  1. He was a fast player for sure but that run back was like 20% speed 80% excellent seal blocks and special teams design.
  2. Wasn't his speed it was a great play and great blocking. No clue why yall are trying to pretend it was "just speed"
  3. I think only Cougar14.2 believes that. We are hopeful this offense will be as explosive and Cyrin Miles looks like he can be a special QB but we lost our QB/RB/WR1/WR3/WR4 from last year. Kirkwood returns as the only primary starter in skill positions. Womack is another tertiary starter. We were Vanilla but we normally are in games pre-district. Looks a hell of a lot better than the start of last year that's for sure. I'll take a loss by 3 on a kick return for TD against an 8 time state champion team in 4ad2 over a 7 point loss to a 6A team in a weak 6a districts who lost to anyone with a Pulse last year. We put up 500 yards in that game and scored 3 times... that's embarrassing. This game? Meh, it got away it happens. of the 8 starters who contributed yards in last years game 1, 2 of them return.
  4. Nah, I had the curse a couple years ago with yall every time I said you'd win you lost. and don't worry yall would have been blanked by that team.
  5. You also had 5 turnovers yards mean nothing if you keep coughing up the rock.
  6. So one nugget we should mention. Did either team have a bad snap in the 2nd half? there were so many for Crosby in first half, and a couple over the heads for Carthage. I think we had the one bad snap over the QB head that lead to the first instance of cramping, but after that pretty clean snaps rest of night. glad we cleaned that up.
  7. I got you Fam. NO WAY THE EAGLES STAND A CHANCE! PAETOW GONNA BLOW THE LID OFF!
  8. Whatever makes you happy buddy. We also had a cramping QB the entire second half but we aren't using that as an excuse for not scoring. 20-14 or 20-17 offense vs offense doesn't really matter. Not like your offense was particularly spectacular.
  9. We torched our district last year but last game of season was against Nederland and they slowed the game down played solid defense and kept it close and pulled out a pretty good victory. The next week we flipped our RB/QB and the rest as they say is history.
  10. I believe we are the consensus pick for district winner but then again we didn't win district last year so...
  11. their coach said pre-game they still were gonna use 2 QBs sounded like they still needed to make a decision.
  12. nah, not sure he had one but if you find it post it please. We don't do media the same way yall do. He basically only answers like Chron questions.
  13. Nah, not really at you Hike, more at these other fellas that pretended like this was the type of team yall regularly face and not a step up in competition. It turns out Carthage is good enough and deep enough to beat a very good 5AD2 team even with some COVID strife.
  14. Well TBH we had problems with the exact same team...
  15. Our Scheme is a very good run stopping scheme. I think missing your RB probably hurt a good bit but we tend to be very very good against the run (minus slot-t offenses.) We play one on one on the outside and really push teams to throw the ball. Most games last year for Crosby were sub 50 rushing against and 250+ passing against.
  16. I do find it fascinating that Carthage fans really holding onto this "we had players missing with COVID excuse for why they WON a game. Maybe after this game those boys took a starting job because they showed a lot of heart. I think that QB won his starting job for sure. even tho he didn't "start"
  17. TBF another poster is claiming this is false so no one really knows what to believe. Also, it could be one of those "COVID chose the starter but it was a battle in camp between two guys" situation which is likely given your lone returning starter was on the field all night. It would explain the different things being told fans.
  18. Nah, Carthage's defense is just really really good. We played 3 defenses similarly as good last year. Huntsville, Aledo, and Manvel. That defense was better than Texas high's last year.
  19. No no, see you can’t say that then Carthage would have no excuse for their QB being under fire all night.
  20. Yea not the same team yet forsure. Looking forward to our growth this year. We get Manvel next week so time to get ready.
  21. Dunn and Branch were a dynamic duo last year. The team isn't there yet on offense.
  22. A strip fumble, 2 QB sack fumbles and a Pick. at least 3 you have to give the defense the credit for because it was a play that caused the fumble not just a drop on the ground. one fumble was probably the ball carrier fault on that end around.
  23. Which is why he was out for 2 minutes then back in then out then in. They kept working him out.
