1. he he  might be some of the same refs that Liberty had at a home game recently.
2. High score  New Waverly # 11  16 pts # 10  15 pts Hardin M Taylor  11 pts Revis        8 pts
3. That mentality is a huge mountain.  If there has been significant defeat for years/generations, believing in winning instead of almost winning, or we only lost by 10, etc is very hard to over come. 1st you must believe in yourself, then your team, and so on.
4. Just seems like most of the height advantage kids go to Ozen.  Just have to wait and see, the next few years.
5. Liberty is pretty good this year. Coach has done a great job.  vs Hardin, I think this is the worst game Hardin has played in a long time. 26 turnovers in 1st half. 7 inthe 2nd half.  Fitzwater is good. Liberty did not handle being pressed very well in the 2nd half, and will need some work on that.  Summer league was out of control, no referring, and certainly no huge blow outs, more like street ball.,  I do think Liberty will do well this year, just not sure if they will advance once they get to regionals.
6. First of all, it doesn't help the players to believe in themselves whenever bluedove is on here telling them they don't stand a chance and that they don't deserve to be on the team. Now its all your fauly Dove.  if they cannot play well or have chemistry because someone talks about them, they are going to have a tough life.  Ignore the talk, prove them wrong, have a yes I will attitude, I'll show you. Do something about it. If you are not working to fix whats wrong you are part of them problem.  Work even harder then you ever thought you could. If that dang freshman PG is that talented, find out what his secret is. Go to a work out with thim, learn together. You might even teach each other something and build chemistry.
7. Coach DJ gave some advice last week.  As a freshman be seen not heard. Let them see you at your best all of the time. Do not talk noise, etc. Let your game do your talking for you.  Sophomore year its a coming out party.
8. Watched Central vs WB freshman last week, only a couple of kids 6'2 or better between both teams.  Alot of people think 6'2 is a giant around here.  When 6'2 is a small in Houston.
9. 95% of the time he will be the best athlete on the floor. However, I've also seen him get down on his teammates and all around just try to do too much forcing bad shots or making silly passes. His attitude is a problem for me. I don't like to see guys degrade their teammates because they aren't as good 95% - then by district he should be on JV, depending on how far team could go to playoffs, get moved up.  He is a freshman, he will have to learn the whole team captain, role model for a high school player, encourage instead of degrade, but that will come with playing time and maturity. Also, older players may think just because he is offering advice, or his knowledge of the game, that he is degrading them.  It does not mean he thinks he is better then you, his intention is purely to make the teams better.  But what Senior wants to listen to some freshman, right.  If he is already 95% of the time the best athlete on the floor, he might teach them something.  And if you are talented but no one takes you seriously because you are a freshman, you might have a attitude, doesnt make it right, but that can also be corrected.  Team chemistry does not happen over night. Trusting a player takes time. If they cannot catch the passes, they have to work together on that, softer, or just practice getting to know each others touches/likes/dislikes.   Lil Blue Dove - keep working, keep you head up and be patient. Always do what you are capable of, give 112% all the time, no matter where you play, ot at what level. It is still up to the coach to play him at an upper level. Just be so dang good, he would be foolish not to play you.
10. I do agree there is a problem with athletics in Beaumont,  have seen it.  Lots of politics involved, as to who coaches where.  I just don't blame the school board or superintendent for it. There are other people IMO more at fault.  You commented that all of the white people are leaving BISD.  I asked about the non white who are going to the other schools. I believe adding a little color to your team, always helps.  Could that be part of the reason for some of those teams success, or is it the talented white kids that left BISD?  And you right it isn't politically correct, but it is what it is.  Should have its own post,  not here at the WB/Pearland post as well.
11. Hmmmm  which sports are "black sports" ?
12.

Until BISD changes its ways this will be a common theme.  They keep running families out of Beaumont so you will see the Lumberton's Nederland's Bridge City's and PNG's of the world continue to improve and see BISD schools continue to disappoint.
What the heck are you talking about?  Did you even manage to read any of this stuff? Who's running out of BISD?  Enrollment is doing good.  As I said, this have nothing to do with the current topic...  ::) ::)
Denial isn't a river in egypt.  Bisd enrollment has been flat for over twenty years.  As for who is moving out of the district, surely you aren't that ignorant?  All of the white people are leaving bisd.  It started with the great ping pong ball debacle of 1980.  Slowed in the early 90's with the promise of neighborhood schools.  And has picked back up again under the watch of the current superintendent and board.  Since you are in total denial, look at the white enrollment in bisd.  It is around 15% now!
Your still not proving a point... Just sound like a bitter and ignorant individual...
So the non white increase of students in Nederland, PNG, BC, and Lumberton is due to the white people leaving BISD?  Or due to the current board and superintendent in BISD? Crime rate might scare them. Couldnt be any other reason or could it? Thoughts?
13. or Kendrick Perkins since he is still playing in NBA
14. Prayers from the Dumas family. I lost my father 10 yrs ago, but he is with me daily. Yesterday he was cussing out the cowboys. May God grant you peace and lift your spirits.
15. A lot of the local high schools put on camps, info is usually out in April or May. Lamar does some summer camps. Depending on his age, and how much you want to spend,  U of Tx, A&M, etc also do camps in summer.
16. Those lights are huge.  Just keep working , getting better everyday.  The lights will find you when its your time to shine.
17. If your staying where you are for the season, keep working hard and play when and where you are allowed. have you already talked to the coach and asked him the same question. My son is on varsity at a small school. He works hard, but of course there is always room for improvement. It is a young team, with a few key normal starters out with injuries and grades.  There are several schools you do take transfers in this area as well.  Lots of kids on those middle school list are talented, but never reach the potential the list says they  have. Kids quit for all kinds of reason, including playing other sports. I have heard coaches say, do not take much into those list. Your son is talented, has potential. I am learning patience is the key.  There is a top 100 middle school list for the Houston area, seen the list, and have seen my son and other kids put most on the list away early, as i am sure you  have seen with your son. it could be a pride issue for a coach, "this is my varsity team"...... and he is sticking to it. i do not know this coach, but have seen that as well over the years. He may or may not get alot of playing time on Varsity and can help out the other teams. you should ask the coach what his plans are, then make your decision for next year.
18. Coaches have different reason for not playing freshman on the Varsity.  Some have a "rule" about it, although it might not be a smart move on their part.  Pride may be bigger then brain.  Some may hear "rumors", read message boards, etc and think if that player or players parent is not happy with the program they have in place, why would the coach want them on varsity. You never know the reasons things happen.  Keep working hard, do your best when you get your chance, if this is the season you have to endure.  It is also way early in the season, hopefully it will get better by district.
19. They have a 6'4 or 6'5 freshman , think he is on JV though.
20. Haven't seen a packed house at WB basketball games in a while. WB has some good incoming freshman, hopefully the stands will start to fill up soon.  Central girls and Ozen girls have a good following. New gym could also bring playoff games, AAU events, Lil Dribler events, etc. Add the hotel and get the rates better then or comparable to the the local hotels, and the baseball/softball teams that play here would use it also.
21. Not alot of defense from either team.  Hardin was in foul trouble in the 1st quarter.  Experienced players sat alot in this game.  No reason to given up a 22 pt lead, but it happens.  Tarkington hit 11 3's also.  Hardin had way too many turnovers and missed lay ups with the youngsters out there. There is alot they can build on from here.  Def need Miles out there, he was in the huddle at timeouts talking to the boys also, doing what he could. These refs asked about the mercy rule and running the clock, good thing they didn't, Hardin might have won. Seriously, is this a new rule, or just some AAU refs learning to ref high school games.  not blaming the refs but alot of blwon calls in this game.  Tarkington shot 15 FTs to Hardins 4 in the 2nd half. Lots of fouls on both ends of the floor, by both teams, just some were not called Good job Tarkington for never giving up. Hardin pick up your heads, and learn from your mistakes.
22. Is there someone to text or call scores to for this forum?  Can't wait till Tuesday.
23. Kids have been transferring out of PAISD to SP for yearssssssssssss, it is not new and not because of the storm.  Alot of kids from the Port Acres area attend SP as well.
24. They won today 25- 0 vs Clear Lake Falcons.  Clear Lake was undefeated and the only loss the Bulls had this season. Clear Lake was physically punished as the Bulls did not attempted one pass, their RB did an amazing job as the workhorse. They have several workhorses who helped out.  Great discipline by this team as well, using as much of the clock as possible on long drives.  I was very impressed with this young team and the Bulls organization today.  Congrats to the team, players, coaches, parents and administrative board of the Bulls. Good luck to their girls at Drill Competition, it has been moved do to the weather this weekend
