Wow you think bh will get beat by crosby. stop! the odds and give people a chance Dayton is a good team but who cares who they were last year thats last year were now in a 2008-2009 year lets get real Barbers Hill has this list of players RETURNING 10 Tony Carmona JR QB/DB 11 Jacob Miller SO WR/DE 15 James Belard FR LB/RB 22 Kevin Johnson JR WR/DE 32 Andres Pagan JR WR/DB 35 Stefan Wright JR RB/LB 51 Jake Ponder JR OL/DL 54 Matt Peterson JR OL/DL 64 Bryan Icet JR OL/DE 70 Eric Comeaux JR OL/DL 76 Brian Meyer SO OL/DL 82 Carter Smith SO WR/DB 84 Jedd Chandler JR TE/DE 85 Jordan Stelly JR WR/DB 86 Jay Burditt JR WR/DB 87 Michael Bounds SO WR/DB These Guys will all be Seniors and Juniors this upcoming year and not to mention some of the Junior Varsity Guys are moving up with some talent also . So dont Down Barbers Hill This year they have talent coming . come and watch them play people are predicting Dayton to win based on who they have coming back. 6 or so returning on either side of the ball with 5+ games of playoffs experience from the previous 2 years says a lot. Oh well, guess we'll just have to wait until the season starts.

doesn't look as mature as some highschoolers you see. I think that is a big upside.

Who Wins The District Title In 20 4A?
dayton replied to KFDM COOP's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
thats why I put you guys in there as well. I think if ya'll would have brought the house against Ned like ya'll did a lot of the time against dayton, that central could have given them fits. -

I voted for nederland because I know they can outscore people. I'd like to give half a vote to Central because their talent level is just plain scary and if they get it together..... -

Those cops are jerks.... don't they know it's the offseason for him?!?! seriously... hope this doesn't linger for him. -
I would have to disagree on that statement. We had a very talented back last year who couldn't produce do to lack of running lanes provided by the offensive line. We could have had Adrian Peterson as our RB, and we still wouldn't have had a running game. Offensive Line needs to step it up big next year if we hope to even have a chance to make it to the playoffs. To reply to Wise Guy: He was right on about the O-Line, those guys performed lack luster at best for the majority for most of the season! Even the RB weighed more than 2 or 3 of his lineman. The O-line is definitely goin to have to kick it up a knotch this season! Am I the only dog fan that thought our oline did pretty good? How many sack did they give up? Not many..... Would have been nice to have a running back that could have made someone miss, break a tackle? Some of you said that our rb's were bigger than the line, i bet some of the lineman were faster than the rb's. A good running back makes a good offensive line you're right, but they shouldn't give up many sacks in an offense that is based on quick passes... I think the other fans are referring to the dogs' inability to effectively run the ball. I also agree that a good back makes a good o-line but that can go the other way as well... I think they tend to feed off of each other's success.

It wasn't anything even close to that...It was about him being unhappy with the direction of the club and being vocal about it. -
sounds like a pretty good deal!! you might miss half the game waiting in line though!!

[Hidden Content] sounds like a good idea.... from what I can tell, it is the program's first year.
-
looking forward to seeing him play this year... even if it is just a scrimmage.
-
I agree.... one of the most... offensively and defensively.
-
not that dayton did the same exact thing.... but the stages following all the groundwork, etc. did seem to move quicker.

Are you talking about that Air Force style O you guys mentioned earlier?

So... is it a gimmick or is it here to stay??? I like all kinds of offenses. With many teams (like dayton) ... I think the spread suits their personnel well. We rarely have a huge O-line and rb's, so whats the sense in going all out smash mouth? Yeah and there O-linewas small small! All you need in highschool is good hard nosed kids that play to the whistle and the pro-style offense works just as well.... I have seen Stephenville, Katie, Southlake Carrol, etc. run the spread but not evry play. They also could play situational formations too! I see our schools in the spread on 4th an d 1 and backed-up in the endzone situations! It is a GIMMIC when it is your only formation!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Teams can run out of the I-formation with a TE which Lumberton just switched back to and look at the results. I don't think they ever had a RB over 1000 yards let alone 1600 plus. The Spread is personnel dependent where the more traditional offensive schemes are not. Also, PAM's running a gimmick D---3-3-5 doesn't work on NCAA '08 and it doesn't work in real life. To watch a slow team skill person wise in Kingwood just run up and down the field on PAM is sickening. But just ask a Baytown Lee fan about the Spread and their swiss chees defense going on 10 years now.... I see what your saying.... watching LM in particular, they run a ton of formations onto the field. in '06 they really kept folks guessing. In regards to the defensive side of the ball though: the scheme that is run, the scouting that is done before hand and the preparation of the kids has more to do with success than what offense is run.

I understand on all fronts.... but I just don't see why a team can't play D because of what O they run. I feel the D is more on the coaching than anything.... as I'm sure that's why you said what you said about RT.

A career .300 avg in today's game definitely makes me think he's got a shot if he keeps it up. Sprinkle in some impressive stretches like this and some good playoff performances (fingers crossed for this year) and I think he's got a great shot

I agree with most the bolded statements, but look at all the success of the numerous state champions that run the spread as well as successful NCAA teams that run it. Also, I don't think the choice of offense has that much bearing on what the defense does... good example, Dayton.... Personnel and coaching has more to do with it IMO I hear ya but more than not, a Spread O makes a soft D. Even SLC defenses gave up yards and points. The problem with 90% of the teams they played couldn't stop them. WO-S and LM had salty defenses eventhough they were/are spread teams but they're the exception rather than the rule. Schnellenberger knoes his football. I know he's a dinosour, but he knows his football.... agreed. I just think that PAM most likely has the athletes for a salty defense much like WO-S and LM .... it sounds like the powers that be lack emphasis on D.
