Talk up the smack all ya'll want but on paper Dayton's 09 stats prove the nucleus is in place they're the team to beat. What puzzles me is 3 mediocre seasons 07-09 BH was 14 wins-17 losses but in 8 seasons prior 99-06 former BH HC Price was (80 wins-14 losses and he's gone)Careful what you wish for. Bronco HC Stewart 99-06 was( 64 wins-29 losses)and we love it enuff to name the stadium after him and give him a raise since 07-09 he's 38-9. 8) ::) ;D

Brenham...

WR Derek Edwards- Commited- Texas Tech.  Offers- Texas Tech, Texas A&M, Colorado, Oklahoma State, Arizona, Oregon, Houston, TCU, SMU.
OT John Poehlmann- Offers- Baylor, Colorado State, Rice, New Mexico.
CB Rodney Hubert- Commited- SMU.  Offers- SMU.
Surprised there's no Longhorn commits. Brenham's a regular target of Texas.
I'm really surprised that Edwards didn't have an offer from there.  Good student, former silver medalist in the triple jump and an awesome WR.  Poehlmann's Brother is a lineman at UT, so him not having an offer is surprising to me to too.  Malcolm Brown will just be a junior, but after this season he might have an offer from UT.  According to The Old Coach FNF magazine, "Brown is already considered to be the top interior defensive lineman in the class of 2012 in Texas".

I hope Central crushes Ball, I remember being a sophmore at WB we played at Ball and they turned over, that's right TURNED over two of our school buses after we beat them. I can't stand Ball High.
Man I love playing idiots like that!  I hope we get to play Ball soon.  I'll be sure to let people around here know how the island people are.  The worse you act while playing us, the harder we play, and were not too shabby already.  I remember playing Navasota and having food and drinks thrown at us as we entered.  A couple fights almost broke out before the game.  It was a dirty game too.  We ended up winning and we were gonna run the ball at the end of the game, but they kept throwing stuff at us and booing, so we kept stopping the clock and calling audibles to passing plays.  It was great leaving them with a 30-3 beat down.  They rocked our bus and were yelling as we pulled away.

I'd rank Santa Fe a little higher, like 4 or 5...no worse than 6.  They had an ok year in a tough district last year...  It should be a close game against y'all.

I think coach Woodard from Lamar needs to make a call to Brenham.
If you know him tell him to make the call...  Hall is awesome in 3 sports, especially football and baseball.  He better call quick though, cuz he won't be on the market long...  Coach West said he got the call in D.C. while boarding a plane, and stopped in Atlanta and turned his phone back on.  Four college coaches had already left messages all offering him a scholarship.
6. http://www.brenhambanner.com/articles/2010/07/07/sports/sports01.txt

SMwho???  I really don't understand this, but it will hurt their recruiting...  Not only will they lose Hall's talent, they could possibly lose Brenham CB, Rodney Hubert who is verbally commited there as well (atleast for now) and future prospects that they might be interested in.  Jeremy Hall and Rodney Hubert are really good friends and i'm sure he's not happy with this either.  Coach West says, he will warn all his athletes that this is a possibility.  SMU is messing up here, big time!  Their coach appealed, but it was denied.  Luckily for Hall, he's very talented and it will help him get into another school.    ???

*If you know any college coaches that would be interested in him, let them know...  This dual sport star is available!
7. Who doesn't want to beat the #3 team in the state....  That puts a huge bullseye on our back and takes the pressure off of every that plays us, except maybe Lamar.

1. Lamar- Always a battle.  Instead of taking a knee last year, they scored in the last 2 mins after already being up 14.  We havn't forgot...  What makes it worse is this was a scheduled home game, but was moved to Delmar do to bad weather the night before.  Decission to play this game was made at 8AM Sat., and started at noon.  (It was what gave us the extra nudge we needed, to due away with our grass and bring in the turf in 2010) Probably wouldn't have played it at all, we had our district opener against Montgomery the following week and coach West wanted us to be ready.  It payed off cuz we only won 14-7 the following week.  Brenham by 3.
2. Montgomery- IMO, the most underrated 4A team in the area.  Dobbins will be a force as usual.  Lucky for us it's a home game.  (Brenham, Montgomery or Stratford will win the district) Brenham by 10.
3. Stratford- We end the season at Tully against the Spartans.  Could determine the district champ, and will be a very good tune up before the playoffs.  Brenham by 7.
4. Huntsville- We won by 16 last year and that was when they had Justin Gilbert.  Add in the fact that they have a new coach and it's the first game of the year...  It will be a game for us to try new things, as I think we should easily get the W this time.  Brenham by atleast 17.
5. Waller- As everybody knows, we blew a 14 point lead last year in the fourth quarter, losing 15-14 to a Waller team that started the season 0-6.  It cost us our undefeated run in district and our #10 ranking.  What a way to end the season...losing to our hated rival.  Their principal even mentioned the upset at their graduation before the seniors walked.  It caused alot of teams to underestimate us in the playoffs, but don't expect it to happen again.  Brenham brings down Waller ISD stadium winning by atleast 24, in what DC labeled the #2 revenge game next year.  That's right, this gets ugly, early and it will put Waller in a struggle for that fourth playoff spot.
6. Lamar Consolidated- Our first victims on the new playing surface.  I'm sure the new scorboard will get broke in, due to the fact that the Mustangs are rebuilding.  Brenham by 17.
7. Magnolia- Beating us will be hard, with it being in Brenham and considering they lost their best player.  Brenham by 24.
8. Magnolia West- Even though they will have a new coach,  but they will still contend for the fourth spot in 17-4.  They play us in Brenham, and should start us off on the right foot in distict play.  Brenham by 31.
9. Spring Woods- They only won once last year and that was against Northbrook.  Seeing how they are our opponent for Homecoming, I don't see their first visit to Cub Stadium being a pleasent one.  Brenham by atleast 31.
10. Northbrook- Winless last year and even with the drop to 4A, I don't see them doing much better this year.  Beating them by less than 38 isn't acceptable.

Pediction- 10-0
Possibly- 9-1
At Worst- 7-3
8. Were all proud of the kids and hopefully, we can continue the success next year.

Football and Volleyball- remember what our baseball team just did...lost the year before and came out hungry this year and won it all.  You can do the same thing next year.  Our football team never gave up, from being an underdog to then undefeated and #5 PNG, to back to back second half come backs against #10 Angleton after being down 21-0 at the half and 17-0 in the fourth quarter to 08' region 3 champ, Dayton.  Volleyball won what is arguably the toughest district in the state, topped off by upseting Friendswood in the regional championship.

Basketball and Softball- great seasons with deep playoff runs.  Basketball saw 2 teams from our district in the regional semis before we were eliminated by La Marque.  Softball battled through a fierce district in order to make their playoff run.

Soccer- guys and girls both made deep playoff runs and both lost by just a goal.  (the boys in extra time)

Baseball- we entered the season as the #1 team in the state and ended the season the #1 team in the state.  Great job, ending the 22 year drought and bringing the championship back home to "the baseball capital of Texas"  This team broke all kinds of records this year...most notably 15 tournament appearances and 7 state titles.

*Congrats to Friendswood and The Woodlands also

Well, if Diggs was hurt for the Terry and Brenham game, then I still say Terry exposed them more.
Brenham was able to get more offense together and staged a comeback for the ages in the fourth quarter.
It's like that Plano East-TJT game.
It's tough to say that Plano East exposed TJT.  What they did was put on the greatest comeback in high school football history.
Angleton handled Brenham and took them behind the woodshed for the first three quarter.
It's a four quarter game though unfortunately for Angleton.

I don't think that Angleton was exposed nearly as much as you are trying to claim.
Diggs should be healthy this year, so that part of the exposure gets covered back up.
According to the chronicle, Diggs was 100% when we played them.  He missed 2 and half games before we played them.  I do agree, they took it to us the first half. (well Diggs and there defense did) We dominated the second half and had to in order to come back.  They had no answer for our receivers, especially Derek Edwards.  Having one of the best db's in the state and not playing him at db when our air attack was torching their secondary, might be what lost them the game.  Bottom line, you slow Diggs down, you have a good chance to win.  One player will win you some games, but not all of them.

Not so certain about Elkins being an easy win.
They were 8-2 in the regular season last year, have 12 starters back, and only lost by 2 in the playoffs to a Clear Springs team that made it to the quarterfinals.

They did get hammered by Hightower and Kempner though.

I would say that Elkins falls somewhere between a Rosenberg Terry and a Friendswood caliber team.

I'm not so sure how much Brenham exposed Angleton as opposed to just staging one helluva comeback.
Terry actually probably exposed them more.  Terry played and contained Angleton from wire to wire, losing only 10-2.

Angleton had less than 250 yards of offense against Terry, whereas they had over 420 against Brenham.
Other than that long td run diggs in the second half, they were lifeless after halftime.  Let me rephrase it...  We exposed angletons secondary, made changes at halftime and only gave up that one second half td.  They were 1 for 5 passing...  Only completion was the opening pass where they did that reverse-deep pass and still couldn't score on it.  Diggs had all of their td's and they were all long runs. (that's why they had so many yards.) Poor coaching too.  As for Terry, they did a great job against angletons offense, but their offense couldn't even score, so i'm not sure if that exposed much.  Diggs was also injured that game, and that's Angletons whole offense.  Put the 2 games together and it shows alot.  Not to mention, Manvel beat angleton the last game of the regular season. (pretty handily too...again, diggs was hurt part of that game)

I don't know if I would call it a problem.  No doubt they are very atheletic, but this is the fourth consecutive time we have played them, so it's nothing were not use to.  They lead the series 2-1, but last game was a little misleading.  It was the worst we played all year.  It was supposed to be played on a Friday night, but wasn't due to the weather, so the decission to play Saturday was made at 8 and the game started at noon.  We didn't play in Brenham like it was scheduled for, instead we made the trip to Delmar that morning. We were losing by 14, but Lamar scored the last TD when they could have just taken a knee.  Now the other 2 times we played Lamar, we split.  They won the first game at Delmar on a hook and ladder play, taking the lead with under a minute to play....(after we dominated the first 3 quarters and drove down to their 35 in under a minute with no time outs)  The second time we played in Brenham, and we won be 1.  (that time, the game was close the whole time) I'm sure we havnt forgot about them throwing into the end zone last year, instead of kneeling.  We'll be ready and this time and we'll be playing in Brenham, breaking in our new turf.
you are asking to much for Lamar just to take a knee. They are always trying to run the score up on teams outside of HISD..
Well i'm sure we got that message after last year and we'll even it up at 2-2 this year.
Prediction- Brenham 24 Lamar 21

dayton will be fine. they do tend to start slow but i think that is the plan in order to find what will work and who can play in game conditions.  only problem i see is the height of the qb, plenty of ability but must roll and not steadily drop back.
Rolling is not always a bad thing.  Our QB rolls out alot and he's been pretty successful at it.  It has actually made him a better scrambler, and he's alot more calm in pressure situations.  Seems like it's helped him in a way.  A few guys just throw better on the move.  (not alot, but some) After a while, he'll get use to it.

Ike will be okay against west brook after playing hightower and north shore the previous two weeks. They will have a scrimmage on Sept 17 to relax and get ready for district 18-5a.  :D :D :D :D :D

Mighty sure of Ike arnt you?  Scrimmage?  Relax?  A lose to Dayton would serve up enough crow for you to have a buffet. :D

Just because Lake Travis is a team full of white boys, don't mistake them for not having good athletes.
They have a lot of guys that have been going on to play college ball.

And, as I said, it is not completely about athletes.

Dayton will be completely overmatched in an athletic sense, so if they win then I would be very impressed with the coaching that they are getting.
I am already impressed with it, but I have never seen them as of yet been quite as overmatched physically as they will be in that game against Ike.

Look, if Dayton beats them, them I will be pretty pessimistic about the chances of Lee being able to hang within 30 points of Dayton.

I don't think Lee should be able to beat LT on paper.
On paper LT probably has 30+ seniors while Lee has 11 on paper.
Of course LT has atheletes...  How else do you else do you explain back to back to back state championships.  If i'm  not mistaken, they did that with 3 different coaches too.

Brenhamfan your last comment hit the nail on the head. All the teams lately to beat the Broncos have done it VIA air mail.Diggs will be in the def.backfield 1 day @Texas.Look for Dayton to make an early statement against #5 Angleton.Very few teams have had success running on Dayton -avg.last year under 94 yds.per gm.We could lose to the 2-5A teams and beat Angleton and move up in the polls :) 8) ::) ;D
Very true...  I'm a little worried about our game against Lamar.  The last time we were ranked and played them was 06'.  We came into the season ranked #1 and we looked like we would hold them off, leaving Delmar with a narrow victory, but with 0:56 left they pulled off a 68 yard hook and ladder play to take the lead.  Jarrett Lee and Brandon Collins ran the 2-minute offense to perfection, but we ran out of time after we drove down to their 35.  The next year, we beat them by 1.  Always alot of D1 talent on the field when we play and this year will be no exception.  We win that and we will be #1 or #2, cuz Lake Travis plays Aledo that seem week....plus LT opens with 5A's #4 team, Westlake and Aledo opens with 4A's #4 team, Stephenville.   ;) ;D  August 27 can't get here soon enough!
Aledo will be but a bump in the road for LT - LT will remain #1 - nobody will slow Travis down  "one more makes four"
Your probably right, but Westlake has a shot.
