  1. and its not even January yet.
  2. Keys to Success: 1. Tradition? Hardly. It helps for a team to have some, but not if the tradition includes losing. Change to "Winning Tradition" 2. Coaching Continuity? Possibly.. But again... not if there is no success. If your community/players NEVER or RARELY have to endure a change in coaching philosophy it is a big advantage. There are no short learning curves in those programs. One School...ahem....has 30+ years of coaching philosophy. 3. Talented Athletes? No argument there. A must, though at the High School Level, one truly gifted athlete gets you a big head start. Throw in 2, 3, 4, 5 at one time. Good lord. 4. Community Support? It helps tremendously. No athlete can resist the roar of the crowd. Its intoxicating. I personally believe that when talented athletes, not the gifted ones, stay in their community. Then encourage acceptance of a philosophy that was there before them, with them and will be there after them, then there can be no confusion of what is expected from them. Success. Note: There has to be multiple examples of success. Championship trophies, collegiate players, professional players, etc. Those success stories have to continue to be part of the community to cement the winning philosophy. For our area, West Orange-Stark got it right. Lucky? Maybe, all winning traditions need a little luck here and there. It doesn't matter. That program has found what works for their community. Why change it.... I love when WOS comes to town. It brings out the best in our athletes. Enjoy their brand of football. The last three years of WOS football is kinda like the Greek Spartans of old. You can talk noise, no problem, but you'll probably end up at the bottom of a deep hole or piled up next to the others. I'm done. Respect. #TigerNation
  3. Wagner 76-71 Silsbee Under two to play #AlamoCityHoops
  4. Uh oh! Tristan Clark has fouled out with 6:19 to go
  5. Silsbee has chopped the Wagner lead down to 4 in the 3Q
  6. Silsbee makes a small run and Wagner calls timeout. Wagner still leads 58-49 with 3:31 left in 3Q
  7. To open the half, Silsbee hits a 3 and Wagner '19 PG Jalen Jackson hits a pull up as an answer [Hidden Content]
  8. After a offensive rebound on a FT and a foul, the Silsbee coach gets a tech. Clark makes both to take a 44-33 lead with less than a min 2Q
  9. Wagner runs the hell out of lobs for Clark. He just caught another lob. This time from DaRaun Clark on a SLOB
  10. Middle being protected big time. Clark doing big damage with blocks.
  11. Wagner 17 Silsbee 13 end of 1Q #SouthSanTournament #210PrepsHoops
  12. San Antonio is no fan of the aggressive press. saw that in the state tourney as we'll.
  13. Anyone in attendance to update?
  14. You make the Regional Finals then you have played solid football. Good luck.
  15. Like I said. To Close to Call.. Local Teams. Budding Rivalry. In the end it was a good win.
  16. Lots of hype on this game. I for one will be front and center tonight. If you only had access to the social media trash talking going on. LoL. One of the benefits of having a teenager is the inside info.
  17. as well as the usual CardinalBacker comments. Sometimes you could just let it go.
  18. See my statement earlier.
  19. Wasn't really criticizing, just would hate that idea being out there. Bruce has a lot of intangibles that make it a love/hate relationship. No doubt one of the most passionate athletes (Good & Bad) I have witnessed play at Silsbee. Hope his football days continue at the next level.
  20. ouch. low blow. Could have been great offensive plays just as well.
  21. Carthage can ill afford to take a break against Stafford but I think they are built for this one. Gonna have to keep it under 35 to win though, imo. Give me Carthage by 7 Carthage 31 Stafford 24
  22. vs WC on Sat: Bush should be handling the ball if Devon is out. He finished the game with the starting group after Mike J and Harris fouled out and played smarter with the ball than Harris. Ball handling was the reason the second five wasn't effective in my opinion. I look for him to have more opportunities in the Central game. I think the intensity as well as the Athletism will be much different than the WC game. Too close to call.
