I can't speak for Stafford, but the most of the folks in Diboll would second that motion! Maybe someone on I-69 will give us a game next go around. If I could make our schedule, it might look like this: Corrigan-Camden------- ( I'd love to see our old rivalry renewed) Silsbee----- (They're tough, close and I'd get to stop at the Pickett House and eat fried chicken!) Livingston---(another old rivalry) Tatum--- (We've played them at the sub-varsity level for the last two years) Nacogdoches

Ketarus Stanton of Diboll has 1565 yards to date.

Coldspring v. Shepherd predictions
Lumberjack replied to tenor_guard89's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
Shepherd's #9 is very good at running the ball . He doesn't need a lot of blocks and just sorta runs over people. He's very strong. Coldspring has a quick group of kids that just don't quit. It's speed vs brute strength, and speed usually wins. Trojans by 18 -

Top Defenses Statewide through Week 7 (updated)
Lumberjack replied to WOS87's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
I know this doesn't make a cat-spits bit of difference, but if Diboll's 2nd and 3rd stringers hadn't given up 24 to Coldspring late in the game, the Jacks would be #16 on that list. -

Splendora usually plays Diboll pretty tough, but I think the Jacks will be to much for 'em this go around. Diboll by 33 -

You're mistaking cockiness for confidence. I have watched 31 Diboll football teams play every down, and this is by far (imo) the best team we have ever fielded. We play the Bulldogs in Crockett this year, and if you know the recent history of this game, then you know Diboll folks call the 'Doghouse "Lumberjack Stadium- West" ('course the 'Dogs have the same claim to the "Sawmill" but we're not playing in Diboll this time around. As for Carthage, they are over rated (as usual). Last year in 20-AAA, Diboll beat Rusk, Rusk beat Crockett and Crockett beat Diboll. None of those were beaten by Carthage and yet, Carthage is in nearly everyone's top 10 at the start of the season and they didn't even make the playoffs. Why? ??? -

In most of our games this year, we've only needed about a quarter to get our business done. Clock schmock. ;D -

Coldspring did score often, but it was in the second half against Diboll's 2nd string D. After the Jacks failed to convert on 3rd down, Kyle Prescott got off a 49yd punt that had the Trojans working from their own endzone with under a minute to go. C'spring tried to run their "Green Bay Sweep" three times (and it had worked well against or 2nd stringers) but the 1st stringers had no problem stopping them. The Trojans tried a flea-flicker (flea-flicker????????!) on 4th down, but we iced the game with a takeaway TD. -

Kirbyville has no depth? Hmmm? Well, that's OK. The Jacks play both ways anyhow, so Kville shouldn't be at to much of a disadvantage. -

My offense may not be equipped to handle shootouts, but it certainly sounds like they are doing just that. My D has kept us in the game against their powerful offense and made it a one point game with a chance to win in regulation. Sounds to me like their defense has been struggling just to keep 'em in the game. With "Big Mo" on my side.....I gotta go for 2! I also don't agree that going for 2 and not making it puts the coach in a bad light. One of Diboll's biggest wins in the mid-nineties was a one point loss to Alto. Our kids were celebrating at mid-field while the Alto kids were scratching their heads on the sidelines. It was a major turning point in our football program. * eduted cuz i caint spel -

It tells me that 7 weeks ago Diboll would have been down by a touch at half-time against state ranked Kirbyville. The Jacks are a much improved team since then. Scrims mean nothing. Coachs are asking their counterparts to run this play or that.....it's practice. The simulated game, however, is a different animal. Hopefully our paths will cross sometime down the line and we can put your assessment of the Jacks to the test. Sounds to me like "everyone" = you. -

k-villeballa, I will guarantee you, Diboll is ready for Kirbyville, or anyone else. The Jacks were down by only 6 at the "half-time" in our "simulated game" with K-ville and we lost the scrimmage 3-2 and that was six or seven weeks ago. By the time we get done plowin' our way through 20AAA, the question will be: Is Kirbyville ready for Diboll? Back on topic: Jacks will win big @ Liberty. Diboll by 40 -

Diboll has a big 'ol pit smokin' on Friday. Turkey legs, burgers, sausage on a stick and hotdogs. I'm sorry to report, however, that the popcorn (microwave) sucks! C'mon Diboll!!! Get a dang popcorn popper! Now here's the question within the question. What stadium has the best popcorn? ;D -

Man, this was a great football game! The best part was, after all the hype about Moye vs Sturns (and they did have their moments) the hero of the game (at least IMO) turned out to be Alex Castillo. Although it wasn't a game winner, Alex booted a 43yd FG that turned out to be the difference in the game. Without that kick, we would have went to OT. It could have easily turned out to be like the Jax/Kilgore game. I love it when a football game is actually won with...... a foot!

Teams You Would Want To Schedule?
Lumberjack replied to KFDM COOP's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
I'd like to see Diboll renew their rivalry with Corrigan on a yearly basis. I don't think we've played them in almost 15 years. It's one of the oldest rivalries in the state. I would like to see us schedule a couple of 4A teams, Livingston comes to mind or maybe a Triangle team. I would love to get Newton in a real game. We owe them a butt kickin' from a few years back when they were 3A! Newton vs Alto would be a good 'un. -
If there is one kid in this state ready to go it's Gilbert Moye. The Jacks are 3-1 and Gil has yet to play a down. If he is as accurate throwing on Varsity as he has been on JV, look out!!

Bad coaching... staph... the refs? C'mon guys, this sounds a lot like excuse making to me. Let's face facts, the Oilers put the ball on the ground with the lead and seconds left. They couldn't stop a team, that some here believe inferior, from scoring and they lost. WH got spanked. Get over it. Good job "Devils!
