  1. MODS feel free to move this if necessary. the beginning has video from him at nebraska... already looks bigger to me. check out the run at 1:51... some of the best moves I've seen him show.
  2. News Flash - It has been played in cold weather, and it very well could happen again. just curious when was the last time. most the time when it's played in a cold weather city... it's played in a dome... More fan friendly and one reason it's fan friendly is because the offenses are able to go full throttle.
  3. Two Words: Garrett and Hypolyte I thought about that but... you gotta utilize your weapons. I guess that's what WOS fans complain about come playoff time.
  4. She's the best female player I've ever seen in person. I don't see a lot of girls bb but I knew she was special when dayton and Silsbee used to be in the same district. I remember her shooting with both hands! Crazy!
  5. Just looking at his stat line from last year (from rivals.com)... How does an athlete of this caliber average 3 touches a game ??? Or is that stat line incorrect?? Rushing Receiving Statistics Att Yds Avg TD No Yds Avg TD 2008 (Jr.) 16 186 11.6 3 14 166 11.9 2
  6. exactly... Dayton had a couple with some unimpressive 40 times go D1 this year. Just from what I've seen on video Johnson is a flatout playmaker. The recruiters know that!!
  7. With as much change as he's instituting though.... It might be beneficial to let those that can get ahead... do the QB possibilities play baseball??? that would be a major factor IMO. Yes. I know Benoit does. Not sure about Kerr or Doty? Thats an easy one, just cancel Baseball for one season, for the sake of the Football team. ;D sounds simple enough..
  8. I'm curious what ya'll will do... 2 weeks of extra practice with a new system would be hard for me to pass up even shorthanded. Ya'll have sharp kids, they could catch up.

  10. from: [Hidden Content] UIL SPRING FOOTBALL RULES • Only Class 4A and 5A teams are permitted to conduct spring practices. • Teams may conduct 18 practices within a 30-day period. The UIL does not set beginning or ending dates. • Teams that forgo spring practices can start fall workouts a week earlier. • Spring practice is the only time football equipment can be issued during the off-season. • Other than spring practice, teams are not permitted to practice in the off-season except during one normal school period, or a maximum of 60 minutes, per day.
  11. Faircloth is gettin' after it. It may seem extraneous to some... but a lot of the successful programs have this # of coaches and this technology at their disposal. I'm anxious to see how his moves translate on the football field.
  12. exactly what I was thinking.... Amazing how far the Jags came after the L-town game.
  13. That would be fun. The Indians would get to test out the their new O against 2 stingy defenses. This would be good for dayton as well. We'd likely get to see the ball in the air a lot... which is always a plus... especially with a retooled secondary.
  14. Pretty good company there in the long jump with haynes and lacour. Impressive!!!
  15. they will have to rebuild most of the secondary... but the front 7 should be strong. There is ALOT of experience on the front.
  16. I don't think so Tim. OK, so who is Tim maybe you wer kidding.... but in case you were serious... think Home Improvement.
  17. Game time has been changed to 7:30 there were originally two games on the slate for tuesday... just this one now.
  18. this a situation where giving in to peer pressure is ok. the spread works!! I agree that the spread works, but I'm going to use Jasper as an example just because I'm familiar with them and their history over the past 30-35 years. That offense produced a few of the best that the Bulldogs have ever produced, but it took away from their ability to defend and eventually negated the advantage that Jasper enjoyed for a long time over probably 80% of its opponents...its size and strength. Sprinkle in speed at the skill positions and that's what made Jasper one of the better programs in the area for about 20 years, regardless of classification. It's hard to say whether going back to the veer would give the Bulldogs that advantage again, but the key for any football team that plays spread offenses is to possess the ball themselves and play "keep-away" so that those spread offenses can't hurt them. That's what makes Georgia Tech so competitive in the ACC with their triple option while everyone else runs some variation of the spread. I know I got off-topic, but when evaluating what you should do offensively, it's important to have a good handle on what your defense can do with whatever depth it has. That was Jasper's problem last year and it will be interesting to see what the new coaching regime there will decide to do. how did it take away their ability to defend? Dayton defends the run very well.... we struggle against good spread teams,... but who doesn't? Take Longview, great defense against the run but LT put it on them... another example, Everman had the #1 4a defense in the state but got torched by Sulphur Springs.... both of these teams run smash mouth offenses and while it may have kept the score a little lower than it could've been they were essentially defenseless against stopping the spread.

  20. if your defense stays the same... you guys could run the spread, wing t, 'bone or whatever you want and ya'll would win a bunch of games.
  21. Lots of offenses have sweeps built in to them. With a small line, it's tough to run between the tackles and you're in trouble against a fast defense that can run to the ball because they can get to the corners. You better have a good passing attack to keep teams honest and use a lot of misdirection in the running game. I'd probably run a variation of the spread that uses the passing game quite a bit... that is my thought as well... dayton does this with typically small O-lines. Lot's of quick passes.
  22. depends on if they stick with pretty much the same system. If they stay in the wishbone, I could see the same kind of success... if they change systems, it's anyone's guess.
  23. yep ... WOW!!! [Hidden Content]
