DickVitale....What do YOU see wrong?
-
Dayton scored 8 runs on 10 hits-Crapo, Smesny, and Herrera went 2 for 3. Smesny started and went 4--not real sharp but good enough to get the win. Kolarik gets the save pitching VERY well. Crowder caught a good game and Crapo made a spectacular catch in left-center field. On the down side---3 infield errors and some sloppy ball handling. Vidors Chas Bruce was on fire going 3 for 3 with all being very hard hit balls

After reviewing my books--Broncos had 3 errors in the field and one missed sign resulting in a score -
understand completely and he may decide to go to a D-1 but just trying to give reasons why JUCO might be a better fit

Walters went 2, Smesny went 3, and Kolarik went two--and those last two curve balls from Kolarik were indeed wicked -

would love it! -
IMO JUCO is the way to go especially for pitchers. some reasons: lost in the crowd at a big school, JUCO can pay more, and most that go D-1 will ride the pine for two years, San Jac and Angelina are two of the top baseball schools anywhere

I talked with the Episcopal coach on the way out last night. He said his team was 28-3 last year. They are no slouch. You are right though--Dayton gets the bats going and we will be pretty good. -

exactly right---everyone sooner or later will hit the wall--for most it is the last high school game they play, for a select few it is in college, and for the extremely rare it is in the major leagues but at some point it will be over I have always preached that sports is a "means to an end"--it can help you pay for college and have a heck of ride along the way -

doubt if you must but one of mine is on 100% athletic scholarship and and the other is receiving offers as we go along---sometime the dream pays off Well, good for you, I am glad we have this forum so you can toot your own horn. YOU called me out with your expert knowledge----my response was to show you that in this case you are incorrect and I can cite many others as well so.... if that is tooting then toot toot -

some of "we people" do have kids that excel in the classroom but also happen to enjoy sports----one of mine loves to hunt and fish and the other could care less but both love sports---tell me were you one of "those people" that wasn't good in the classroom AND the field? -

perhaps I am not being clear---zero to do with playing time or position or any decision on the field---those are completely out of bounds but no one on this earth has been perfect for about 2000 years and if you are in a position of authority the proper thing to do is listen -heck you just might find a different perspective or maybe not but just listen -

the hardest thing to accept for some of us is to watch kids leave their hometown team and go play for another district -

no need to go postal ----- 1. a coach should LISTEN to any concern a parent has----he does not have to agree but he should listen---EVERYBODY in a position of authority should listen 2. this should be done in a CLOSED SETTING as I stated in an earlier post NOW: Do you think that a coach should never listen to a parent???? -
Parents out of bounds; respect for coaches waning
JS replied to adminbaberuth's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
absolutely correct--a parent has absolutely zero say in who plays where or how much and so on and so on....but players and parents do have a vote about how kid is treated or how a manager can show his "backside" in public--I have seen to many players "vote with their feet" and go run track -

very reasonable post and most coaches are fine people and will listen in a closed setting---they may not agree with you and that is ok as well-----but fans need to be respectful and coaches sometimes need to listen -

Dayton/Huffman was a "situational" scrimmage but Dayton pitching looked pretty solid Smesny, Walters, and Kolarik faced a total of 18 batters--Kolarik struggled early w/first two but finished strong--Smesny/Walters gave up no hits and had 9 Ks on 13 batters -
agree--HJ by a lot
