Both have good offenses. But I think I would be BC with the big defensive stop (only need 1) to win this one in a shootout...
I don't think you feel bad at all, and I don't feel bad saying BC would put a woopin on Cental!
Really? Central is a very good team that has a legit shot a district champs i dont think BC can beat them
My point exactly, this is a ridiculous thread that deserves ridiculous responses.
Come on North, you know if they weren't bowing up on each other, they would be doing something to each other's coffee...
 2. A "hater" is someone so against a team or person, that they will post the most negative things about that team or person, without acknowledging the teams or person's strengths.  (To make it easier, just add "person" after team in future references to team.) There is no give and take with a hater, no sense of balance.  A hater will ignore what is good about that team, either by coming on and demeaning a victory or a high point, or disappearing altogether when his or her "predictions" fail to materialize.  A hater need not come from the outside, there are haters within a team's community that hate on their own team, many times in an attempt to bolster their self esteem or "cred".       Ditto on Raider81's comments
I love how everyone is now off the PNG bandwagon! ;D Keep doubtin' us. Just remember we have lost 3 games by a combined 10 points, all in the last minute of the game, to teams who are combined 12-1. We are three defensive stops away from being 4-0.
Ah, my Indian freind, but in the game of football, the other teams records don't matter, just the fact whether you won or lost those particular games.  There are no asterisks at the end of the season...just the overall record. Having said that, I think the Indians, playing inspired ball, would beat the Redbirds...
 5. This is basically chest puffing at it's best.  I can see the two co-workers involved, walking around like tom turkeys during mating season.  However, that is pretty much how things are in Texas, and I will admit to doing my own tom turkey imitations...but like all turkeys, I have to be ready to man up when my team loses and my head goes on the "chopping block" to eat some crow... You notice all the bird references?  I gotta stop posting right before lunch...I guess I'll go and get some fried grinder bird...
 6. As to the verbal racism...I know it exists...even among 6 & 7 year olds.  Coaching a Pop Warner flag game in 1996,  I overheard a couple of young kids from "Bird land" (we were playing at their field) talking to one another during half time.  One said to the other..."I can't beleive you let that little "n" outrun you".  My team mom, who is African American, overheard this as she was taking the 2nd half roster to the press box, and I apologized for the other team's kids, not knowing what else to do.  She said "I don't let it bother me...they don't have any power ever me, if I don't let them". She was a strong person, and a wise one as well, but what happens in the heat of the moment in a football game?  Who gets a flag?  Does anyone?  Thi is one of those teachable moments, when we can, as parents and fans, point in the right direction, or ignore it as "no big deal".  In the case of the latter, I guess it just happens to be which side of the issue you are on...
 7. Being a fan of the winning team in the LCM/Lumberton game, I will say this to the Raiders... Leave it behind you.  That game is over, you have a bunch of district games left.  This was one football game, and is not a predictor of the future.  It just gives you something to work on, and adjust to mistakes you may have made.  Old f@(ts on here probably haven't played the game in years, or even decades, so pay no attention to them...they have to vent the gas they generate, or else, they would explode.  Your coaches were there with you on the field, so they know what to do now.  Listen to them.  To the Bears... When you are on top...you are a target.  People get ready for you.  The other coaches see and study what you do.  SO what will you do?  Do it better.  Confronted with difficult game situations, identify, adjust, overcome.  Keep that wonderful feeling of community you felt on that special Friday night, and use it to honor your friend.  But don't expect anyone to cater to how you feel.  Don't rest on the past, conquer the future.
 8. Neither...the Juarez Indios de Liga Futbol Americano, from Juarez, Mexico.  They bring guns...no, not dudes with strong arms, I mean, real GUNS! BTW, did any of you see the Dancing With The Stars thing, where the British judge told that "The Situation" kid from Jersey Shore..."You might have the guns, but you don't have the ammunition."
 9.

I ask this all the time.  What do you mean by 'undisciplined'?
I'm going to take a stab at this, but my answer will be mine and not his... A lot of times, kids who have a lot of talent let it go to their heads.  Coaches are advisers, and not someone to be paid attention to.  Because of that talent, and the feeling that you know all there is to know about the game, you will do what you want.  At times this results in not everyone being on the same page, sometimes it results in stupid penalties (holding, pass interference, and sometimes personal fouls).  what this does is take the talent that is already there, and check it with the discipline that isn't.  It's like daddy ball, only it's the kids that know more than the coaches do, or actually, THINK they do.  When you have a kid who feels he has to work because he doesn't have as much talent, you get a kid that follows directions, and has a strong work ethic.  When you have a kid that is scary talented, sometimes that results in a kid who feels the team has to mold to him, instead of him molding to the team.
 10.
If you want to talk about class, How about Lumberton's band playing during the Reggie Garrett tribute at the end of the game while their fans walked out.
While I don't like the classless post made, I don't think they realized that the video was going to be played again.  I don't think even we realized it until it was playing.  So I won't fault the Raider band, but give them the benfit of the doubt...
 11.
I don't generally like to post on this, I just like to read others opinions. Unfortunately, I can't let some of the comments on this one go. I have been attending athletic events for about ten years where the Raiders competed against the LCM Bears, whether it be volleyball, basketball, football or soccer. I can say, from my experience, that LCM both wins and looses with no class. I don't understand it because I know some really great people whose kids attend school is that district and compete athletically. I have been at basketball and volleyball games where the parents have actually promoted the unbelieveable unsportsmanlike behavior of the student fans. I have even witnessed the LCM students and LHS students at the LHS gymnasium acting inappropriately. They are kids. The only difference in LHS and LCM is that I witnessed LHS's assistant superindent and athletic director put a stop to the LHS kids behavior immediately. I have never seen that from an LCM coach, whether it be football, volleyball, basketball or soccer.  Yes, we the Raiders got it handed to us Friday night. LCM played an awesome game. My only problem with the game was the chop blocking that had absolutely no other purpose than to take the LHS players out. I honestly can say that, even from my past experiences with LCM athletes and fans, I never expected, on this night, that from their players. Just unbelieveable to me, and maybe only me (I get that!)  I heard one of our defensive players say that he spent the night trying to protect his knees because it seemed their only purpose was to hit him in the knees. Do they actually coach their players to do that? Hey, LCM, in my opinion, has a great team, their guys don't have to play dirty - show some class, hold your heads high, do it like Reggie, and make the playoffs! You have the size and the talent - this could be your year! Good Luck Bears!
You generally don't like to post because what you post are excuses.  On the Bears defense, there were no "chop" blocks, what was out there was a team energized with purpose because of tragedy..  On offense, you had a mobile, non pocket quarterback, who could hurt you three ways, and he used all three.  The Raiders didn't have that intensity, because, although the Raider nation felt compassion toward the WOS nation, and the Garrett family, it wasn't someone from "town" that had passed away.  For us, it was a kid we personally knew in many cases, so the emotional level was high.  But to accuse a team of what you accuse our team of shows your own level of class, or the lack thereof...it also disrespects your team, which fought hard the whole game.  If what you say is the case, I would have seen coaches flying out there to talk to refs...but I didn't
 12. I think emotion ruled the second half...having their buddies from across town here to support them helped tremendously.  In addition, you have some kids from LCM that are related to Reggie, and that also gives the team an added spark.... L-TRAIN and NAZARETH, extreme class in coming on and giving props.  Y'all's kids  know what to fix...good luck the rest of the season...
 13. It is truly an inspiration to see that the community I was transplanted into in 1995 is nothing short of wonderful when confronted with tragedy.  It would have been easy for us to dismiss these things as "it happened at someone else's school" or "it don't matter to us", but that hasn't happened.  We have come together for the good.  We have come together in a show of solidarity that one finds very little of in today's culture of "me".  We are truly "family" when needed. Reese...it seems that you have decided to put your all into doing things to the best of your ability.  That the tragedy you have suffered, you took, and made a positive out of.  That you have taken the lessons imaprted by your parents to heart.  You are truly a shining testament to their parentage.  May God continue to bless you and give you strength...
 14. Reese, I'll never know if you read this...but right now, you may be feeling a sense of being alone.  It's understandable.  You may be disappointed and angry at many things...doctors, life, God...and that is understandable as well... What you are going to find, though, is that a community that has a warm and giving heart...a community that will be there for you in times just like these...a community that will not only pray for you, but be there for you, regardless of what happens on a football field, or any other field of play.  A community that is regional in nature, but local in the love it has.  Reese, I pray that God gives you strength, that God gives you patience, that God gives you a future filled with wonderful things.  I pray that your heart is lightened in this time of trouble. If there are any funds set up for Reese, please post them.  I know the community would help.

And besides...I took that class...all I remember was some "weeds" guy, and beer...lots of beer...
 16. with that, fwstangs, I'm out.  Like you so beautifully posted in another thread, there are so many things that better exemplify the game of football than this.  Had an emotional time with a lot of my kids in church last night with dealing with Reggie's passing.  I think Ill deal with that instead... Nothing else to say. Some folks disagree with you, that is clear.  The court of popular opinion is against you continuing to rail on this guy! Please show some restraint. 17. Congrats for being involved...but at the same time, if you did know what these men go through, you would be more balanced in your judgements.  So far, all I see from you is criticism.  Anyone who has ever dealt with that sports teams knows that most who consistently criticize are usually not involved as much, and therefore, don't understand the daily preparation and dedication that it takes to field a team, or a squad within that team.  Again, looking at most posters responses to you, you seem to be more of a complainer, than a doer. 19. That would be the heavy medication for coaches fund...EVERY district has one As to the Bears comment, my kids have all gone to LCM, which is why I posted the caveat about my two cents being "unwanted"...
Oh, by the way, let me know what account YOUR tax dollars fund in particular.  Would love to know.   8)
Okay, Smitty, let me ask you this...is the coach who is the DC exclusively a DC, or does he have other duties as well? In addition, does the DC go out and tackle, or blitz, or cover reveivers?  No, his team does.  In the world of high school football, you try to teach 15, 16, 17, and 18 year olds how to do all the above (if on defense).  In addition, you teach class.  SO basically, you are expecting pro results from teens who can't even join the military, drink a beer, and make life changing choices for themselves.  You are expecting a coach to get pro level results while at the same time, expecting him to be a heck of a teacher.  Seriously, I'm glad most of the 'Dog faithful are more understanding about the realities of high school football than you are.  I'm glad most of the faithful of all the high school teams are more understanding than you are.  It's easy to sit on a perch and claim "a right" than it is to get down and dirty and teach kids, whether it be football, or history, or English.  Now, understanding that the answer to this question may be yes, have you ever volunteered as a coach, or a youth league official?  I have.  That is why I tend to be more understanding of those men who coach sports teams...because I have seen "fans" and "I pay my moneyers" such as yourself always being critical, yet never really understanding the dedication and work it takes to field teams year after year, and impart wisdom and desire into the young folk.  If you've never volunteered, try it sometime...not for the abuse, but to get a look at what it takes to make things happen on the field.    Good luck 'Dogs...'cepting of course, for that one week against my Bears... :D

21. You know what is cool?  This year, the Bears have their own annoying horn! YEAH!  WHONK! WHONK! ;D
 22. A locked mouth would have been more effective.  Again, someone had to talk in the first place... As to the notion of "respect", I find it interesting that the young man who quit the team was demanding it, but did not wish to give it in the first place.  Dionte "felt" disrespected, as Andrew "felt" disrespected.   In both cases, this was a teachable moment.  A teachable moment in the art of conversation and honesty, and not talking behind people's backs.  A teachable moment in going to the source and handling it at the lowest level possible before going to the coach felling "disrespected".  A teachable moment in how to present your case without bringing your dad into it (I understand about talking with your kid as a dad.  I did it with my middle son all the time, I still do it, but I stop at the door.  When he walks out of it, he stands on his own, making decisions for himself.). But, like many of you have said, the TEAM has moved on...and they have started to solidify.  Props to Carson Raines, who didn't stir the pot, and seems to have behaved in an honorable manner, when he was the one being replaced.  He truly understand the meaning of team... Good luck, 'Dogs, except of course fo that one week against the Bears...  ;D
 23.
I have to bite my tongue and not swear at this one. The young mans family is grieving over the loss of their loved one and all they want to write about is how his life may have ended. Give his family a break and write about the young mans life and his accomplishments. Show what a steward he was on and off a football field. Interview his classmates and team mates. Wait until the medical examiner has completed his FINAL REPORT before you publish anymore about this young mans death.
Again, agreed.  I notice that none of the other media sources has been playing "let's take a guess" with the untimely death of this fine young man.  It seems to me that the reporting staff of the Beaumont Enterprise has been hired from the ranks of the National Enquirer, World News Daily, and other rags that are suitable for use as bird cage liners.  Please, go back to reporting on Bat Boy (or the fine play by that name put on by the Orange Community Players).  Speculating about his passing does nothing but keep the wound fresh, and DOES NOT promote healing.  If the medical examiner's report had come out, I would understand, but right now, all this speculation is at the least, un-needed, and at the most, a calculated attempt by the reporter/reporters to stir the pot at the expense of the family and the community at large.  If this is the case, the reporters should be let go.  I still say, vote with your pocketbook.  If the Enterprise does not print a retraction, cancel subscriptions.  If you are an advertiser, cancel your advertising.  Let them know how you feel.  They can cite the first amendment all they want...it is also our first amendment right to ignore them, and to spend outr advertising dollar elsewhere.
 24.
It can only cause problems when they guess (three different times in one article) at what happened. And if I were them I woudnt ask for cardiovascular imput from Beaumont Bone and Joint. He may be in sports medicine but that does not make him an expert in heart issues especially in a youn man he never examined. I say leave the cause alone until they get a definative answer. Out of respect for the family if nothing else. A lot of people are curious but IMO it's nobody's business untill the Garrett family gets their answers.
agreed...
i was getting on here to say the same thing...
Yellow dogs are even offended by the Beaumont Enterprise...Isn't there a lawyer or something they can specualte about?  Naw...I wouldn't even wish the Beaumont Enterprise on the scumiest lawyer...That would be a step up for the Enterprise.  Can we say subscription cancellations?
