For the record: Silsbee last Ten years Playoff 2012 Carthage 2013 Carthage 2014 Henderson 2015 Carthage 2016 Carthage 2017 Carthage 2018 Cuero 2019 Wimberly 2020 Carthage There are very few teams from this area who could say "If Carthage wasnt in our Region we might have one it all" like Silsbee could. 2018 & 2019 are prime examples. Back to Back State Semi FInals, and jmo but the 2015 & 2016 teams had a very good chance to win as well. There are the occasional let down years but those are usually senior heavy teams that have left the year prior. Id say Silsbee is very competitive in Region 3 across the three major sports. I have said what i want... Carthage's Championship Legacy has ended Silsbee playoff runs too early, anybody else and who knows. Football.

Ok....sorry. Carthage is that good. Talent that never ends. When they're offense is "down" and they will most likely go 16-0, they are that good. That being said nothing I would love more on this last 10 years for an upset of that size. Make no mistake. If Carthage never goes back up and Surratt stays....it will be a stupid amount of championships for the record books.

Two point attempts were situational: Down 15-7. Stopped short on QB sneak. Down 15-13. Stopped short, according to refs, using Dodd. Dodd. 24 Car / 123 YDs / 2 TDs if that's not good enough for some, then oh well. I will agree on the QB. That was the adjustments made that some didn't see I guess. It didn't work because of execution. Execution failed due to penalties and poor timing between QB/Receivers. When it was right Silsbee was unstoppable. Saenz 34 YD TD on beautiful roll out pass. Cartwright 77 YD TD on perfect slant in stride that was nullified to apparent False start. Three drives inside 20. Penalties, poor pass for INT, etc. Of course, jmo. But I did have a birdseye view, next to coaches and stadium staff who miraculously saw much the same. Called it like I saw it. In the end. Doesn't matter anymore. Season over and next year will tell if Silsbee gets better and does not make these mistakes next year.

This game is gonna be determined on the defensive side of the ball. Young defense for Silsbee has to start finishing the game. Remain focused. I for one see a high scoring shootout. Very dynamic players on the field in Hmielewski for Sealy and Miller for Silsbee. Key Matchups: Williams/Carter (OLB) vs Hmielewski (QB) - Needs to keep him in pocket so Tiger Secondary can create opportunities. Krenek/Wernecke (CB) vs Miller (WR) - Big bodied athletic playmakers who can change this game on both sides of the field. Side Note: Hmielewski was out for the Bellville game. We appreciate the compliment. Apologize for the player mix-up and will endeavor to do better. I don't remember speaking on transfer players during the broadcast but I will go back and listen just to make sure.

Was that 15-16 season for Mackey or the 14-15 season?

I don't have the all time records but from my limited memory (2000-2021).... Miller may not only set the single season receiving record for Silsbee this year but could in fact eclipse career records for Silsbee receivers in his first season. The closest I know of stats wise to D. Miller this year is K. Barnes (2016-17) and Miller has blown those numbers out the water before the playoffs. I'd have to defer to more seasoned people to clear this up but if the pace continues then no doubt he will be all time leader at Silsbee, if he stays at receiver, by the time he graduates. Jmo

Most prob won't remember but these key plays were unbelievable... 1) Sure INT on 4th Down mishandled and tipped into receivers hands. TD HF 2) Punt - Bad snap to 8 yd line. TD HF 3) Miller w/ INT chance only to be ran into by another player by accident to dislodge ball. 4) HF Fumble - Ruled down 5) HF Fumble - Offsides on kickoff (1 of 3 in game for both teams..lol.) 6) Heckaman Sacked/Fumble on 4th Down (Field Goal Attempt?) These were just a few of the plays that happened to keep this game close. I enjoyed calling it.
