  1. Maybe we shoulda put the Vidor JV in our Top Ten ????
  2. I will start this thread by nominating John Michael Falgout (1B) from West Brook: .777 batting average (7-9) .800 on base pct. (8-10) 1.667 slugging pct. 3 x 2B, 1 x 3B, 1 x HR 7 runs scored 6 RBI Just an outstanding week for the West Brook senior.
  3. Cheap shot at Nick Ayers....oughta be ashamed. The kid had a tough night. Who doesn't? He had a great week last week and was recognized for it. I'm embarrassed for you, npse........
  4. WB gives up 7 runs in the bottom of the 7th to lose 10-9 to Kingwood. The Mustangs score courtesy of 5 walks, 2 infield singles and 1 'real' single during the rally. Details as follow: WB 0 1 3 0 3 1 1 = 9 12 4 KW 2 0 0 0 0 1 7 =10 7 0 WP - Torres LP - Serna Murphy 1-4, 1 R Lycan 1-3, SAC, 1 R, HR, 1 RBI Ferguson 2-4, 2 R Falgout 3-4, 3 R, 2B, HR Armstrong 2-3, BB, 2 R Serna 202, BB, SF, 2 RBI Calvert 1-3, HBP, 2 RBI Wallace 0-4 Schwarzlose 0-0 Balfanz 0-4
  5. Carnahan is also a good one. He stepped in while Buchanan was out and did agreat job. The class of 08 has a good compliment of catchers to choose from.
  6. Casey is our projected "Newcomer of the Year' on the Preseason Team and is living up to that hype quite well.
  7. I also like the kid from BH (Campbell). Very nice arm, quick release.
  8. Huge win for West Brook as they hand Rice signee Ryan Berry his 1st loss. Mark Serna threw very well for WB in claiming the CG win. Details are as follow: West Brook 0 0 0 2 3 0 0 = 5 7 1 Humble 0 1 0 0 2 0 0 = 3 5 1 WP -- Serna (7 IP, 3 R, 3 ER, 6 K, 4 BB) LP -- Berry (7 IP, 5 R, 4 ER, 8 K, 2 BB) Murphy 0-3, BB, RE, 1 R Lycan 1-3, BB, 1 R, 2 RBI Ferguson 2-4, 1 R Falgout 2-3, 1 R, 2B, 2 RBI Armstrong 0-3 Serna 1-3, RE Calvert 0-3 Wallace 0-3 Schwarzlose 0-0 Balfanz 1-3, 1 R
  9. I'll take Buchanan (esp when healthy). Just a heckuva catcher and a heckuva leader.
  10. I think Sparks or Ayers makes the difference here....esp. since HJ has already played their ace. On the other hand, you still gotta go out there and hit it, catch it and throw it. Big, big game in that district.
  11. Jacob Walton is doing great. The kids all seem to like him, they're doing well (16-5). When you got happy kids and you're playing well, what's there not to like? As far as the post about 2A players, I had asked in an earlier post to give us some names, etc and we'll check 'em out. Still waiting.....
  12. The Hawks have just thrown a huge monkey wrench into that district race for 2nd and 3rd. What a great thing -- every game matters from here on out.
  13. Details on West Brook vs. Pt. Arthur Memorial: WB 2 6 0 4 0 0 0 = 12 15 5 PAM 0 0 0 5 0 0 0 = 5 7 3 WP - Doubt (4 IP, 5 R, 0 ER, 5 H, 1 K, 0 BB) Crawford ( 3 IP, 0 R, 2 H, 2 K, 0 BB) Murphy 2-4, SAC, 1 R, 3B, HR, 2 RBI Lycan 0-3 Henderson 1-1, BB Ferguson 1-2, BB, 2 R Vincent 1-2 Falgout 2-2, BB, 3 R, 2B, 3B, 1 RBI Wilkinson 0-2 Armstrong 2-3, 1 R, 2 x 2B, 3 RBI Fisher 0-1, BB Serna 2-3, 2 R, HR, 2 RBI Chaisson 0-1 Calvert 2-3, 1 R McBryde 0-1 Wallace 1-2, RBI Schwarzlose 0-1 Balfanz 1-4, R West Brook improves to 16-5-1 (4-2). The game was played at PA Memorial with no extra-baseball incidents.
  14. I don't think the Nick Christopher story is fit for print here. Suffice it to say that (a) he is not at West Brook and ( he is not D1 material.
  15. A lot of different information is flying around today on this issue. The game is at PA, then the game is back at WB. Right now, I'm not sure even the players know where they'll be tonight. One rumor has the Houston-area schools refusing to come to PA and that is even with the threat of a forfeit by UIL. Whether that is true or not remains to be seen but highlights the issue quite well. Of course, the AD from PA should not have announced the moving of all home games....unless it was true. You got the blind leading the blind down there....
  16. Apparently, the UIL has decreed that the WB-Memorial game tonight must be played in Port Arthur after all. This is after the PA AD announced no more home games.
  17. The new poll from Baseball America has been released: #1 is The Woodlands Highlanders. Moving up to #15 is 4A powerhouse, Brenham Cubs.
  18. Well, give us some names on some of the other 2A guys who should be considered. That is what this board is for ....the exchange of information. Thanks.
  19. Word is that Tuesday's West Brook vs. Memorial game has been moved to West Brook, with West Brook being the visitor.
  20. I'm not sure what expectation 'The Truth' is talking about....HJ, at best, was marked as having a shot at the 3rd spot in this district. They have met that expectation in terms of being 'in the hunt' for that spot. The team that has upset the apple cart, so to speak, is HF. I know they took it on the chin last night to BC but they are still a very good team who had a very bad night. The truth? HJ is (and was) either the 3rd or 4th best in this district.
  21. 1. Other than Armstrong's HR, no 'big' hits with men on. 2. An error here, couple of walks there, and 2 HRs from Lee -- added up quick. 3. Just a lackluster day for the Bruins.
  22. Tough day for the Bruins. They lost a game they should've won. This may come back and bite 'em later in the year when playoff position is at stake.
  23. West Brook loses to Baytown Lee, 7-3. West Brook 0 0 0 0 0 2 1 = 3 10 3 Baytown Lee 2 3 0 0 2 0 x = 7 6 3 WP - Moses (7 IP, 3 R, 1 ER, 10 H, 5 K, 1 BB) LP - Serna (4 1/3 IPj, 7 R, 6 ER, 5 H, 4 K, 5 BB) Murphy ( 1 2/3 IP, 0 R, 1 H, 2 K, 0 BB) Murphy 3-4, 1 R, 2B Lycan, 0-4, 1 RBI Serna 0-4, RE Falgout 1-4, RE, 1 R Ferguson 2-3 Armstrong 2-3, 1 R, HR, 2 RBI Calvert 1-2, RE, BB Wallace 1-3, 2B Balfanz 0-3
