  1. Maybe so...yet they lost to Orangefield a #4 seed. Maybe they need 4 quality bats instead.
  2. Kennedale went down as well. Several #1 Seeds lost ot #4 seeds. Jasper was probably best team in their district.
  3. Good luck on the venture and welcome to the forum.
  4. One more thing... The off-season regimen is COMPLETELY different now than in the past. Nobody is exempt from the workouts. If it's possible, Silsbee will be stronger, faster and scary as it may sound. More disciplined.
  5. I believe last years offense was a pre-cursor to bigger plans. Smith simplified the run game and really focused on educating his interior lineman. Smart move. Knew he had a big time back that could make quick changes to missed blocks and that paid dividends early on. That offensive line showed tremendous improvement as the season went along and Tyler had HUGE games. Go watch film and see how many times he was beyond the linebackers before anyone realized it. Defense will get better, I have to believe that. It takes time to teach true defense. Collins is a completely different QB than Jones. Bigger with quicker release and runs well also. Only time will tell but I think the quicker you get the ball in the air to Kalon the better he is at going to the ball. Running game will be solid. jmo....
  6. Its always a risk not throwing your top pitcher for Game 1. A strategic move that almost payed off for Jasper in those terms. If score would have held, then Jasper is up 1-0 and has their top pitcher available for game 2. It can work both ways. Me, Im throwing my best at the time at whoever and ride the results.
  7. Its Jasper. Long time rivalry with lots of history. They will come to play, as last night showed. Still like Silsbee.
  8. Fourth Inning was tough. Sundgren took line drive off foot and threw almost 40 pitches in the inning. Tough young man. (Said it didn't hurt that bad but ball ended up in right field after hitting him. lol.) Three walks to start the 7th and then the gates just opened. Jasper played very well considering the errors early. Today should be interesting.
  9. I wouldn't give WOS an error on that play. If anyone was to get one it would be third base. Tough play for any shortstop to make. Solid game for both squads. There couldn't have been a better tune-up game for either. Congrats on the DC. But it's time to roll in the playoffs.
  10. Just let it rest for once. Ignore the venting and celebrate a fantastic game, though it's tough to swallow. Good game by Dallas. On tonight. To my dog, T. Grit my man. True grit.
  11. Good game Stangs. We'll see you again I'm sure. Good luck in the playoffs.
  12. Pitchers duel and the game comes down to an error.
  13. its a packed house here in Tiger country.
  14. I agree. Just play the games/sports and be young adults. I for one am sick of the constant conversation about our community and their sports environment. We have a lot of fine young athletes that deserve proper recognition for their accomplishments. It's prevalent, even in these forums, that some Silsbee fans/players have to overcome the impulse to always respond to every comment or action. Hopefully some changes are being made at the junior high school sports level. As well as us Parents.
  15. The gods will come back down the mountain in August.
  16. And I was so looking forward to some baseball conversation. Guess Santa can come on this forum and complete the trifecta.
  17. Whitted with second straight shutout and barely missed the no no. Tiger bats continue to be strong.
  18. Hoping to make this one. Work schedule has been crazy lately.
  19. I stand corrected. I actually forgot that he filled in nicely punting and then safety. My bad.
  20. Far as I know. Think its more to keep his body healthy. Probably one of the reasons he doesn't play football anymore.
  21. Silsbee wins 9-0 Noah Whitted moves to 5-0 w/ Complete Game performance. 7 IP / 3 H / 2 BB / 7 Ks 88 Total Pitches Another fine outing for the senior. Silsbee hasn't missed a beat after having to rest last year's #2 & #3 Starters. Setting up for a deep run with a strong offense to go with pitching this year.
