Kingwood Park 3-1 over Willis. Willis won the first game, and leading the other 3, but couldn't hold of KPark.

it appears i stand corrected. nice game hawks. looks like they showed some heart with the stop on the 3 and fumble return for the TD. Heck of a finish. -

Splendora @ Hardin-Jefferson predictions..
86hawk replied to Hawks2's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
i must be missing something. We go out against Huffman and get rolled 63-0. I did not witness the game, but only reviewed postings. If we have problems at QB and it appears we also have problems on Defense, how can any think we would win by 7 or 7+? i don't want to be negative and would like to see the Hawks turn it around, but i need to see something positive. -

Post Kingwood Park Tournament results here!

That means they finished in the top 8 out of 12. I caught the very last game they played yesterday vs CE King. You can tell the season just started, but they appear to have a good middle hitter. Just need to work on the timing with the setter and setting middle 1's. -
agreed. The coach has to instill discipline and keep the kids under control. Team ball tends to win out over street ball.
-
Cleveland is not going to allow the same thing to happen to the three years in a row. Navasota was probably thinking the same thing. Cleveland should have beaten HJ last year, but lack of discipline (IMO) did them end. Unless they can play under control, they will likely meet the same fate.

1. Bird 2. Magic/Jordan 3. Hakeem the Dream 4. West 5. Pistol Pete As you can see, I am more of on old school kinda of guy. Back when you had all around skills; shoot, pass, DEFENSE, and played TEAM first. IMO todays players are PLAYER first, team second. "what can i do to get paid?" The players that get all the press now are the ones that can jump out of the gym and dunk the ball every which way. My reason for Bird was his overall skill set. He can shoot, He can pass (made all his teammates better), play defense, and what i like the most is he wasn't afraid to go after the ball. When is the last time you saw any of todays "superstars" dive after a ball? Basically I feel like today's players are a bunch of prima donnas, spoiled #ss, play for the money-not the love, and selfish. That is why i find the NBA unwathcable. For passion, i prefer HS and College BBall.

in my opinion, it comes down to the school. The schools mentioned that have the year round "football" training (WOS & BHill) are known for the continued success in football, not basketball. I know they make the playoffs in BBall as well, but when you mention WOS or BHill and ask someone what sport comes to mind, my guess is Football. HJ has always been a basketball school. Ktze and Silsbee are also Bball schools, with Silsbee having success in football. I can't speak to the PE schedule now days, but we had athletic PE and in that time period, you worked on whatever sport you played. If you played multiple sports (like most do in small schools) you focused on the sport that was in season. My senior year, i think we had 3 or 4 guys played football, everyone esle was basketball. Football failed to reach playoffs and Basketball lost in the Area round. After all that rambling, my point is the successful sport normally dictates how training or scheduling works.
