I don't think Liberty will roll over and play dead in this one. But I also think that Coach Keel and Company will have those boys focused and ready to play. I will not predict a winner (as I haven't all year). I kinda like being the underdog, the boys seam to play with a chip on their shoulder (as of late) when people doubt them.

If Huffman doesn't make it and Shepherd and Cleveland do, then Cleveland will go D1 being they will have the highest enrollment. Shepherd and Coldspring will be D2 no matter what.

Why is there even a vote for this one.

Huffman at Shepherd Game Thread/41-36 Shepherd wins!!
idk replied to WOSgrad's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
Huffman's D has been absolutely atrocious this year, wow!! Congrats to Shepherd. I guess I got some major crow coming my way , I know IDK is going to have alot to say . falconfanatic, I truely don't have a ton to say Huffman is a very good team.I you can remember I have never predicted Shepherd would be anyone all I said was after the game was over you would know you played this team. I wish your team and the QB the best of luck he is a really good one. That Sr. Class from Shepherd has really come around, the finally believe in the coaches and each other. That class has a good core group that worked their butts off, when everyone under the sun keep telling them, writing on forums and in the paper that they had no chance to even win 2 games this year the kept working hard. It is just really good to see these kids play so hard and get some wins. Don't get me wrong they and the rest of the program have a long way to go to even be talked about in the same breath as Coldspring and Huffman. But their is a new attitude in Shepherd and I am slowly starting to see the parents come around to holding their kids accountable for getting the job done and stop blamming everyone else. Coach Keel and the entire coaching staff has done a really nice job. I don't get to high or low for a games like this. There is still two games left that they need to win. Don't get me wrong I am very proud of them and glad to see them have a better year. But we have much work to do, for the future, these boys are laying the ground work for the rest of the program. I am not ok with a good year here and there. I want this program to finally be respected and talked about in a good light for a long time to come. We will get there. Ok off my soap box. llol. But dang was that a great game. Wow. -
Liberty vs Coldspring Predictions

Shepherd will send some over to support Coldspring (as if they will need it) -
Tarkington at Shepherd Game Thread/Shepherd wins 54-14!
idk replied to WOSgrad's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
Shepherd still has a ton of work to do, They are not even thinking about the playoffs. They are thinking one day at a time to improve the entire program. This years team is starting something that has been missing for many years in Shepherd. Hard work pays off and those boys deserve every win they get. It takes years of hard work and sacrafice and for the parents to support the coaches to build a good program like some have and that is what Coach Keel and company intend to do. You haven't seen the Shepherd folks get on here and predict a win or even mouth off about the play. We know there is a long way to go. But don't get me wrong we are playing every game to make it to the playoffs, will that happen most will say no but that is why you play the games. -
Oh god here we go again. lol.

I wasn't going to reply on this one but hey what the heck. Coldspring* Huffman* Cleveland Splendora Shepherd Tarkington Liberty * Huffman knows they can not only compete with Coldspring but beat them. This one is so close it is hard to call. Any slip up by either team in this one could turn the tide. But Coldspring is the team to be until someone beats them in this district.
-
Shepherd's O line is not very big but they play hard just like the rest of the team. Let's face it Shepherd needs a few years to build a better contending team. But right now these boys are having fun and seem to be getting better. Again Coldspring should win this game by a ton, being a ranked team. All I am saying is Shepherd will not lay down and if the wrong team shows up for Coldspring then it will be closer. But if the right team shows up for Coldspring then Shepherd would have to play a nearly perfect game just to stay with them. But all the pressure is on Coldspring not Shepherd it does wonders to be able to play loose and have fun. With all the talk about getting back to Dallas and all, Coldspring better hope the right team shows up. I know a bunch of good people from Coldspring but the attitude over there about Shepherd is "it is Shepherd and be beat the crap out of them every year, so this should be easy" but I would not sleep on them.
-
Texaggies07, did you watch the Sherpherd vs Diboll game? Cause if so then you watched a totally different game then I did. Shepherd ran on Diboll at will in the second half. I will agree that Coldspring better win this game by a ton or my how the haters will show up. Even if it ends up being close. We all know that Shepherd is getting better with every snap but at the same time Coldspring is still the team to beat in 22-3A. Coldspring has to many horses for Shepherd this year. But I think the score will be closer that most think it will.

Woodville at Shepherd Game Thread/Woodville wins 30-22!
idk replied to WOSgrad's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
Coach Keel and company are doing a great job with these kids. It will take some time. This year is going to be an up and down year. But one thing is for sure the boys like playing for the coaches and they play their butts off. Win or loose I think Chip will get to finish what he has started. The community is for the most part very positive and that helps. You are always going to have a few that are negative no matter what. But the ship is going in the right direction. From outside communities all you hear are the negative, but with this coaching staff and the core group of kids from 7th grade all the way up and their parents it will get turned around. -
How many 14 year old select teams are in the area?

Don't the Demo also have a couple playing for Team Extreme?? -
Woodville at Shepherd Game Thread/Woodville wins 30-22!
idk replied to WOSgrad's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
I think CMurder75 was refering to all the penalties Shepherd had not their play. Shepherd had a ton on flags thrown on them. But that was no excuse Woodville just beat us. Shepherd has to learn how to win. -
Wow did some of us miss something about the Coldspring Tight End?????????
-
HDcats0422 you are really going to say Shepherd is Always Garbage!!! I was going to stay out of this one but since you are so bold. Please tell me what Big oh 1A HD has done on the football field. HD's claim to fame is from back when football was still played with leather helmets. So get off of your high horse and realize no one in the world outside of HD cares about anything in that 1 horse town.

I went back and re-read it and now see that it was directed at the other poster.

Coldspring vs. Navasota predictions
idk replied to texaggies07's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
I will go with Coldspring in a close one 21-20 both teams are really good and it should be a good one to go and see. -
Oh Yea I pick Tarkington to win, good luck to both teams, about time Tarkington puts a few wins together. Looks like they are headed in the right direction.
-
Bushpilot, you know we are going to have to hear about how great HD was back in the ice age now that you said they were just an average team. Now get ready for the 2000 post about HD.

Eagle, I don't recall saying Shepherd would beat Woodville. All I said was they were improved over last year. I never picked a winner. I have also said that cause they are improved doesn't mean that it turns into wins this year. I do believe they program is on the right track but that it will take a few years to see the true results. Eagle I never said that Shepherd was goign to beat Woodville, what I said was at the end of the game the folks from Woodville will agree that Shepherd is an improved team from last year. I seen Shepherd play, Kountze play and Woodville play last year. So I said that I would pick Kountze to beat Woodville. Nothing in my post said Shepherd would win. As for CSN I don't recall anyone from Shepherd talking, we were having a discussion about being improved. But I do agree that until they start winning nothing they say will matter to anyone outside of Shepherd.
-
I posted on the game thread. I do believe he was the freshman QB that they brought into the game. If that is who you are talking about, he is going to be something special to watch for the next 4 years. Great speed and throws pretty well. He was the differnce in the game in the second half. His cut back speed and him being able to see the entire field was really good. Also #1 would put a lick on you if he gets the chance.
-
Eagle, I will agree with you to a point. But yes a new coach can improve you greatly over a 1-9 season. I am not talking about the talent. I am talking about having a group of players that will play their hearts out for you and work endlessly to make sure they do everything they can. Will they beat Woodville, that remains to be seen. Will Woodville say at the end of the game that this years team is improved over last years squad, I do believe they will. Don't get me wrong, saying a team is greatly improved does not always mean in the win and loss colum. Even though in todays world that is the only thing that matters. The last few years in Shepherd the boys played for just themselves, they didn't respect the coach and hated to be around him. They now have a group of coaches that motivate them not berate them. There is a big difference to a team that plays for the sake of playing and a team that plays with emotion and tons of heart and a chip on their shoulder. I have been around the block a few times so I am not getting my hopes up, I keep telling everyone it will take a few years to develope the talent. Unlike Coldspring who has all the talent in the world Shepherd has to develope theirs. So building a program into a real contender and being improved is not in the same vocabulary right now. I hope it is just as good a game as last weeks. Good Luck to both teams and hope to have an injury free one. Oh and I would still picked Kountze even though they beat us last week. They are a few play makers over there that are going to be pretty good.
-
Eagle, Really? The Coaching, are you aware that Shepherd has a new coaching staff this year? I saw the Woodville vs Shepherd game last year. Last year was last year. I do agree that predictions are opinions and I would not expect you to say Shepherd would beat Woodville. OH and if Woodville was to play Kountze I would have to take Kountze in that one.
-
It was just a scrimmage and yes Shepherd did better than New Waverly (7-2). I was trying to make a point to Eagle that Shepherd is much improved. I wouldn't judge them off of just the first game. Cause from what I seen Kountze was much improved from last year also.
-
Didn't Woodville just loose to New Waverly? I would say Shepherd is much improved over last year. If you had watched them any last year, you would say they are much improved. I think Shepherd played New Waverly in a scrimmage this year also.
