Who Has The Strongest Little League This Year?
elhector1 replied to TradinUp BH's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
The game of baseball is played as a team sport. I'm not sure about your experience with select baseball but mine has been very good. Maybe you have played maybe you are just throwing out something that you think and really don't have any knowledge of. Whatever the situation, you are lumping a whole group into one. What you are saying is that every kid and every select team doesn't learn the team concept. You are wrong my friend. First of all I would caution anyone from lumping any group and making an assumption on the whole group. I can promise you any kid that plays for me, league or select learns to play as a team player. There are alot of super talented kids that know how to play as a team player. The type of kid you are talking about wouldn't be a team player regardless of him playing select ball. You missed an important part of my post TD..."in the local sense". By it's nature, select ball takes talented kids and makes them more talented, but it takes them from different areas of the Golden Triangle. They are team players, they know how to play as a team, but they don't grow up together "locally" as a team. Where the league ball component comes in is where they get to play with non select kids that are going to be their teammates in high school, learning to play with players that either are pretty good, or are as talented as them but chose not to play select ball. Both components enhance the ball playing experience. -
Who Has The Strongest Little League This Year?

Just a clarification...OYBS is still a seperate league, and not in the Little Leauge system. They play through the Pony League organization. Where BCLL has gained a lot of players from Orange County and some South Newton county is because of taking in the boundaries of Twin County Little League in Orange. The park suffered a lot after Rita, and found it hard to come back, so BCLL has taken over the area. We'll see about strength. As for the select team issue, I think it is a fabulous idea to have the kids play league ball as well. The select program develops indivuduals, but it doesn't develop a sense of team in the local sense, since players are culled from different areas. You see this in high school when you have super talented kids that have no sense of team unity because they were devolped to be stars instead of teams. League play allows them to develop as team players too. -
If it was summer league, then MrUmp1 is right. If it was 12U stuff...OMG, I can imagine you when the kids are in high school. If it was a post season high school playoff game or games, then I can tell you that there are no "homer" umps. A case in point was the LCM/Huffman Hargraves series, games 2 and 3. The umpires for these games were from the Austin, TX chapter of TASO, and I can tell you reliably that the money they got paid was barely enogh to cover their gas, what with gas prices the way they are today. I have seen umpires have conversations in the dugout of teams, this to get out of the hot sun. So they talked? And 1 CALL was all that bugged you? You do have a low tolerance for pain, don't you?

one more series, one more series... -
thanks etbu. you all were great talking to before the series started. Bright spots...your # 15, Andrew Kiessling, what a hoss to get back up after getting hit on the mound by a line drive. He shook it off, and came back and finished the game. Great job! Also, your # 5 Kirk Doxey, that young man has a set of wheels on him. He was cheating left at the right field position, and was able to run down pretty anything hit to him. Another great player. Good luck in the future to you guys!

Huffman stroked the ball when they needed to, and made the plays they needed. IMHO, though, they had a little help from the home plate umpire, and his inconsistent zone. Enough to decide the game? Naw, we needed to put the bat on the ball more and we didn't. Left too many men on base when we shouldn't have. Huffman's pitcher came through when he needed to. Good job, Falcons! Welcome to the freindly confines of Don Gibbens Field (well somewhat) for 2 and 3. Wear your fan gear, so we can say hi to y'all.

what's really good is that all involved are working together to make this a great experience for the kids, and the fans of both teams. No one is being a stubborn mule about things, instead working on solutions and finding them. Way to go to the LCM maintenance crew, the administration, Project Safe Graduation volunteers, and the coaching staff for preparing for this.

How is BOJO looking for the 2008 season ?
elhector1 replied to Ned11str8's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
B-ears O-vercome J-oined as O-ne Glad the "a" in as wasn't capitalized, other wise it would be BOJAO Regardless, our school needs an infusion of spirit. Many will say that it takes winning first...I say it goes hand in hand. Some people have a problem with the coach/athletic director. Fine. However, don't let that keep you from supporting the students that bust their butts for months before the start of the season to get ready. If anything, go out and support THEM. This year, I saw a lot more support, fan wise, for the ladies sports. Guys getting face painted for volleyball games, etc. That is what I'm talking about. Go all out like that for every sport that you can! -
Fine by me but will not be able to attend any games but the best the to both teams. Win or loose Huffman has had a great year and the LCM fans on here have been way to cool. No trash talking or bashing which is a nice switch from the norm. You guys live it up and have a great weekend of HS baseball. Coolness etbu! I'm saddened by the fact that you will be missing the games. The flip that lcm volleyball is referring to, is the ones the coaches had to perform in front of UIL officials to decide things. Hufman's coach, to my understanding, did a wonderful 1 and a half twisting vertical with a "dirty eye to the umpire". Coach Griff however, did a full 1080 degree somersault with 2 full twist vertical, 3 "dirty eyes to the umpire" and a split landing. He really worked it to get the home field. Gotta love that energy. ;D

Now, if you had said, "I have friends at Huffman", I would have cut you a whooooooole lot of slack there, b-DoG fAn. I can understand pulling for friends. So in the spirit of sportsmanship and friendship between our fine educational and athletic institutions, I have upgraded you to Jack Russell Terrier. If you have ever had one of those psycho dogs, you will take that as a compliment...

Granted, it was not "appropriate". But McNamee is hoping people make the jump from "inappropriate friendship" to "he was doing her", even if that isn't the case. Additionally, Clemens doesn't deny the relationship, just the status of it. Would I be okay with my 15 year old in that situation? No...but then again, I'm not Mindy McReady's mother. As to the problems McReady has...look at this...supposedly, this was a 10 year relationship. McReady is 32 now. They met when she was 15. So that takes us up to 25/26. Does that mean that Clemens saw the problems McReady had, helped her financially, but didn't allow her around his kids anymore? The math tells a story too.
-
in your scenario, there are a lot of assumptions, but you cover yourself well by saying that even if the story is false, his character should be "called into question anyway". Congratulations. You have done exactly what the McNamee camp hoped. Their strategy is not the truth, it is the power of innuendo. McNamee has pretty much been called a liar, and he has nothing to lose by making it "seem" like Clemens is "doing" McReady. So now, we focus on Clemens?McReady, and not on McNamee being a liar, who is throwing out names right and left to save his rear.

That's right, Heckle and Jeckle are coaching! Losing team runs! Be there for the exciting thrills, chills and spills! Now go ahead, tell me I haven't been an influence!... ;D GO OSOS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

wow...we all kind of decided that WE would do it, so he must have too? I really do wonder who put this story out...can it be McNamee, who is counting on reactions such as yours of guilty until proven innocent? Know what? I'll give Roger the benefit if the doubt. He says he knew her, didn't have sex with her, but had a platonic relationship with her. His wife knew about her? Come on, if anyone has a right to nail his butt to the wall, she does...but I don't see a great reaction from her...hmmmmmmmm
