1. The University of Texas at El Paso has named former assistant to Don Haskins and current New Orleans Hornets assistant Tim Floyd to the head coaching position for the Miners basketball team.  Floyd's previous head coaching experience was for the USC Trojans of the PAC10.
2. Glad to see a team from the Big 12 in the mix of the Elite 8.  Would have loved to have seen the Miners in there, but they got Butler in the first game.  Oh well...notice that AAW hasn't come on to congratulate the Bears since his team exited...
3. I love it when people gloat early in the season...makes a comeback all the more sweeter, and really spices up the crow...
4. Butler takes out Syracuse, and that Miner loss doesn't seem so bad...
5. All of a sudden, that Miner loss to Butler doesn't seem so bad...not after Butler takes down Syracuse.
6. If there is anything that pumps up a team, it's disrespect.  Many of you are gloating over the Bears struggles as of late, but the season is still young.  I have faith in these young men, and I have faith in their coaching staff.  So all you haters gloat for now.
7. [Hidden Content] And the "El Paso woes" hit again...not paying coaches' enough and then losing them to higher dollar universities.
8. Baylor is a good team, AND has a local following...but sometimes, I think that CBS Sports has deals to not make high powered teams look bad and hurt recruiting by not showing them get beaten by a smaller school at the Dance. You want a look at the real reason the BCS will remain?  Look at this game and the 'Nova one too.  When you let everyone in, sometimes the big bully gets his nose busted...way to go Nothern Iowa!  I love underdog stories!!
9. A top seed is getting beaten, so CBS Sports goes to a different game instead...gotta maintain the integrity of the media darlings...
10. UTEP makes an early exit, as it seems they used all of their energy to win Conference USA, and then had none left at the end of the season. Butler literally pounded UTEP from the outside, scoring 3s at will...77-58. The bright spot for UTEP?  The team is not all graduating, so if they can come back and put together a fine season, they can again be invited to the dance.
11. WE'RE GOING DANCING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  ;D
12.

Great win by the Coogs....based on the Miners showing in the regular season, they sould also be going to the dance, making C-USA a 2 bid conference... Coleman is a great player, but the Coogs got some others to step up as well for a quality win...
Miners will make it, based on their #25 ranking.  Houston might have saved Tom Penders job, if he wants it.  Good luck to both
Thanks 13...I am a UTEP "non graduate" alum, and my middle kid attended U of H, where he majored in partying his first semester...got a 4.0 too....385 in everything else though...which is why he is back home... :D
13. Great win by the Coogs....based on the Miners showing in the regular season, they sould also be going to the dance, making C-USA a 2 bid conference... Coleman is a great player, but the Coogs got some others to step up as well for a quality win...
14. UTEP played in the Conference USA quarterfinals, and beat the UCF (University of Central Florida) Golden Knights 76-54.  UTEP led throughout the whole game, but Rompza from UCF, really impressed me...by far the shortest guy on the court, he was everywhere...
15. Let's see now...beat 2 teams in the top 100 RPI, go down one spot in the AP Top 25...Xavier beats 2 opponents not in the top 100 RPI...they move up a spot...yeah, you can trust sportswriters...NOT
16. The Miners overcame a 10 point deficit after the first half, outscoring UAB 30-18 in the second to grab a 2 point win at home to close out the regular season.  The Miners go into the Conference championship as the regular season Conference USa champs, with a record of 15-1.
17. The UTEP Miners are now the outright C-USA champs, with an 80-76 win against the Marshall Thundering Herd.  Randy Culpepper was also the #3 highlight on ESPN Sportcenter's top plays.  With the win the Miners are sole Conference USA regular season champions.
18.
Texas was 17-0 and No. 1 in nation. They have since lost 7 of 12
It's like they lost any type of competetive fire.  Though I support the UTEP Miners, I am also a Texas fan, and hate seeing this slide they are on...
19. Hopefully, the Miners continue their winning ways, and make into the Big Dance!  They have two games left, Marshall and UAB, with the latter the bigger of the two, though the Thundering Herd is no walk in the park either.  With UTEP's win against Rice on Saturday, the clinched, at the very least, a share of the Conference USA regular season championship.
20. UTEP cruised to a win at home against Rice, with a final of 78-64.  The Miners are now 13-1 in Conference USA, having won 12 straight games.
21.
Aggies, plain and simple, the better team. A&M never should have lost to tu in Austin.
but they did...
22. Is it regulation?  If it is, I think the point is moot.  As long as the field is of regulation size, then whatever others add onto their's for their egos is of little value, and mostly for chest beating and boasting.  As far as the wind goes...location, location, location.  Smart move on LCM's part.
23.
Compared to most schools their field is a little league field as far as fence distance.
Actually...no.  Little League fence distance is 225 ft. as of 2008.  Junior and Senior League fence distance is 300 feet.  Little League DOES NOT apply in this instance, so please do better research before you post. These fence distances are from Little League International. Just because some other school wants to move their fence distance back so they can crow about a "beast" they have every blue moon that can hit it out of the park DOES NOT mean that LCM has a intentionally short field.  If they did, everyone would have big HR nights.  In addition, I seem to remember that the "Little League field studs" you like to deride from LCM, have also sent it out of other ball parks as well...
24. UTEP escaped with a win at Southern Miss. 59-56.
25. UTEP shows up in the ESPN USA Today College poll at # 25, #24 in both the CBS Sports and Parrish polls, and just 1 shy of the Top 25 in the AP poll, sitting at #26 with 86 points.
