  1. Is this based on the pre-season polls and team previews? If not then the replies will be biased. 8)
  2. Complete refersal of the original post. For the record the "so-called blowout" was Lumberton 18 - Silsbee 16. If you guys would quit building shopping centers you might stay 4A. Judging the population boom in Lumberton, you will be in 4A a long time. Silsbee will be back up there eventually and then the rivalry can resume. Until then, can it with the blowout talk until it happens in this millenia. Matter of fact check the stats and see how miserable Lumberton has been. Real Bad. I mean real bad. The Forum is "Southeast Texas All-Time Football Records".
  3. Maybe I was blind during my playing days. I didn't excel in football but I didn't stink either. The main thing I remember about playing football was the intensity of the game itself. Loved how I was in another world when the ball was in my hands, how I seemingly felt nothing until the game was over and the adrenaline tank was empty. I do not remember ever seeing parents at our practices. I know mine weren't there and I played regularly. Football games are won by the players drive, determination and talent to implement the game plan established by the coaches. More often than not the poor execution of designed plays and lack of preparation is the cause of lost opportunities. I personnally think that the coaches need the COMPLETE and FULL attention of their players in order to properly access their skill level, both present and future, in order to develop the TEAM, not the player. Just my honest opinion, whether you agree or not.
  4. I guess I missed this game. Who did this Simien guy play for? I remember that Byrd fella from Splendora who ran all over us, but no Simien comes to mind.
  5. Seems that I remember that two of their players who were on the field when I watched them play BC and Silsbee were Hazelwood and Rhodes, both of them offensive impact players. I did not notice any defensive standouts. If they play as they did last year and get some help on defense then they will do well in the district. But, without a steady defense you will come close to getting beat in 2 or 3 games and losing in the playoffs. Bad as I hate to say it, It happened to the Tigers last year and unless you added more offensive studs you're defense better be a lot better.
  6. Silsbee has been putting some pretty good lines together these past few years. Looks like another group to wear out the D-Line of opposing teams. This works well with the steady running attack. Castle should have a pretty good season at RB with the tall and athletic Johnson behind center.
  7. I was wondering because WO92 isn't usually in that kinda mood. 8)
  8. Let me get this straight? Is this a prediction for the score or a couple of your lottery numbers?
  9. I heard he was coming to Silsbee? Anyone confirm this yet?
  10. And now for my first reply of the season.... For a second there I almost believed I could stomach this guys posts and replies. Too bad everyone else has to put up with this. Still taking Silsbee though. K-Ville not big or strong enough to last the whole game play for play. Only chance is too score quick and often. For the record alot of teams did that last year to us save a few and still lost. Look for more of the same ground pounding attack that wears down opponents with less offensive talent coupled with a much quicker defense. Bring your A-Game. Silsbee by 10 again. 31 - 21 Final Score. See ya on the next post.
  11. Calm Down, Shark I am pretty sure he is referring to our tough district schedule. Emotion starts to build from the first game in this district and after a battle like this it is tough not to be prepared. Toughest district in the state by far in 3A. Good season Cards', you will be back and of course Silsbee will bein the way again, See it through Dogs', great team character and now finish the job. We will be waiting and watching. Good luck and god speed.
  12. Sounds like you were one of the ones standing. Must have hurt you're feelings. :-\
  13. Take it like it was meant. It was disrespectful. IT was also inconsiderate, a little common sense goes a long way. They know the difference.
  14. Great observation on the pitching change MIF04. Great coaching move for the simple reason that he gets the pitcher out of the game and saves his arm for another day, the of chance that they come back and he can bring him back in the same game or just to clean the slate and make the game respectable. A move in my opinion that saved his season. A good coaching move that is not done enough in my opinion. BC's game plan was not bad. The errors on top of the timely hitting by the dogs just led to a long inning. Might be reaching but games like this seem to dismantle the core foundation of a team and it takes a season to lay that foundation. Not enough time left to start over. Dig deep Cards', you will need it.
  15. First of all this is about as stupid a response as I have ever heard. Second, stand in front of me and I promise you will not have time to cheer your fans as I will be digging in your backside for being rude and disrespectful. ANYONE who pays to get in and watch this game should get to do just that. Do your rallying between the innings and then get out of the way. Disrespectful young adults.
  16. It was inevitable that someone would complain about the umpiring. Ridiculous no matter how it was intended. 10 errors in this game. Each team has to make some adjustments, because they have thrown their aces and now (presumably) the ball will be in play much more and defense will be ab even bigger factor for runs scored. Clean up the play first, then maybe you can blame an umpire.
  17. As always, a great piece that has become a wellknown piece to this website. I dig the random thoughts.
  18. Gotta love the community support. So underrated in so many towns. Good Luck Jaylon.
  19. To me 3rd Base ahs always produced quality athletes. Anyone who can sit down there in the box and wait for an unannounced missile gets my vote. Just My Two Cents....
  20. Gettin' front row seats myself. For those of you who don't know me I will be on crutches. Had offseason surgery. Be glad to meet some of you. Good Luck Cards and Dogs.
  21. Not big on speed and such in high school. ANY pitcher with command can control a high school baseball game. Add speed and he most surely can dominate it. However, a wise old coach once told a hard throwing high school pitcher and college bound athlete this: " Everyone can hit a fastball in college kid. " Have always been and will always be a fan of the change-up. Master this pitch along with command of a high 80's fastball and you will do well. Just my two cents...
  22. Can you spell more injuries... Not a big fan of turf. :-\
  23. Every player that comes out of WOS is playing under someones shadow... It is called reloading...
  24. I have no idea who you are talking about..... ;) ;)
  25. I was at this game. HF had plenty of opportunities. Couldn't capitalize. Silsbee should have lost this game. Worst game of the year for Silsbee except for the letdown in the playoff game against Columbia.
