If you click on roster, it evidently shows last year's roster. There is an article in today's Ft. Bend Sun that refers to Burkhalter as a junior which if correct nullifies the roster on this site as 2010's as it shows him as a So. [Hidden Content] That being the case, the younger Matthews will have his work cut out for him. Trying real hard to bait me in, huh?  Well, it worked!   ;D Do you really believe that?  Then I find it real funny you say 'compete'.   PN-G and Central would be wining.  It may be a little more difficult beating Dayton, but whoever have crosby will win.  And Dayton is very beatable as well!
I think you mean central would be whining.  Central is over-rated and should not even be in the conversation with Dayton.
You must be a youngster..  You don't remember the last 2 times the Broncos played Central, do you?  In 2006, a blocked extra point with no time left gave you a 1 point win that year.  In 2007, You were holding on to a 13-0 lead for most of the game to only score a TD with 2 mins left. This was a not so good Central team who lost to Ozen and missed the playoffs.  Dayton would have been in over their heads with the 2008 Jags.  You remember, the team that Marched 4 rounds deep in the playoffs.  And if you didn't know, the 2009 Jags were playing for a district title with a very good PN-G team and also marged 3 rounds deep in the playoffs.
In the 06 game Central clearly had the momentum at the end. If I recall correctly there was a critical Dayton turnover followed by Central playing smash mouth football. I remember sitting in the stands and hoping we do not have to go to OT. When Central scored at the end and # 14 came thru and blocked the PAT the Bronco side went nuts. As for the 07 game that was a solid Bronco victory 20-0 is usually considered as such. I would think Dayton would have to be a favorite in any re-match with the district to the east---if for no other reason than the confidence factor after dominating that area. As for the rest of 19-4A I think we go o-fer.

 18. Agreed. I can appreciate the enthusiasm of a new coach and a new program. The fact is BH will make some big plays with a new offense but will have some spectacular meltdowns as well. I expect to see more of the latter especially when playing a well coached more athletic team as in the Broncos.

Instead they want to argue who is better, so one can fictionally thump their chests until game day when the preconceived notions are obliterated by truth. ~ Whats irritating is your monster ego - and your oxy-moronic statements I never heard anybody say we were better than Ike. And aren't these boards meant to be for opposing teams to argue which team is better.( not according to you )You and your x-5a buds come on here over and over and over bragging about all of the ocean of athletes Ike has like were supposed be intimidated or something and when were not you call us insecure.  Lets talk about that real discussion between the mis-matches - funny you never brought them up one time ? ( and no coaches and discipline don't count )
My monster ego?  I am arguing against the opinion that Dayton was slightly over-matched, and the idea that the athletic discrepancy between the two schools was much larger then was being presented by the opposing view. They only reason i inserted my view on the topic was because of i have seen Ike play...been watching them for the better part of 15 years...and am fairly familar with their style of play. Ike isn't a team that is a monster machine, they haven't been truly good since 2003.  They are merely a shadow of what they were.  Dayton can win the game, and i think i have made that clear in previous posts....The only thing i saw as faulty thinking on the behalf of the Dayton faithful is the insecure stance that Dayton can match up with anyone athletically....it simple just isn't true. I don't expect you to be intimidated....you are Dayton.  No one should scare you, and i am fully aware of that.  Dayton plays great football, and the fact that some of your fans are regurgitation this sort of insecurity in criticism is odd.   If i were to say the same things to Katy, their fans would say "You are right....But We are Katy" .   If Dayton is truly as good as yall believe and truly as good as your record demonstrates....Then let it go.   You are Dayton, stop acting like Port Arthur.
Don't give the purple too much credit.  They are a team of the past, not the future.  Rightfully so, they deserve credit, but that is not going to last after this and next year.  cROSBY IS THE BIG BOY THIS YEAR, WITH bh AND kING MAKING A RUN FOR THE TOP.  dON'T FORGET gcm EITHER. ( Nice going guys!) 2)Board member Benny May, who has a daughter on the basketball team, is telling the paper its all but a done deal on the new coach even though the next board meeting isnt until the 7th, ..that they the board gave approval to make this hire without a meeting...(inside job anyone? lol) The new coach is already meeting the girls...haha Now is guess the next question is, did the daughter get on the wrong side of chancellor and wasn't getting the proper playing time that daddy board member wanted? If so then this all seems to go together.....too funny..maybet his was all part of the gage hiring, agreeing to make these moves to get his job.. New hoops coaches set for BH, Crosby By Dave Rogers The Baytown Sun Published May 29, 2010 Nothing’s official yet, according to school officials, but only formalities remain before the naming of new girls’ basketball coaches at Barbers Hill and Crosby. Administrative timetables prevent school officials from officially hiring new coaches now. But Flower Mound Marcus coach Kit Kyle has already introduced herself as the new Barbers Hill coach, says a person close to the program. Meanwhile, former Barbers Hill coach John Chancellor, who was reassigned as coach in mid-May, has told friends he is headed to Crosby. Barbers Hill athletic director Ronnie Gage said Friday night, “We still have not made the hire official” when asked about reports that Kyle will be next to take over a program that won Class 3A state championships in 1983 and 1997. “She (Kyle) may be (head coach) next week. Right now she’s not officially hired,” Gage said. Friday was the final day of school at Barbers Hill and school board member Benny May said Kyle met with the school’s girls basketball players Friday. The next school board meeting at Barbers Hill isn’t scheduled until June 7. But May, who has a daughter in the Lady Eagles program, said the school board gave superintendent Greg Poole the authority to make the hire without board approval in its last meeting when the job of girls athletic coordinator was created and attached to the girls basketball coaching job. The hang-up at Barbers Hill is that the job must be advertised for 10 days before it is filled, May said. That 10-day window won’t close until early next week, he said. “That’s why it’s not going to be official until Dr. Poole makes it official,” May said. Board approval is required at Crosby, said Kevin Flanagan, the school’s athletic director. The next meeting, he said, is set for June 7. Chancellor, who led Barbers Hill to a 29-6 record this past season and whose team won at least a co-district championship in each of his five years there, told friends late this week he had landed the Crosby coaching job which Flanagan said has been vacant since April. The former BH coach replied to a message asking if he’d been named Crosby coach with a text message Friday night. “No, not yet,” it said. “Waiting on board approval. Give me two weeks and I will talk to you all you want.” Chancellor will be replacing Rhea Guillory, whose team was 5-9 and a sixth-place finisher in District 19-4A in her only year as varsity coach. Flanagan said all three high school girls basketball coaching jobs (varsity, junior varsity and freshmen teams) are currently open. Kyle’s Marcus team was 24-13 this past season, finishing second in District 6-5A and advancing to the second round of the playoffs. She has 366 career wins as a head coach, all at Marcus. She worked three years as a college assistant for current Texas A&M coach Gary Blair and two years as a high school assistant before being hired as head coach at Marcus.
If anyone thinks that ONE Board member can dictate what the entire Board does then you are dreaming. There are seven Board members and I assure that they all are strong willed people. I know several of them personally and they are doing what they believe to be in BHs best interest. In the interest of full disclosure-----Benny May is a friend of mine and is a man of very high integrity and I would bet my last nickel that he truly believes this is the right road to take for the Hill.
