Awesome - we can all learn from this example. This is the kind of role model behavior we all love to see. Other coaches (and us fans) should all follow suit. Thanks for sharing! -

Right now the standings are... #1 Galena Park 2-0 CE King 1-1 North Forest 1-10 and then.... Barbers Hill 0-2 Crosby 0-2 Lee 0-2 Memorial 0-2 Dayton 0-1 Who will the last team be that finally gets a "w". This week Barbers Hill plays Nederland, Crosby takes on Pearland Dawson, Lee battles Terry, Memorial takes on Manvel, and Dayton plays Angleton. All 5 teams from 19-4A could be considered as the underdogs with Dayton maybe getting the nod in a very good contest against Angleton.
According to the na-sayers, santa fe was not good when they beat BH, however they beat angleton the next week. Dayton and BH get a win this week.
Santa Fe beat Brazosport not expected to make much noise this year.

After Friday,I spy out of Control coaching staff how bout U?
FW Stangs has no clue what he is talking about. The REASON the asst. coach "went after" the refs was to ask why there was no time left on the clock because the ball was thrown out of bounds with 3 seconds left on the clock. THAT is why he went over to the ref after the game. You would think he would just leave it alone. He won the game, get over it! Geez!!!!!
Ok , ok yall brought in the specifics. If that is how you want your role models to behave. Fine. I hope the assistant coach who gets it and pulled the out of control coach away from the refs and the cops is ok, looks like he might have separated his shoulder tackling his peer. -

After watching an assistant coach for a team totally lose it and go after the refs after the game, for a team with a highly respected head coach, I agree that some of these teams have some issues. It is tough for the head coach to control folks in the situation, it has to start before that with a standard and if you do not meet that standard, you are gone. I would not renew the assistants contract if I was the head coach of the team I saw do that recently. -

Ill remember that one. 50 to 14 Dayton over Angleton
ive completely lost respect for Angelton after watching them scrimmage Lee, and seeing my prediction of a blow out (Made amongst my friends) by Friendswood. Angelton suffers from a defective defensive startagy that lends itself to believe they are so superior athletically that they can just lineup and take you on. Angleton is small, fast, and prone to mental lapses. Offensively they are a one trick pony, that will be held to minimal yardage by a good to great defense. Angleton 2010 reminds me of Cy-Ridge 08'....except smaller and more athletic across the board. three teams with good to great defenses held Russel Shepard to less then 100 yards. it really wouldn't suprise me to see Angelton's Diggs with less then 100 yards.
I share your assessment of Angleton - I do not know if it will be a blow out, but Dayton should win by 14. I also agree that it appears Dayton's D is stronger than FW. In fact if our D does not get better, we will not have a good postseason, if we make it. -

20 4-A Test Awaits 19 4-A Gridiron threesome
fwstangs replied to a topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
Interesting debate. No doubt Dayton is good and has had a good run the last several years. No doubt 20-4A has the storied history. It is also fairly clear that top to bottom 20-4a is the better district this year. I can tell you something else, none of us 4a teams want to play WOS every week. Those boys are good and feisty. FW is glad to be done with them!! Handily beat Nederland and gave FW all we could handle and more! Should be a fun year. Ps - keep on eye out for Manvel and Lamarque this year in 244a, they did not get the preseason hype that FW, Dawson and Ball got, but they may be the best two teams in our district!! -

Very very good team. Picked by Galveston county news to finish last or next to last. Not.
Hey I said they were really good after we scrimmaged them. You would have to be an idiot to pick them to finish last. They are a very fast and aggresive team.
I know you did! Others are just now figuring that out!
It's all subjective... To him, his QB made 2 bad throws and got picked off. To us, our DB'S made 2 good plays on the ball and caused them. To us, our receiver made a bad play by fumbling after a 20 yard gain. To them, they made a good defensive play by stripping our reciever. To them, their lineman missed their assignments and their QB got sacked. To us, our D-lineman were just to fast for them and got by them. It's really a retarded argument and an endless loop. You can break a football game down over and over... all that really matters is the end result because the reasons for the cause and effect of the outcome can be said for both sides.
I agree with your points, but answer me this - YOU broke down the film of the game?
Yes - had my teams filmed for years when I was a coach and learned how to break them down. Do the same for my sons team. Got a lot of help on how to do this from cousin who played at UT.

I'm referring to the refs and their excessive penalties, not stopping the clock, and the being outcoached and outplayed by a smaller school.
Yep. Geez, am trying to close this one out but they will not let me, keep whining about the refs, whining about us and not focusing on what people are saying. Good team effort, great job against a 4a team, bright season ahead. Yes both sides have beefs about calls, i was just trying to point some of that out - god forbid we talk about penalties, and that is always the case in close games. Each team had enough self induced mistakes to work on. Gassy - so glad you closed with a classy gassy post. There was a lot of hard hitting on both sides. Both teams walked off that field worn out and knowing they played a good team. Later.
