I think it's great for the district. Anything to raise the level of play, IMO. -
[Hidden Content] Until the fourth quarter, there weren’t many highlights at Galena Park ISD Stadium on Tuesday night. When North Forest and Galena Park met in their first game after Hurricane Ike, it was clear that both teams were rusty from the extended period of time off. Despite struggling to put together big plays and fighting penalties and mistakes, North Forest put together a strong fourth quarter and came through with a 27-7 victory. The win wasn’t pretty but it was a district win for the Bulldogs, who improve to 3-0 on the season and 1-0 in District 19-4A. “It was ugly, but I will take 10 ugly wins if that is what I can get,†North Forest coach Lionell Crawford said. “A win that isn’t pretty is still a win.†There were a combined 12 punts in the game and 16 penalties for 90 yards. There were only 11 total first downs between the two squads. But both teams have been off for over three weeks because of Hurricane Ike. Everything was thrown off, from their practice schedule to the Tuesday night football game. “We were both off the same amount of time and I think it hurt both teams a little,†Crawford said. The teams each scored a touchdown in the first half. North Forest quarterback Tommy Peters ran the ball for a two-yard score to put the Bulldogs on the board. Late in the second quarter, Galena Park (1-2, 0-1) scored when linebacker Robert Chenier tackled North Forest punter Johnny Martin and James Gilbert recovered the ball in the end zone for a touchdown, making it 7-7 at halftime. There was no more scoring until the fourth quarter when North Forest was able to make something happen on both sides of the ball. Running back Christian Terry started the quarter with a two-yard touchdown run. A few minutes later, when Galena Park was driving, quarterback Bryron Smith’s pass was picked off by De’Andre Stewart who took it back 20 yards for the score. Later in the quarter, Galena Park had to throw the ball again, and once again the Bulldogs came up with an interception. Linebacker Joshua Domingue grabbed the pass and took it back 81 yards for the North Forest score. “Galena Park is a great football team and they have a great running attack,†Crawford said. “We did a good job on their running game and they had to throw. “Our secondary was ready for that, and they did a great job in the second half.†North Forest will play Dayton on Saturday. Dayton, who is the favorite to win 19-4A, defeated Goose Creek Memorial 49-0 on Tuesday night. Galena Park will face C.E. King on Saturday. “That is going to be a tough game, but I am glad we were able to get out here tonight and start playing football again before that game,†Crawford said. [email protected]

I can'ts speak for Vidor but I tell you this. Be happy while you can. But your time is coming. I don't think your Raiders will be ready. We pretty much owned yall then yall get one win last year against one of our weaker teams. Time is ticking... ;D

Dayton vs. North Forest Predictions?

I'm sure they have other weapons, but he'll definitely be the key. -
I was just thinking the same thing... big for l-town, huge for vidor.
-
:-\ So... if vidor (sorry lumberton) wins a close one... Coach C is keeping it close... interesting strategy... risky, but interesting.
-
a good passing spread offense opens up lanes for the run. sounds like that's what happened last night. If ned can run the ball effectively and force PNG to pass I think that have a chance. Ned by 3.

but from what i can tell, there is a good coach and foundation in place for success. -
i wasn't impressed either... especially in the first half. but, I know how dayton progresses and they will be much better by the end of the year. I mean we may not be able to hang with your team (cleveland?) but we'll be better than last night. :-\ also, 25 days off doesn't help anything, heck even friendswood struggled throwing the other night.
-
Yeah Lumberton is so weak at passing the ball? Is that why we had two passes that went for 60+ yards and TD's? And yeah Vidor was REALLY tough at home last year : i think he means in respect to their running game. And most fans including lumberton ones would agree.

my bad... i got no idea on this one.

Dayton vs. Goose Creek Memorial Predictions?

we don't have a ton of reserves, so putting our backup qb (also a linebacker) in much earlier just doesn't make much sense. our offense is a passing one, so asking it to run exclusively... which we did (all but one play) in the fourth quarter is also a lot to ask. If Dayton was pouring salt, it would have been a 63 of 70 point deficit. my compliments of your team still stand. Good luck the rest of the way. -

??? thanks? the patriots will be a force in a couple of years. they really do tackle well, are disciplined and they play hard. the timing of the throws in ya'lls offense had our guys offbeat a little. I think you guys will win some district games. good luck the rest of the way!! -
Friendswood 27 Texas City 22 FINAL

they didn't miss out but no biggie. You may be right about the outmatched thing... I assume we'll never know beyond the game on 9-5 as I doubt we end up in the same playoff division. IMO, you guys should wind up undefeated on the year. It really has been fun to watch karam the past 3 years and I hope you guys have a great run this year... seriously. -

i don't know how you get any more consistent in the past decade than every single year (12 in a row to be exact). also, the line play gets better once everyone is in position and everyone is healthy. i genuinely hope friendswood does well though. although... i do feel you guys underachieved last year, and the proof is in what lumberton and dayton did to your small school reps.. both of which beat you guys. -
