It pretty much speaks for itself about what kind of players that Rock recruited  [/quote] Isn't that being a bit too literal ... don't you think it's possible that he was trying to motivate them by such extreme statements.  Even if you think that knight thinks his statements are true, I doubt that Coach wants these kids to make bad choices and go back under a rock.

[/quote] So, when you made your post did you expect Lamar to be tied with McNeese on top of the east at 10-5.  When Knight ends his first regular season at Lamar with it's first 20-win season in who knows how long, with essentially the same talent as last year will you be in hiding waiting for another I told you so opportunity ... hopefully so because you won't get many opportunities to bash Knight.  This guy is both a leader and a coach and both Lamar and the SETx region are blessed to have him.  Let's dream that he can help make Lamar the next Butler or Gonzaga and let's stop thinking so small!

I saw this Tiger team almost beat Galveston Ball and they had the height advantage.  Sealy is a less accomplished version of ball.  Their bigs will tire with the uptempo pace. At 20.4 and 10.3 a game Jones (4) and Verm (50) are only threat.  Sealy is prone to turnovers ... gym starting to hop withSilsbee in the house!   10 min to tip off

[/quote] Silsbee is not playing like the same team that I saw nearly beat Galveston Ball and the team that beat Westbrook.  Yeah, you're dealing with 15-16 year old boys, but that's where coaching comes into play.  Collins and Brooks ARE doing their best in place Coach T, but being in the hot seat(s) is not as easy once you're the one responsible for the decision [and not just a recommendation].   Here's a question to that point ... why didn't we spread it out with a 7-9 point lead with less than a minute left? Instead, we continued to push it up tempo with missed shots and turnovers, giving H-F at least 2-3 extra possessions in that last minute; fortunate for us they did not capitalize.  I hope there is enough time to rectify these mistakes once T gets back.   Perhaps best case scenario for the Tigers is a tie for district with H-J.  Why? That gives us an extra game with then with top seed on the line.  If we win, great then we can schedule a a tough warm up game against a solid 4A squad with a buy.  If we loose and end up 2nd seed, well then we don't have to worry about a bye, get right into playoff action, with a probable match up against Cleveland for the right to go to SHSU. Finally, Prentice IS important to this team; but as a team. They play best when they get good, crisp ball movement, movement without the ball and unselfish play.

Lazy passes, no movement without the ball ... when all you do is yell at the kids to work harder, then all they do is stand around waiting to get the ball and be the hero.  In the end, nobody plays to their full potential, because when the game is played right the sum is always better than the parts.

@ mammagotjuice ... you must be family if you think that about the coaching and not sure what game you were at if you saw someone flip the bird ... that's not the Silsbee fans I know.   This season X is going to have to be that X-factor if this team achieves its potential.  DC and P-T are sure to play every night and Gaines looks like he's quickly regaining his form.  But, X is going to have to raise his mental game and cut back on the bad fouls.  When he's in there he can be a difference maker in rebounding on the DB's and can make the put back on the OB's.  Now that he's starting, will need to solidify his minutes by not having to be sat due to FT ... again, we'll need more minutes from him night in and night out.   All need to improve FT shooting and when the opponent gets a fast break, don't foul them and let them score.  At least the Ball coach admitted after the game that they were lucky to get out with a win.  Rumors were that they might want us as their warm-up game going into playoffs.  SETXsports ... how'd you like that for a Montagne Friday-Night Matchup?!?  Hope you're working on it a;ready.
