IS THERE A LIST OF APPLICANTS????  Who gives a rat's azz about the history, who coached, who was the principal, who played when??? The program has had little success over the years, FACT.  So, going forward, hire the right guy, work on turning the program around and get some wins.

it is what it is.  Do we even know if the 7'4 kid can play ball?  When i was in school, we had a kid that was 7'0 and we got him out on the floor our senior year.  Poor kid couldn't walk and chew gum.  Great guy, just no skill at all.  Wanted to be a chef.  I guess we need to work on our 3 pt shooting skills.

[/quote] I am guilty as charged.  I was one of those that did not think Silsbee could run with Yates and it would be a mistake to do so.  I was pleasantly surprised to see the updates and how close the game was late in the game.  I agree with 24of84, fundamentals lack in a lot of HS programs.  Free Throws, passing, and shooting.  Who doesnt like a good dunk, but when most kids playing HS basketball can't dunk, they need to work on the basics.

I saw this last week.. Here goes the beginning of the end.  Silsbee can't run and gun with Yates or its going to get real ugly real fast.  Dunk count?

just waters down the importance of district play.  "back in the day" 2 teams advanced from district.  You also had [b]1[/b] State Champion per classification.  Are schools not going to hang banners in the gym "4th place district 21-3a 2016"?  buy that patch for my lettermans jacket.

[/quote] i just realized it was the same margin.  I expect the game to be lower scoring with a little more defense.  I would like to see Silsbee play defense and see what the Yates offense can or can not do.  The majority of the HJ/Yates game scoring for Yates was on fast breaks and out numbered defenders.  I still think the height difference will be hard to overcome.  Hopefully Silsbee does not run out of gas.

I look forward to watching any SE Texas team play Yates.  You can't out run them.  You have to slow it down and make Yates run an offense.  Don't care if its Sislbee or WOS, I look forward to seeing the game.

HJ played a lot better than I expected.  Trouble with the press that equalled turn overs.  Size was way too much to overcome.  Yates doesn't play D, just out scores you.  Good season and on to next year.
