****TRACK SCHEDULE UPDATE FROM THE UIL****
dayton replied to KFDM COOP's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
I understand it this way..... All athletes who qualified for regionals out of their districts ARE running in the semifinals(replaces regionals)... the top four runners (from the semifinals) in each event FROM all conferences (or district) advance to "state".... Simply put, all regional qualifiers get to compete and the top 4 from each region will advance. Still sounds weird because that means 16 athletes in each event at state... and I've never seen 2 heats at a state meet. Posters Kris Gilmore and cardinalcc should know what this means, maybe they'll chime. I know that one or both of them is a coach with kids who have a lot at stake. The release statement was, IMO, very vaguely if not poorly written. Or, maybe I'm just not smart enough to read UIL jargon. -

holds a BISD record for passing yards right?

dude you must be crazy.....ask anyone! green is a incredible ATH but he was no bradon williams you should of seen what he did to vidor his senior year he beat vidor by himself central had some of its best years with him starting at QB anyone?? Apples and Oranges as far as styles and the offenses they were a part of. Williams was more elusive as a runner, but other than that, I don't think he had a skill that stood out as being far above Green. Going by numbers I would say he wasn't even parallel, but once again... the offenses were very different. Green is the total package and was recruited as the ONLY QB in Nebraska's 2009 class. that's gotta say something about him as a QB. Williams was committed to TAMU as an athlete if I remember correctly.

don't know the man.... GREAT post though!!!

what game last year was the most exciting for you to watch
dayton replied to skipper's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
My gosh I just love it and thanks Purple4Ever for getting that on tape for us to watch over and over for eternity! My Dad and I both started to cry as we cheered like little kids that day. I forgot how crazy the wind was and you can sure hear it roaring on the video. By the way if anyone spots a Diboll hat it blew off my head in the parking lot and I have not seen it since, LOL! I was changing hats and that sucker went airborne! a lot of us did!!! Great moment! -

That's really the bottom line in this whole situation. Had he done this.... it would have never reached this exciting climax. -

little johnny is a synonym of sorts for a kid "who never does anything wrong?" : syn·o·nym Pronunciation: \ˈsi-nə-ˌnim\ Function: noun 1: one of two or more words or expressions of the same language that have the same or nearly the same meaning in some or all senses -
I agree. the past several years, it seems everyone doubts the pitching. But, it seems we've wasted more good pitching performances than we have good hitting performances. Hope we can keep it up. Go stros!!!

I second these thoughts.... that's what message boards are about!!! Stay put!!

I'm going to have to agree. We will only be weak on the line. that's a fairly important weakness. -

I looked for it, but I don't believe its posted anywhere. They announced the final participants for each event at the meet, but don't know where they list it. It will be worth the trip to BH just to see Casey and LaCour compete in two races. LaCour has the fastest time in the nation in the 110's and Casey looked plenty healthy to me in the prelims. They ran in separate heats so tomorrow will be their first head-to-head. Finals begin at 5 PM. Just a side note... they went head to head in dayton last week. LaCour won. I know Casey is getting healthier (groin) every week. Tonight should be a great one in the 110's. I'll predict LaCour to win handily in the 110's and Casey to do the same in the 300's. They definitely have their different strengths. -
How is BH football looking for next year???
dayton replied to RunTheDamBall's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
work ethic is the last thing I would question out of BH. don't know where Mixbreed is coming from with that post. ??? from the weight room coach or player or what -
First off.... Competition is good if handled properly. Second, wasn't Gonzalez a starting sophomore last year? 3rd, I know nothing about Z. Sonnier Alot of factors would play into this 1. Age of the players.... having a QB for multiple years is good. (Adv. gonzalez) If sonnier is the same age then the adv. is not as big. 2. Ability of the players to play multiple positions... I know Gonzalez can, so may you put him at WR to get Sonnier on the field. The more athletes on the field the better. 3. Is there a clear cut, better QB? Tangibles and intangibles included.

my thoughts too! Just plan it from the get go. This does affect softball more than baseball it seems. At a 5A school, this type of thing would never happen. I know that schools want to "maximize" their athletes , but sometimes you have to make choices in life. My son would love to run hurdles in track, but you only have so much of yourself to give to your sport. To think that you can just "show up" at a track meet and compete at a high level is just crazy. Actually, I've seen many talented athletes over the years "just show up" at a track meet and compete at a high level. All of them were blessed with great speed. sounds like you got to watch philip davis from BH.... dude hardly ever stretched. State champ in the 200 and 400 i believe... what a talent.
