  1. Lee 0 0 0 0 0 1 1 = 2 WB 1 1 0 2 0 0 x = 4 WP - Fisher SV - Murphy LP - Moses WB 19-9-1 (7-6)
  2. I'd like to know where the times/radar on Johnson are from (simply from an ability to verify). The numbers I have seen do not correspond to those. No question this guy is a good player. I just don't have comparable numbers to what was posted above. Thanks.
  3. How about Taylor Hart for setting Jasper SB record?
  4. As part as of the gathering of information, please post nominations, input, etc. for the All-SETXSPORTS team. It would be most helpful if there were some stats including rather than just a some general 'he's really good', etc. If you would rather, send me a PM with nominations, input, etc. Thanks for making YOUR board the BEST.
  5. What a region. I mean there are 3 or 4 really good teams that'll never see Austin (but 1 super team that will -- LCM?).
  6. Hey...how do we know that Silsbee is the #1 seed in that district?
  7. I saw the same on the other site. Thanks for putting it on here.
  8. Some random thoughts: 1. Vidor has not turned it around. That has little to do with the coach and more to do with (a) the talented district they are in and ( the level of talent at VHS. 2. Blaming a 20-0 loss on a coach ignores a simple fact -- talent, or lack thereof. 3. The comments about the PNG and Nederland programs are out of line. They are good programs (from you on up) but you still need a quality HS coach at that level. 4. Hopefully, Green can 'cut some deals' and get some of his guys named All-District at the meeting. Bottom line, the program won't get better without better players. Simple as that. And before the Vidor folks reply that I am Vidor bashing, that's not true. I'd be just as happy if they were 12-0 or 0-12....but this shoe fits....
  9. The Jasper-Silsbee game this week may determine who gets the 1 vs. 2 seed.
  10. The Corrigan kid (UH signee) pitched a very good ball game...maybe the best all year against us. Serna was hard luck loser as he pitched well, too. Just wasn't WB's night. Tough year for WB....they're gonna win 20 games and sit at home. Was a long April for them.
  11. I thought so but he was listed as being from Texas (????). Either that or we got a new high school (and city) in the state. Kershaw has had a great sr. season. Talent-wise, the article still likes Drabek but question his 'makeup'. Same with Kiker out of Alabama.
  12. WB loses to Humble 2-0, and is eliminated from playoff contention. Details as follow: Humble 1 0 0 1 0 0 0 = 2 6 1 WB 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 = 0 5 2 WP - Corrigan LP - Serna (5 IP, 2 R, 2 ER, 6 K, 1 BB) Fisher (1 2/3, 0 R, 0 H, 1 K, 2 BB) Crawford (1/3, 0 R, 0 H, 0 K, 0 BB) Serna 0-3 Lycan 1-2, BB Ferguson 2-3 Falgout 0-3 Wallace 0-2 Schwarzlose 0-1 Calvert 1-3 Fisher 0-1 McBryde 0-1 Henderson 0-1 Balfanz 0-2
  13. Baseball America has put out its top 50 HS players for the 2006 draft (although the article is entitled 'Tepid HS Draft'). Those from Texas are: #1 - Clayton Kershaw - LHP - Highland Park (Texas A&M) #2 - Kyle Drabek - PHP/SS - The Woodlands (undecided) #7 - Jordan Walden - RHP - Mansfield (UT) #22 - Aaron Miller - LHP/OF - Channelview (Baylor) #25 - Nathan Karns - RHP - Arlington Martin (UT) #28 - Brandon Belt - LHP - Lufkin Hudson (UT) #31 - Dustin Dickerson - OF/1B - Waco Midway (Baylor) #41 - Carmine Giardina - LHP - Durant HS, Plant City (UT) #47 - Zach Britton - LHP - Weatherford (Texas A&M) www.baseballamerica.com
  14. WB clings to thin playoff hopes with 10-0 win over Spring Westfield on Friday night. Detail: WB 1 2 1 1 0 3 2 = 10 11 1 WF 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 = 0 2 3 WP Svoboda (5 IP, 2 H, 0 R, 3K, 3 BB) Crawford (1 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 1 K, 0 BB) Doubt (1 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 2 K, 0 BB) LP Irving Murphy 1-1, 2B (left game with injury) Svoboda 0-2, BB Chaisson 1-1, 2B, 1 R, 1 RBI Lycan 1-2, 2 BB, 2 R, 1 RBI Vincent 0-1 Ferguson 1-3, BB, 1 R, 1 RBI Wilkinson 0-1 Falgout 1-4, 2B, RE, 1 RBI Fisher 0-1, RE Armstrong 1-3, SF, RE, 2 RBI Serna 2-4, 2 R, HR, 2 RBI Calvert 2-2, BB, SAC, 1 R Wallace 1-3, BB, 1 RBI Balfanz 0-3, 1 R Henderson 1-1, 1 R West Brook plays Humble Sat night @ 6:30 in Beaumont.
  15. I think the LCM vs. BC game makes great sense. Personally, I think they should play at a neutral site (Lamar, for example). Now, if the coaches will just do it.....
  16. Their strength is their pitching. Angelle, Haymon, Stringer and Meeks make up an outstanding rotation at any classification, especially 3A.
  17. Rogers was good at Jasper and is doing good at Alvin. Its just a tough district. The Yellow Jackets had a great preseason then struggled once 24-5A started. They may still have some playoff hopes but they're slim. Nevertheless, Rogers has done a very good job there.
  18. Man, that's just mean. Sparks is a very good pitcher, although I think I'm on record as disagreeing with previous posts that he was 2nd best. I also don't think 1 kid blows a game like that. You gotta have 9 guys 'blowing it' to lose to Anahuac.
  19. How many does he have? What is his SB/SBA ave.?
  20. Congrats to Coach Huggins and Bardin....and the rest of the Bulldogs.
  21. Hard to argue with Womack ....although Powell and Hart obviously had very good weeks as well.
  22. By the way (and I sorta answered my own question): Last year, 22-5A had co-MVPs -- Castolenia and Bruce, both from West Brook...who finished 3rd in district.
  23. Will MVP be someone other than 2-way player (pitcher and position player)?
  24. You take the best player on the undefeated district leaders and its hard not to pick those guys: Ehlert and Angelle. I guess we could turn this into a discussion of what does "MVP" mean...is it the best player in the district, the best player on the district champ, the player who means the absolute most to his team, etc.
  25. The Coleman kid as well is a good player. He should've been on the list, too.
