Had a chance to Ref the Royal vs CE king game. Royal took King right out of their up tempo run and gun style. You need to be able to play in some type of a half court game to beat them. or hit alot of 3s to beat them like cy ridge.

King and Crosby are just a bad match ups for Dayton. They are at their best when game is up tempo. The way to beat Crosby and king is to slow the game down. Royal beat king by slowing the game down sterling beat crosby the same way. It's not a talent issue it's just about match ups in district play.

I did the freshman and varsity. Both teams made our job easy we just let them play. # 1 came along way with his shoot. They should get 3rd in district.

[/quote] No. It restarts if the ball hits the rim. If the shot is an air ball, the 3 secs continue. Also, if the offensive player advances the ball past the defender (even if the defender still stays within range) the 5 sec count restarts as well. In the 7 games I have watched in this tourney so far, I have observed at least (6) 5 sec calls and ZERO 3 sec violations. Clearly this chapter of officials has emphasized the 5 sec rule more so than the 3 sec call. I'm not upset about it, I was just making an obvious observation. It's just the way they run their chapter. Refs in the Bmt/Ned area rarely make that call, but are more likely to call the 3 sec violation. But if they are going to make that call, they need to understand the rule completely, IMO. [/quote] The rim has no effect on the 3 sec rule.The ball just has to be shot.

Best move of the tourny was to move sam rayburn out of pool A to pool C which bump big ned to pool D. then somebody pulled out. They put B.Hill JV to pool B which bump Bump Royal from pool B to Pool C, GCM from pool C to pool D. Pool D is a very top heavy pool. With Ned Gcm and sterling in one pool.
