1.
Can anyone report on the condition of LCM's field?  Does it drain well?  Was it by chance tarped?
Dang DS, Coach Griff only tarps the baseball field...I don't know if Coach Crouch tarps the football field...
 2. I figured since we're gonna do the scared thing, and since it's Halloween, I'd give those of us that love football, but not the online or in the stands "mouth foamers" a place to come and chuckle a little, but with a high school football theme... Like the unveiling of the new LCM waterfall this afternoon, home side of the field.  It will be more in keeping with the "Bear Cave" atmosphere, as the Battlin' Bears go under the rain fed waterfall coming from the area where the band usually sits.  It is rumored (there's that word again) that a couple of band members will dress up as salmon, with blue and red stripes, in honor of today's worthy opponent, the Lumberton Raiders.  Bear football players will then chase the aforementioned "salmon", working up a lather that will quickly disappear on the muddy field the gridiron.  What about your school?...
 3.
Somone tell me if I'm wrong.  If Lumberton wins out and Ozen loses out, then Lumberton is the 4th place team.  That would mean we would play Dayton 1st round or Crosby?  Disappointed by this season.  Lumberton has been it own worst enemy this year.
Of course, if LCM wins out, and Ozen loses out, then the scenario would be the same for the Bears...of course, I am looking at this game first...taking care of first things first.  That's how you "win out"...don't worry about next week till it gets here...then win that one, and so forth...
 4. I would also like to point out the wonderful way that El Burro has commanded the English language...proof that the "Ingles Sin Barreras" (English without obstacles) program REALLY works...this will help El Burro tremendously right up until he gets to New York, where no one is sure what language is spoken there... ;D

They do the same thing to NASCAR drivers before they race on hot days, but they only put one IV into one arm. Billy Joe and El Burro are for real though...they have yet to tangle in 6 man football, but I see a day when the two will be exchanging point afters and field goals...

My mistake. The rest of the analogy stands. How many coaches are no longer in the coaching field either because of age, monetary needs or other factors? I believe Coach Harper from Burkeville left the profession a few years back to take care of an ailing family member. He is now back coaching. If your not currently employed as a coach does that mean you know nothing of coaching?
Let me ask you a serious question...are former or retired coaches like Coach Harper in the stands screaming their guts out, criticizing the coaches on the field?  My point stands as well...that the few Pee Wee coaches who think they are God's gift to coaching are the ones that would look ridiculous going head to head against that same high school coach they criticize.  It's a different level when the kids are in high school and popping each other at trainwreck speed.  The game moves a whole lot faster.  Again, if you read my comments here, you will see that I differentiate between discussing a coach's and teams shortfalls on here WITHIN REASON, and the "foam at the mouthers" in the stands that wouldn't recognize a safety blitz package until it came up and rang their bell.
It's all about class. I have coached youth sports(bb,b-ball & fb) for about 3 years. I have been cursed & criticised by a few parents. 99% of the parents and fans are fine, it's that 1% that is the problem.  And the ones that always complain have bigger issues than a game.
(in a very Keanu Reeves "Bill and Ted tone)  woah...that observation is MOST excellent...

 13.
OK taking your analogy a little further, that would mean you as a high school coach can not be considered a coach because you don't coach at a college level, therefore you are no coach, if you were you would be coaching on Saturday on the sidelines. And college coaches are not coaches because they are not on the sidelines coaching on Sunday? And your taking total credit for those people you named because they were never "coached" before they got to high school? I bow to the master and am totally not even worthy of sitting in the parking lot at pee wee football.
Nope...I CAN'T take credit for the kids I coached in Pop Warner.  That credit goes to the coach I mentioned, Hooks and Crouch.  Your anology doesn't work because many high school coaches get tapped for college jobs, like many college coaches get tapped for NFL jobs.  The same can't be said about Pee Wee football coaches, UNLESS they have the pre-requisite education.  Most of them are volunteer dads and moms even, doing a great job.  Those few who think they are all that and a bag of chips couldn't hang as high school coach.
 14.
And why do coaches assume that parents have no coaching experience?
Because, if those parents had coaching experience, they would be on the sidelines coaching with them or coaching against them... I coached Earl Thomas, Jacoby Franks, Seth Thomas, and Trey Franks, along with many other great kids.  I couldn't hold a match, much less a candle to Dan Hooks, Randy Crouch, or even the guy I criticized last year, Coach Moody.  I don't even hold that candle to the junior high coaches.  I coached them in Pop Warner, when they were little kids.  That does not give me "coaching experience" at the high school or even junior high level.  I think that there are some parents out there that coached Pop Warner, Junior football, or other kid version of football who think that this give them experience at a higher level.  Nothing could be further from the truth.  If that were the case, I would still be waiting for my district championship rings from the 'Stangs.  ;D  (Coach Dan, a big ol' bubble gum machine ring will suffice :D )
 15.
what about when a coach does something dumb or out of the ordinary? think kids act like they do on the field because they see their coaches doing? how can you act like a game name hooks at wos and scream at the refs the whole game then get on a kid for talking back to a ref or coach? double standard.
I would tell my kids that if anything happened, they listen to the ref, don't talk back, and I would deal with it.  In a game, you have to scream, because there is a marching band playing, people yelling, and you have to get instructions in to your team quick.  If you are getting on a ref, as a coach, that is your job.  You have to yell, you can't text it quietly.  Now bowing up on the ref?...Baseball?...Seems to be part of the game for coaches...football..?...Don't do it. Make the distinction between crticism on here or in call in shows, and on the field antics by parents who have no class or social situation understanding or experience.  That's 2 different things.

From what I've read and seen this district is really weak. I went and watch Cleveland play Bridge City a couple years ago at our field in the payoffs and Bridge City put a spanking on Cleveland so keep telling yourselves how Cleveland is so good when your district is so weak. Cleveland could not compete in the district with WOS, Jasper, Silsbee...etc and from I have been reading LaMarque is moving down to 3A next year.
Dude stay in your district and worry about your post district.  Quit HATING on the TRIBE!!!  Yall BEARLY beat LCM!hahahaha
Remind me...what was the Cleveland vs LCM score again?  I mean, you did bring LCM up...trying to disrespect...but the Bears BEAT you.

Bad sportsmanship is crying everytime your kid gets tackled. I seriously doubt if coach Barbay is worried about a horn.. He probably has bigger things to think about like blocking and tackling. I Do have a solution.. This saturday Shepherd and Cleveland needs to meet up in the Sun Dance Parking Lot and settle this once and for all. Let me know who wins!!!!!!!!!!
hmmmm...if you read all of my post, you see that I am an LCM fan...and we BEAT Cleveland...so your defense comment...back at ya... and Shepherd and Cleveland in the Sun Dance parking lot...whatever that is...shows you don't have an argument...you also see that I am not against using a horn, but against it's OVERUSE

I understand fan support...I came from a tradition that was full of spirit, and in many places that I have seen, there isn't that sense of school spirit...but where do you cross the line from school spirit to downright obnoxious?  My middle kid played baseball, and when we went to Nederland, after a good play, they would do the "dog bark", and sometimes they would go just a liiiitttle too long with it...so when we started slapping the ball and scoring runs, I would do the "yip yip yip" of a hurt dog...we both irritated each other, but that is only using our voices...a horn?  That's ear busting loud, and great after touchdowns, like Texas' cannon after a score...but it loses it's effectiveness if it's overused...

"I pay taxes therefore I can say what I want". "Its my first amendment right".  Yes you do pay taxes but so do the coaches, Yes its your right but its also other peoples rigth to see you as a fool. The same guy thats badmouthing the coaches from the stands is usually the same dad thats acting as the coaches friend, always hanging around the fieldhouse glad handing them.  We all know the old saying. Every team needs that perfect coach who knows when to play the best kids, in the right positions, run the right plays, run the right defenses, make all of the exact correct adjustments....... But they can't get him to put his popcorn down and come out of the stands.
And we also know coaches that don't know these things. Knowing these things also doesn't make the person automatically then use them correctly. Opinions are opinions. Any job that is "public" based has the same things. Coaches are not alone. Police, Firemen, Soldiers, etc. all get the same thing in different degrees. Some coaches also look for any excuse to justify their dismal performance, including telling the kids on the field that the "experts in the stands got his job" a direct quote. Not all coaches deserve to be followed blindly.
Those that can, do.   Those that can't, sit in the stands and arm chair coach...
And those that only THINK they can are blind to reality.
I think we have some things mixed up here...Though I can't speak for anyone else, I see the "problem parents" as those that foam at the mouth in the stands, making all kinds of ugly comments to everyone around them regardless of whether others may want to hear them...I was one of these at one point in time...a boorish know it all.  I've mellowed, and I've also had experience on the "other side" of the coin...which is why I mellowed.  I don't see commentary on this forum about an AD/coach's preformance as bashing, but more of a discussion about where the team is headed, especially if it is 3 seasons into the guys contract, and the team and athletics in general has suffered.  You have to be respectful about it, but it's legit. In the stands screaming negatively, going on the field and bowing up on someone, standing by the dugout where a team can hear you mouthing off, all of these are the types of behavior that I think most of us are against.  Slamming on the refs?  Any idiot can do that...at least be creative and funny in your negative comments...beleive it or not, a ref or umpire will laugh, and maybe get the point better than when you look like you're going to burst a blood vessel.
