd team going to TCU-Justin Boothe OL going to Rice ??? ??? ::)
Even Merka's Rivals page does not list him as a QB. I think he will play at TCU, but probably at TE. Herrera lead his team 3 rounds deep, again. Do not know the Boothe kid.
He was recruited AS A QB and was assured he'd get a chance at the position come summer.
 10. Off Player of the Year-n break Jakari Delasober, Dayton? Thats a joke kid didn't even a 1000 yards of offense it's official theirs some jealousy in this district. For 2 years the best player on the field has been Merka period, and 2 years he hasn't go the recognition he deserves, hay but it's ok when he's killing the Big East on Saturday's all will be forgiven.
 11.
No offense takin Cougtalk, just my opinion, proud of the area and those who have had success.
Sure ya'll had success that warranting National attention is probably not true. Iunno just giving a different prospective not trying to make anyone mad.
 12.
Looks like yall need a non-bias leavel-headed person to settle this dispute.   Merka is the MVP of 19-4A.  Crosby absolutely sucks without him. Darian was probbaly the best defensive lineman, however the defensive ends at Galena Park deserves to be mentioned. As for Dayton's #1, yeah right.  He is an OK player, but come on, he is not even close to being as valuable as Merka to his team in either rushing or passing.  NOT EVEN CLOSE!!!!!!     Passing Stats Andrew Vargas Galena Park 158  337  46.88  2,553  23  20   Dominic Merka Crosby 143  306  46.73  2,101  12  10  That's a butt kicking against Dayton! They were the benefitiary of BH's first game under a new offense and defense. 2. They proved all year long any team with speed was better than them. 3. They lost every game they played again good teams and should have lost to Livingston. 4. Finally, they will not win district next year. 5. They are not smart enough to come up with anything but their 54 reason reply. 6.  OH, and the dentist in Dayton make a fortune.  ;D     Wake up, you have been SMOKED by the SMOKIN-BABY and MERKA!   ;D
You missed the fact that Merka's numbers are less because he played Daytons D... how many yards does Jakari get without that excellent blocking from his Wides? To be Fair Jakari can't win MVP because he didn't play enough games, and yard wise didn't do too well. Good back he'll prolly win it next year but stat comparison not even close Merka by a Mile. Those who argue Herrea because of his Completion Percentage etc. Recognize that's because he had 3 very good receivers who turn 2 yard passes into 16 yard passes etc. Also what did he do passing wise vs Crosby? nothing because Crosby closed the short routes and forced any pass over the top.
 13.
Cougtalk, don't you think those areas you named have quite few more in way of population then the area I am talking about. I guess I should have pointed that out in my original post, I'll stand by the fact that based on the POPULATION of our area we have had a remarkable amount of talent come from here in a many different talents.
Really whats the population of Beaumont? Port Neches? Groves? Nederland? Vidor? Orange? Dayton? Liberty? Port Arthur? and all the other small communities in between. if your counting Orange to newton to dayton to PA thats alot of people buddy. The Beaumont port Arthur area has 379,918 people according to census projections. I'm sure if you take any group of 379k people you'll find several good athletes and professionals. I'd Argue the area between Baton Rouge and Lake Charles has just as many people. just to name a few (Terry Bradshaw, Karl Malone, Andy Pettite, Glen Dorsey, Dwayne Bowe, Glen Davis, Randy Jackson, etc.) And thats just the Baton Rouge area according to what i've found baton rouges parish has 428,360 people comparable to PA-Beaumont area. This isn't saying the area is talented i'd just argue that its not "special" by any stretch of the imagination. No offense.

No, I did not think so. We still whipped your you know what.
Please he's promoting a business. And you still got drumbed by la Marque no ones questioning how bad the cougs played this year.

 16.
At my last count we have around 87 former and current NFL players, 6 coaches and trainers and not to mention the amount of MLB, NBA, PGA/LPGA players along with numerous entertainers. When I use the term Golden Triangle I choose to include towns like Silsbee, Buna, Dayton etc. because I fill we all have the same passion and pride in our lives. I have sent letters to all the major networks including ESPN and have gotten a wide range of responses but no interest. I travel the country on buisness and no where I have ever been has a larger amount of talent from such a small square mile area. How do we go about getting some major network do a special and the players, coaches, entertainers and people that make our area so special. We are a group of people that work hard, play hard and pull together under trying times (Hurricanes etc.) and support each other when the time arrises. Any ideas?
Um? lets see. Southern Florida? LA california, Oakland California, Redlands California, Dallas/Fort worth, Katy, 24-4a. All have same accomplishments if not more in realitively the same land mass area your talking about. seriously pick any 80 square miles and you'll find a ton of talent.
Apperently Mont is the only one who can take care of buisness... and barely.
 18.
Crosby lost to BH 33-32 in 9th grade football. One of the twins didn't play.
Lol fair enough. So 1 point? sucks.
 19. EC i don't necessarily agree who else in Texas has their own sports network besides Texas? FSN, ESPN, and Others have shown 0 want to broadcast highschool games. This can only help get kids scholarships,  im for it. Also this quote makes it make more sense. ""We're the only one left," Breithaupt said of the UIL, which was founded in 1909 and, under state law, is part of UT-Austin."
