any coach or parent that tells their athletes/child to specialize is nuts. playing multiple sports just makes you a better athlete. true some skills do not transfer, but you cannot argue with the fact that just the mere competition makes you better. hard to get the competition edge shooting in the gym or pitching in the bullpen. furthermore, any coach that is out there telling kids that if they specialize they have a better chance of getting a scholarship is just a flat out liar and he should be fired for detrimental behavior to the program. kids need to play and parents and coaches need to encourage them to play everything.

WOW - LATE JUNE. THAT COULD LEAVE SOME PEOPLE OUT OF THE MIX FOR SURE B/C THEY WOULD NOT WANT TO LEAVE THEIR CURRENT SCHOOL IN THAT KIND OF BIND. I UNDERSTAND THEY WANT TO EXPLORE ALL OF THEIR OPTIONS, BUT IF YOU WAIT UNTIL THEN YOU CAN ALL BUT WRITE OFF THE UPCOMING SEASON. THEY ARE GOING TO BE BEHIND AS IT IS - THAT WOULD PUT THEM WAY BEHIND, ESPECIALLY IN TERMS OF HIRING.

So is he leaving or not? I have known him for a few years now and I think he is a pretty class guy. I wish him the best whatever he decides.

getting a bunt down is part of the game - especially when the game is going to be tight the entire time probably. much easier to score a guy from second then first, so get him there.

If the Woodville coach would make up his mind we would all know. As of now - Tuesday, 7:00 p.m. at Baseball USA. Woodville wants to play Monday, but has not found a site from what I understand.

maybe this site could start an offensive linemen/defensive linemen player of the week. the ones that always get nominated are the qb, backs, and rec., so lets have an o-linemen of the week topic.

Does anybody have any set dates for spring training around the area - Beaumont, PNG, Barbers Hill, etc.

I have heard of dog bites, snake bites, etc. but a new one for the list - I cannot workout b/c I have a gator bite. A what? A gator bite. Bandaged hand and all - Huge gash out of it. Classic stuff. This area is classic - deal with hurricanes, tornado, floods, and gators - Only in Southeast Texas

no doubt - run the option. give your kids angles to block bigger people, don't have to hold blocks for that long - back hits the hole quick. if you mix in some unbalanced line then you will know exactly how they will line up on defense. but if you want to spread it out and throw go ahead and be one of the everybody else is doing it gang.

as for the 3A picks - wow. how do you leave out Carthage? Giddings will be down dramatically, not even the best team in their district probably. great fuel for the debate though.

What do you think is the best off-season tool? Wrestling, tires, stations, weights - how many days?, etc. This should get some good responses and get us off the PNG and LCM threads.
