poor kid.  He goes from one of the best times of his life, Prom, to being killed in a car accident.  He was at a school sponsored post prom party.  He was leaving the party and driving home in Missouri (sp) City.  Best wishes to his family and team.

I understand the issue with early deadlines, but what does that have to do with the BE Online.  That lacks up to date sports talk.  It is just my opinion, but it lacks basic overall sports coverage.  National, state, and local sports should take up more than 4 or 5 pages.

i think he overall quality of the paper has declined in the last 20 years.  I now live in Houston and the Chronicle has also started to drop in quality.  When i want info on SE Texas sports, i found this web site to be the best tool.  With all of the active participants posting scores, you really get tons of info.  The BE is not likely to have info on smaller schools, but you can get on hear and get info on a Sabine Pass/High Island baseball game. 

Some feathers are ruffled way to easy. Sure options 1-4 would be nice, but is it realistic?  I bet any team in SE Texas would take only 4 losses. But if that 4th loss is in bi district, it really doesn't matter.

Day 1 was awesome! Don't know if I can handle another one like it, but I'll give it a shot.

Sounds like Madison will get the Gold and Silsbee will get the "atta boy".  if this was the finals, at least they would get the silver.  Good run. Way to fight back.

based on what i heard on the broadcast, the refs were not the reason for the defeat.  Sounds like Spurger's (one of) top scorer was shut down to 0.  Even if he was hot, still doesn't sound like Spurger would have won.  The other team just sounds to strong.

someone needs to tell Coach Davis to stop talking.  I know this is his radio debut, but ease up.  Let the pro do his job.

I agree with pumping up the kids and keeping them positive.  I think that is huge when the younger players are learning and developing a passion for the game.  Often times the focus falls on the final score and negatives vs the positives, good skill development and team work.  Not many programs can go undefeated, but some kids walk on the court and feel defeated before the game has already started.  Yes, it is important to win games, but keeping the positvie attitude will help the motivate the lesser developed skilled players and make them better players. As far as beating HJ, keep hope alive.
