So, Hill fans, it's been established that you are for real. What do you think the chances are the hill finds itself in the playoffs? How has the team progressed since the Dayton game and do you think you've come far enough to beat C.E. King? Trying to get a little football talk mixed in on this thread.
pfft now I know.. the BH posters on here MUST live on County Line Road.. you know the road where you look to the right and you see trailers on training wheels. and broken down cars in the yard, with a rabid dog tied to the rusty one closest to the road. Galena Park vs Dayton video

After watching that video, you would have thought GP won the game. That is a pretty cool thing they have going on with the schooltube stuff. Maybe Dayton can get some HD cameras and editing room and get in on that. It's gotta be fun for the kids. -

Latest High School AP Polls
Tyrone_Biggums replied to WOSgrad's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
Dayton doesn't deserve to be in the state rankings. A case could be made for Houston area 4A rankings. They are a .500 ball team right now. Could Dayton beat a lot of the teams on the state top 10 list....I think they could on the right day. The Broncos will be alright, but the last thing they need to worry about are state rankings. It would be better for them to worry about getting above .500 this week and take it from there. -
Ok...this is getting way overboard from both sides. Pride from student athletes in their program, school, and community is what we hope our kids have. Pride in our student athletes, our programs that our tax dollars help to sustain, and pride in our communities are some of the hallmarks to our great communities. Trust me guys and gals, I have had the privilege to live in numerous states and nowhere that I have lived can match what you in Texas have; nothing when it comes to HS athletics and community involvement! We have Yahoos from both communities - Dayton and BH alike who do get a bit overzealous on these boards and we keep coming back day after day to see what other inane, BS comment was made and by whom. I watched this thread from the beginning, sort of ebb and flow and I have to tell you that it's on both sides. Dayton has a great football program and has for the past, what, 12 or 15 years? Kuddos to Stewart, the administration for the direction, and the Dayton community for it's support. BH isn't having the best of seasons on the football field of late, but has traditionally been Very successful. But neither community has the best of anything and probably never will. As for what's been stated over and over about the Hill riding the coattails of Dayton and being jealous of Dayton's program...uh uh...Never has and Never will...well ok, I'm jealous of your stadium! As for as the Hill being the best of everything else or the best in everything else, uh uh, never has and never will...pretty darn good, but not the best! We're two equally proud communities with reasons to be proud with past and present accomplishments and we need to just let it go at that. Hopefully, this will be a great rivalry in the future. In the day that I was at the Hill...we looked at Dayton as a rivalry and we WANTED to beat Dayton, the big brother from the north; but I don't believe they felt the same rivalry with us and why should they have. I believe up until the Stewart era, it was like 11 wins apiece dating back to the 50's. Perhaps with growth, comes a dilution of the "old school pride" and it's a sad thing if you want to be nostalgic, but it is what it is. Most on the other hand, don't fall in that category and would prefer that you not say all Hillians or Hillarians or all Broncos or Dayton people. People, that's just nonsense! Go Hill, go Dayton, represent 19-4a in all athletic and academic endeavors and lets support our young folk to help them be great, upstanding citizens in their communities now, and in their future and not act like the Yahoos who get their rocks off bashing others on message boards!!! Good "Lawdy" and I'll get off my soap box now!!! ;D
Your treatise/post deserves a measured and mature response: You forget to tell the broncos to tighten up their jocks because big blue is coming to town AND your forget to end it with THIFR. These are two requirements that can't be overlooked. As for whether or not it is hillians or hillarians, I kind of prefer bumpies because after that beat down your hill sunk a few feet and became a bump. Also, it's not a good idea to beat your chest while having a pissing contest. It's best to do one or the other for obvious reasons. Man, I really do feel better after entertaining myself in this manner. Thx. Oh yeah, the hill is for real.
The cowardly knight.... answer the question.
What the heck are you talking about? Are you trying to question what is not for real if the hill is for real? ummm.....okay. I'm going to read between the lines here and try to illuminate a few things for you in relation to this thread. 1. The dayton posters have not said anything negative about BH kids while some BH posters certainly have taken some pot shots at some of the dayton kids. 2. Before the BH/Dayton game, dayton was 0-3 and the BH fans (even your coaches) were talking trash about how Dayton would be an easy win. 3. I fully recognize that this thread is obnoxious, but it's things like this that make a game a rivalry. When we hit 54 pages, hopefully, we can find a moderator to lock it up and put it in the classics. As for an answer to your question, if you will restate it with more clarity and less attitude, I will gladly dignify it. Until then......THISFR
I think the "keys to succes" for the Broncos are........... 1. First and foremost turnovers have to be stopped! At least kept to a bare minimum. That has been the one clear weakness dating back to last year. It has improved in district play and let's hope the trend continues 2. Offensive line - pass blocking has to improve. Herrera does a great job executing the plays when he has the time. If he is forced to run problems occur. They have done a fair job so far but they are a bit undersized. But Dayton teams usually are. I applaud the coaches for what they have done with these kids. Great technique. 3. I know I've harped on it before, but the passing game has to evolve some. The Dayton coaching staff does a great job with a high percentage type passing scheme. They are high school kids afterall, so running some high flying west coast offense is really not practical. But I still believe they could utilize #9 and #33 a little more for some 5 to 10 yard underneath stuff that would keep the chains moving and still be high percentage. 4. Secondary - Yes they have improved and group wise, they are one of the best we've seen in a while. But they will have to continue that trend to make a deep run. We will see on Oct. 29th just how much they have improved. Just my thoughts. I enjoy reading all the other fans thought as well so let's hear em'.
Agree...with a few addendums to your points. #1. I don't even say the t word or the f word. #2. They just need to do what they are doing but do it in a meaner nastier manner. It's okay to be a tactician, as long as you understand that you are a big ol' sweat hog at heart. #3. Agree. Maybe we are saving that for the playoffs. That's more of a play calling issue. #4. At the start of the year the secondary played the ball or played the man. As the year progresses (even now in flashes), I think you will see them play the ball and their man which will result in more deflections and even more interceptions.

QB01 I coach the running backs at GCM. I talk to them after every series. I just dont do it sitting on the bench. I encourage our players constantly. Its always easier to coach from the bleachers when you don't know what's going on.
Then you more than anyone know what I am talking about. You can assume who is being referred to here and it is not you. There are some football coaches calling the shots on this staff that are not approachable if a player wanted to speak about anything. If you do not agree with me, your head is in the sand. Players should feel comfortable enough to do this and for the most part, like their coach. This is absolutely not coaching from the stands. It is a fact. Do not wear your feelings on your shoulders and make a point to change the atmosphere. Be the coach to make a difference. I would be willing to bet you are not real comfortable discussing this with this head coach.
This is like a car wreck on the side of the road...I know I shouldn't look and that i should keep on driving, but I just can't keep from GAWKING. I have a feeling we will be seeing a lock next to this one at some point. It's not going to get any better on Friday either. Sounds like tough times at GCM.

Dayton vs Baytown Lee highlights
The Dayton vs Baytown Lee Highlight video is complete! Special teams kickoff coverage was OUTSTANDING! Click on.... [Hidden Content] to watch the video. Enjoy! Even after watching the video, still don't know who to make the Toups Graphics Player of the week? Leaning towards Aaron Ripkowski. Defense did a great job in allowing only 40 yards. Who do yall think should be the player of the week? Previous winners are Carranco, Baldwin, Wright, Quicncy Williams, and Jakari. Would like to pick a new player this week.
I think it should go to the entire defense for allowing about 40 yards and no scores. BUT Rip did have a big stop before the half when it was 4th and forever and the ganders went for it. -
Should the title of this thread be "Dayton fans predict GP v Crosby"?

Who was the 2nd string QRT back in the Lee game for Dayton. That kid has got some wheels and looks like he has a cannon. Little more work on his reads and might be a hard decision next year
Markayne (sp?) Chambers - sophomore
I guess but that kid has got talent. He looks more like a Dayton QB than Herrera #8. He can pick up more than 3 yrds per.
Herrera has experience, he's connecting at dang near an 80% percent clip so far in district play, he throws a pretty ball, and he executes the offense as he is directed. Most schools would love to have a qb like that. I'm not knocking chambers, but Herrera is starting these games for a reason. I think that Herrera makes good decisions with ball. As far as running the ball, Herrera is not a power runner, but he is shifty in the open field which makes the defense have to stay home on bootlegs. Chambers getting reps means the broncos are winning big, it doesn't mean that there is a qb controversy in bronco stadium. I hope chambers improves and challenges for the slot next year because competition is good, but remember, the Dayton qb, rb's, and rcvrs are for the most part soph's and jrs who will have 2 and 3 years of varsity experience next season. -

Agree. As long as they stay humble and don't get the big head they should be in good shape. Hard work pays off. If they keep outworking their opponents during the week, it will pay dividends on Friday night. I hope they take care of business the next two fridays and then unleash the stampede when crosby comes to town.

Wait a minute....If you will all remember, Dayton isn't going to score 20 on GCM. Where is GCMPATS when you need him? -
Broncos are looking better even though the competetion level has dropped off some (trublu is right). You can still tell that there has been some offensive improvements. I do believe they will win district unless we have some big mental lapse (or it rains like heck) in the Crosby game. Now I'm a die-hard Bronco fan, but I still don't think this team has enough to go past the second round. The reason I say that is it looks like we have a good chance of meeting up with Brenham in the 2nd round.(As long as we both win our districts and the first round games ;)) And while we played them tough last year, I believe Brenham has a better team than last year and the Broncos have about the same team. A little better defense, but a more inconsistent offense. The Bronco offense relys on the big play too much. Brenham will take that away. Unless our passing game improves to where we could convert 3rd & 7 or 3rd & 8 at least 50% of the time, I don't see the Broncos moving the ball too well against a quick, stout defense. Just my opinion and I hope I'm wrong.
One thing the Bronco offense is missing is the electric big play guy...i.e...dugat or ploch...but I think that as the season progresses you will see Jakari Delasbour start making more and more big plays during crunch time. (Dont forget Baldwin and Fowler) We will see as the season progresses. No need to crown Brenham just yet, the Broncos might surprise some people if that game happens. Then again, I haven't seen Brenham play yet so it's tough to make a comparison for this year.
Dayton will definetly win the weakest district in 4A East Texas. Maybe even first round.
We might even have a shot in the regional spelling competition as long as you promise to enter. I don't think anyone is going to bite on that one.

So many good things to say about this one. I'll keep it short. Game balls: The entire 2010 Dayton Bronco Football team. You guys have built up a head of steam, now let's feed the fire. Offense keep putting up the points. Defense keep shutting down the opponent. Coaches keep putting together winning game plans. Zellars on Baytown lee. #21 for the ganders. The kicker on the ganders for not quitting and looking like you actually gave a crap the whole game. Jakari...for the highlight quality stiff arm...NICE. No Balls: Baytown Lee coaches. Where is the leadership? I couldn't even tell who the head coach was. Stallworth concession stand: you make me feel like lloyd christmas on dumb and dumber...explosive. For those who don't understand this, check the link... [Hidden Content]
